http://www.twitch.tv/eckyman stream up you nerds
did that streamer just say there was a public test version just released?
did that streamer just say there was a public test version just released?
TO THE FORUMS! AWAAAAAAAAAAAY!
It's a new version for the closed testers.
ah fuck, what a douche, sounded like it was a public build
He's hardly a douche because you joined the stream later on and didn't hear the whole story.
well i'm pretty sure i heard him say 'ah there's a new public test build available' which is kinda misleading, but yeah fair enough he's not a douche
probably just misspoke i don't really see any reason why they'd release a test build on the forums before desura release though.
probably just misspoke i don't really see any reason why they'd release a test build on the forums before desura release though.
Desura is more "official". Something off Desura you'd expect to at least run for everybody, if they kept the intel bug in a good 10 to 20 percent I'm guessing couldn't play, which is terrible. A forum release is less official (but still exciting) and there's always a cop-out when people complain that their copy doesn't work.
i guess a forum release would be good but for it to be available to only people who payed for the game... well considering how awesome it is even though its a test build i doubt the people who buy zomboid for the forum build wouldn't be nothing short of blown away. i actually see nothing wrong with it, as long as its done in a clandestine way. they don't really advertise it themselves at all except with a link in a mondoid or something and a brief mention. oh yeah and across the main menu plaster the words "TEST BUILD" on it. in fact just plaster test build everywhere in game.
It won't be on Desura first because RC3 still has game breaking bugs. They explained this on the blog yesterday. Releasing a build on the forums first allows those following the game to pick it up and play and they should be aware of the issues and what to expect. That's not the case with people just downloading it on Desura - you can't replace a stable build on a platform like that with one that is gonna be buggy as hell, all it's gonna do is upset people who want a stable build.
but the entire point of desura is being able to charge for a game that is still in development and release current builds to payers [editline]23rd April 2013[/editline] desura is like steam for indie games that aren't finished and use the 'pay for current build' model to accrue funds for developers instead of a payoff at the end which doesn't help the problem that they aren't getting paid wages to make a game (on their own time) like regular non indie devs. it's one of many indie game models. another being of a more normal structure but it's internally funded while being independent of an outside publisher, basically what happens when a developer gets rich enough to start his own studio, like tim schafer. then there's kickstarter. before that indie devs basically made games on their own time with no pay or support other than disorganized fan bases. personally i love that now there are all these support mechanisms outside the fan base that can help indie devs and make their lives and games better.
You love to ramble on don't you. Every developer will feel more comfortable with different methods of release, you were told and linked to a source where they explain what they're comfortable with so lets leave it at that.
i dunno why i felt like pulling a star trek. like picard knows how all this shit works but geordie and data can't help but explain for the audience's sake
I really hope it gets released on Desura because I bought this game so long ago and I forget where I put all my codes and shit
I really hope it gets released on Desura because I bought this game so long ago and I forget where I put all my codes and shit
Well, with a little of effort, you could get your key back, if you would visit PZ site. There is key retrieval thingy, that will get your keyback. Actually, it just redirects you to desura's account page, where you can see all of your keys bought on desura. http://projectzomboid.com/blog/index.php/key-retrieval/ With the key, you can use forum releases.
Man, I know its quite far off but. I cant wait til I can play multiplayer with my brother and my friends. Gonna be rad as shit.
Fuck just realized you can chop down trees for wood. Wood means walls and trees grow back and that means more walls. sheeeeeit. But how would you go about getting a water source once that runs out?
Rain I suppose? I think they're going to add ponds/rivers as well.

But how would you go about getting a water source once that runs out?
You have to find water wells. The primary one is located north of the farmhouse, but they spawn elsewhere too outside the main map cell. I always make sure I collect 20+ water containers in the very beginning of my new games. How many do you normally have?
as i said before, construct water basins on top of buildings. also some kind of water sterilizing mechanic might be cool and might vary depending upon the method of transmission.
as i said before, construct water basins on top of buildings. also some kind of water sterilizing mechanic might be cool and might vary depending upon the method of transmission.
Zombie clouds. Rainwater should be fine, as should having condenser farms or boiling it. What you really have to look out for are aerosols. Be it dust, fog or maybe even smog (as well as your typical cough and sneeze). I imagine the large cities in China (esp. Beijing) would have a hard time with airborne diseases. Although I think I remember China has been having bad problems with influenza strains in the past 50 or 70 years.
If those expected changes turn out true then holy fuck this guy gets my money so much
I totally forgot farming was in this game! Can't wait to build a base and start farming. Also, will zombies choose to destroy built walls instead of doors first or how does that work?
Pretty good mask, spy
If we get diffrent seasons it should be good, like Summer and Spring we'll get alot of sun but not much rain, so you'll need to water crops and there could be a new 'hot' moodle which will make you easily annoyed and be able to run less, in Winter and Autumn you'll need to eat all the preserved food you've saved and grow stuff indoors, also keep the heating up
Dang. Just realized I bought the alpha for this game in September 2011. Haven't had a proper go at it since then. The game has improved leaps and bounds from the videos and what I've read on it. I can't wait to play this release!
So I just got Desura again and decided to download the original Alpha of Project Zomboid on it just for the hell of it. I played the Baldspot story but ended up smothering her :v: I end up running down the street with a hammer bashing in 100's of green alien skulls. Then I got cornered and was just torn apart. I guess you could say the game has come a long way indeed. But any version of PZ is still fun.
Next Monday.
