It was too laggy for me, I don't want to shell out money on an upgrade :(
I'm guessing L4D rolls by a similar infection system, though the Survivors in it are immune so it's hard to say.
I still loved the realization when they found out (or at least we found out) that they were carriers, and that's why people kept dying around them (helicopter pilots, every time). It'd be cool if that could happen in this in multiplayer: you're a carrier of the infection, but you're immune to it, and you can pass it on (or at least have a chance to) by being in close proximity to players.
But NO one should be able to tell if you're a carrier, not even you.
I've currently got a guy surviving 8 days holed up in the warehouse up north. I've got plenty of ammo and food, but no shotgun. Any idea where I should look?
Havent played this in a while, what have the latest updates been? Any talk about Multiplayer?

Download the latest update, it was a big one and changed the game big time. Definitely worth checking it out.
No talk about multiplayer yet.
so apparently the new build calls upon openGL drivers or something like openGL 3.0.
the thing that causes a lot of people's crashes on startup is the fact that their card doesn't have openGL 3 or whatever the game needs to run.
One thing I think should change is that when you get bit/scratched, it should be less clear if you're going to turn. As soon as my health state changes to zombified, I just totally abandon all pretense of survival since I'm dead anyway, and just speed the game up all the way to 3X speed till I die.
Related, I do know there's a very small percentage right now that a bite won't turn you, but maybe a small boost should be considered, like 90% infection rate.
Does anyone else feel the same way?
Alright, just bought it. This will be interesting.

surely it cannot be that obvious
Yay, I survived for 20 hours.
Most of them consisted of sleeping. It's a bit confusing. I've got two slots, yet I don't know how to circle around and stuff. Gotta figure that out.
Edit: Shit. Just found a survivor with an axe, a zombie grappled him from behind and while I tried to knock the Zed off him, he simply hit me with his Axe, effectively killing me.
Why doesn't the shout button work?

Shout button is meant for NPCs (which aren't in yet)
Is it just me or are you unable to get xp in weapon skills in the latest rc?

I think you're playing the old version, there's a newer version that's not on the main website
Could somebody tell me how to farm in this game? My watermelon supply has gone dry.
oh nvm I found a video

Yeah I'm not sure if you can level up anything (which kinda sucks)

it's a feature
i was playing yesterday and there were random gunshots going off, attracted huge numbers of zombies
i heard a few shots that sounded like a .22 and then 1 or 2 rifle shots
i don't understand
I think you're playing the old version, there's a newer version that's not on the main website
Guess so. Well then I need to approach differently.
Come on Desura, I need my new mac build already.
I started playing again for the first time since like, 2011. So much has changed, and despite following the content updates and what not, there's so much which is just completely new to me. I remember knowing exactly where every building was, now I have no clue where I am and it's so easy to get lost (not that that's a bad thing, it's fantastic).
Does anyone know what the word on vehicles is? I vaguely remember some mention that they are a planned features, but back then I don't think anything had come of it. I feel like with the map size now, they're nearly a necessity (or maybe the map just feels bigger than it is for me right now, since it's all so unfamiliar). I also feel like seeing empty and crashed cars littered around the map would really make it more atmospheric, but I have no doubt something of the sort is planned anyway.
surely it cannot be that obvious
It is obvious. And don't call him Shirley.

That feeling when everything is going right is so satisfying.
Started a new character the first day I decide to run to the west side of town to loot. I manage to find the warehouse and get inside without taking any damage or encounter any significant threat. I walk out of their with a hammer, some pistol and shotgun ammo, and 50 nails, and head back east to start barricading up a safe house.
I find a large single story home, and start ripping down doors from surrounding buildings to barricade the place up. Then while taking it easy in my home, I notice a container I had missed earlier, and inside I find a pistol and more ammo. Still in the process of bariccading everything up, but things seem to be going well for the moment.
The next thing I need to start learning how to do is farm. As funny as this may seem to ask, how do I get started on the farming process? I already have a few seeds gathered up, but can you plan them anywhere outside? What tools do I need? When should I plant them? Etc...
I've downloaded the forum release of 0007, but can't login using my Desura key, it keeps spitting this into the console;
java.lang.RuntimeException java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: URI can't be null
This error has probably been posted before, and a solution found, but I can't seem to find it.

Oh wait, it's just on the 64-bit version, the 32-bit version works fine.

Also, some overlapping things inside the menu, not game-breaking, but just a slight annoyance.

If you changed your resolution, restart the game. If you didn't, try fiddling around with it.

This has probably been brought up before, in fact, I could've sworn it has been, but just in-case it hasn't i've had this problem in this particular area of the map, the places i've been to (not many others) seem to be fine.

Yeah, a restart of the game fixed it, it's perfect now.

To begin with you'll need a trowel which are commonly found in the warehouse. Equip the trowel in your primary or secondary equipment slot and right click on an area of grass to "dig" it.
After doing this you need to sow the seeds into the freshly cut area, to do this you must open the seed packet by right-clicking on it and selecting "open", this should put 50 seeds in your inventory. Now you must right click on the square of land that you prepared earlier and select the "Sow Seeds" option. Doing this will plant the seeds into the ground ready to be watered.
In order to water plants you'll need a watering can (also usually available in the warehouse). Fill it up from a NEARBY water source as it weighs 12-16 units when filled so it may over-encumber you. Then right click on the plant and water it. I would suggest water it by "20" until the water level reaches "fine". You can check on the status of a plant by right clicking and selecting "info". The plant will automatically be watered when it rains so don't drown it.
If you'd like a more visual explanation here is a video:

As for when to plant them...I'm not entirely sure. If your days are continuously sunny and your character overheats a lot I would suggest planting them since you are likely in the right season. I haven't had any success with farming yet is since I think my game is in the winter season.
There is also a big which causes plants to completely disappear, so watch out.
