Release Candidate 3. RC3 is the name that has been given to the version they plan to have NPC's and the full metagame features in, along with a release on steam's early access.
To answer your question V8 is version 8 of RC2.9
last time I checked they said that steam release would be after RC3, not with it
The RC 2.9.8b build went live on Desura a couple minutes ago. You should get a notification of the update.
anyone getting the UI in the upper left hand corner disappearing for no reason?
Is the desura release different than the torrent?
anyone getting the UI in the upper left hand corner disappearing for no reason?
Yeah I was streaming it this morning on twitchtv and build 08 was doing strange things.
The UI in the upper left was gone after a while playing.
My inventory/loot screen cloned themselves and I had two on my screen.
Couldn't do any gamepad options because it blended into the gun reloading part of the menu.
Clothes are still bugged as far as ripping them for bandages goes.
Melee still became bugged after an hour or so (ie: I couldn't swing any melee weapons)
On the bright side it introduces a couple of new items (cereal, dead rats) and pistols are held in your hands now.
well it started happening after i loaded the game 2-3 times.
i think on indiestone they said they're fixing it though.
Anyone got a download link besides the desura?
The link above is having a xml error for me.
Has desura got an updated version yet or are we still forced to using the 'test' version?
Desura is updated now.
Hot diggdy daffodil!
Bugs are still rife :/
Clicking on containers is still buggy as shit.
I put a whole load of stuff in a box in a warehouse to start a stash and came back a while later and everything was gone.
Quit out after sleeping, came back today and found every container in the warehouse had been refilled/all their contents was randomized again.
Also, the barricade I'd put up on a door was gone, but the door was fine.

Carpentry books don't seem to do anything currently
the "loot all" button on container windows doesn't work anymore
Holding "a" and "d" at the same time will make your character moonwalk, but I think this is more of a feature than a bug.
How do I actually climb through windows i've opened? I thought it would've been the Interact key, but that just shuts it again.

Hold "E".
I suggest using a controller... makes the game even more enjoyable and you can toggle the inventory/loot screens on and off.
I've been following the game and purchased it during Pre-Alpha and decided a long time ago to wait until the game was more updated. I am SO impressed with how far this has come! Downloading the new update now.
Its raining outside right now, and it is 3 AM, so everyone aside from the occasional driver is asleep.
I am using this opportunity to record 10 minutes of rain from my upstairs bathroom window with my high quality studio microphone. (Shure SM57). Filtered + amplified though a Xenyx 802 pre-amp.
I already recorded one session, unfortunately a car passed by so either I cut that down to 8 minutes, or I try a new set. I had the low range filtered out because there is a hum from an electric box from my neighbors house, so all you can hear is rain. The med-high ranges are still up, which makes it sound like normal rain.
I just recorded another 10min. session of just the midrange being audible. This sounds more like what you would hear with all the windows closed, as it has a very muffled sound to it. Unfortunately just as I was typing this, another car passed by at the 5 minute mark, so I'll have to cut that bit out, too. (Another car 8:38. >:( )
Now I am recording one with the low-med ranges filtered out. This sounds more like what you would hear if you were standing outside. (I keep hearing some form of faint siren at 8:30! What is that?!)
The reason I am saying this, is because I am going to use it for my SFM Outbreak/Pandemic series, in which many of the episodes will have rain. I am recording the different audio ranges because I want it to sound as real as possible wherever it is needed. And nothing gets realer than real rain.
That being said, since the audio is designed to fit my utility in whatever ranges I need, it is also available to be used in whatever ranges a video game would need. And because there is no really identifiable sounds to it, aside from the occasional car (which would be edited out), and the rain on the gutter, I would have no problem sharing these audio files with the Indie Stone dudes.
I think these different types of sounds would be of great benefit to Zomboid in establishing environment and feel. And now that I just finished the third file, I am going to take the recording equipment downstairs with my laptop and try to record the rain away from the gutters for a better "outdoorsy" sound.
EDIT: I'm trying another room first. This window is overlooking a roof, so I am recording the sound of rain on that. (This one has birds in it. And cars from a long distance, unfortunately.)
EDIT2: Ooh. I just caught the sound of a train passing through. Just as I finished that last recording! Very ominous sound. Kinda wish the rain wasn't in it, though.
EDIT3: And a jet. I'm not going to record any from downstairs because you can still hear the gutter just the same as upstairs. No audible difference. If I ever get a chance to set up my equipment outside without getting it damaged from rain, I'll have to take it.
Hey guys, where is the well located? I'm in desperate need of water.
How the fuck do you enable controller support?
How the fuck do you enable controller support?
Pretty sure it's not even in the game yet
Pretty sure it's not even in the game yet
Did the game not get updated with controller support?
Did the game not get updated with controller support?
I think it was just to show some of their secret stuff they were currently working on ... Along with the lan-multiplaying.
None of them is in the latest build, so i'd naturally assume it's not IN the game yet.
Uhh I'm pretty sure the patch notes for the latest version said controller support was in.
Uhh I'm pretty sure the patch notes for the latest version said controller support was in...
Yeah dude controller support is 100% in along with split screen multiplayer, I was streaming it yesterday on Twitch.tv - Build 08 for RC2.9 (Desura has this as its latest version)
Plug in your USB controller ( I use a Logitech F710 ) but you can use an Xbox or PS3 controller.. plug it in and the game will automatically pick it up and configure it the best it can (I had to change nothing if you do, look in your C:\Users\*pcname*\Zomboid\joypads for the config files of any gamepads your pc has recognised)
Once you're in the game world, press A (X if playstation) and a small popup will ask if you want to add a new player with the controller or take over player 1.. Take over player 1 and enjoy Project Zomboid with a controller.
The controls - For xbox/logitech.
Right Trigger = Attack (you can hold down to charge up swings)
Left thumbstick = Movement
Right thumbstick = Sneaking
A = Interact with doors/windows
B = Jumping fences, smashing windows and closing menus
Y = Show/Hide Loot/Inventory windows
X = Interact menu (x on window will show if you want to open it/smash it, place a sheet; whereas A will just attempt to open it)
Left Bumper (L1) - Cycle through your inventory and bags.
Right Bumper (R1) = Cycles through loot windows (cupboard, cupboard, cupboard, fridge)
D-Pad is to go up and down items in loot/inventory.
Start and select didn't do anything that I could see, same as L2.
This version does have both controller and split-screen support.
Plug in your controller in-game and press what would be "A" on an Xbox controller and a box shows up asking if you want to add a new player or take over your character with the controller.
Coop is fun, Tried it out the other day with a friend. Still needs some fine tuning but its great.
Crap late, Damn internet going out.

I'll be damned. My bad
Didn't work for me. I'm using a xbox 360 wired controller. Pressed every button nothing happened even plugged it out and back in. It randomly worked once but that's all so I don't know what to do
So it's been stated in the current build there are no survivor NPCs but on two occasions I've heard gunshots go off and zombies follow the noise and slain zombies in groups from time to time.
Is this just ambiance?

Because it's pretty damn eerie. Especially the second time, when I was about to go to sleep and I heard a shot.

Even in the previous build, I swear I heard gunshots on a couple of occasions. It definitely wasn't a house alarm because I was walking along the highway when I heard them.
shots are becouse of meta-events , there are no NPCS but the meta system is added in
