Sandbox mode will open very interesting possibilities in the future though. You can have plenty of survivors but no zombies, few sprinting zombies with survivors (28 Days Later-esque), or just hordes of ridiculously OP zombies and survivors, making a desperate struggle for survival.
Or you can do what the above poster did and basically suicide.

I would really like to see something like this. Have a large arena where pretty much everyone is a survivor, with maybe one zombie, but you turn into a zombie after one bite in a couple seconds. Just pretty much watching this ant colony of NPCs transition into zombies in the space of a minute.
On a side note, I would also really like to see infected dead laying around, and when they are turning, they would be doing all these convulsions and seizures as they lay on the ground. Have the time be variable so it could be done in seconds (like above), or drawn out over the course of hours.
And then of course abuse it so you have 100+ dead bodies on the ground doing the boogie-woogie-worm.

Oh man, that opens up another great opportunity. When they add military forces (a confirmed upcoming feature), we can make a sandbox with many survivors and some military, few Sprinter zombies, and it'd be like the first days of the outbreak or something. You'd slowly see more and more zombies.
Apparently I survived 20 hours.
And killed 14325 zombies.
Kay...
I survived 10 days yesterday which is my record. The only problems I've encountered so far have been that I am unable to consume any of the pills in the game, such as anti-depressants, beta block, painkillers etc. Has anyone else encountered this bug ?
I think you need access to water, either bottled in inventory (not stored) or drink from a tap or something.
I'm two months in so far. Quick tip to anyone else this far; rotted soup ingredients, when put together and cooked, make a normal pot of soup. The pot of soup never rots, so if you're worried about food supplies, just go out, grab everything rotten, and grab every cooking pot you can find, and bring them back. By this point, you should have rain barrels and a campfire, so fire/water shouldn't be an issue.
I really want to enjoy this but I'm having a hard time doing so. used to enjoy it a lot more back in RC 2.0 and 2.5, but after 3.0 I really lost interest for whatever reason. might be because I never got familiar with the new maps. don't really know what to do in the game anymore. find weapon, check. find a bag or so, check. find safehouse, check. now what? keep on looting? and at that point I quickly drop the game.

Once the overhauled NPCs are back in, and the military, vehicles, and other features are added, it'll be much more interesting.

Find a hammer and some nails. Then what I do is I bust down the doors with some blunt object like a golf club (or the hammer but IDK if it damages hammer), and I use the wood from the smashed doors to barricade my windows. Nails are a massive pain to find, but when I find a saw (and axe), I should be smooth-sailing in order to cordon a fairly decent region and begin farming once I find a trowel or shovel or something.

Oh god that's so nasty I'm gonna puke.
Haven't touched this game since I did this wayyy back: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1152576&p=35285679&viewfull=1#post35285679.
Really can't wait for the AI to improve to the point where stuff like that becomes a reality, but I just consider my purchase to be an investment and refuse to touch this game until its finished, otherwise I'm sure I would ruin the game before it really gets its legs under it.
Are there any full maps of the new levels? I want to go searching for stuff without getting completely lost
How does cooking work? Usually nothing happens even with the stove turned on. I got bacon cooking but it seemingly went from red raw straight to burnt.

I think if you don't have a frying pan or pot or something to cook the food in it just goes straight to burnt because your character is essentially slapping a piece of bacon on an open flame.
I just realized that drinking bleach was the reason behind my last three deaths
I guess I win the Darwin award

I only ever use meat to burn down houses i don't like/need, just leave some meat in an oven for a while and it'll set everything on fire
I'm having some problems with crashing, also both my axes have dissapeared which is shitty.
I thought they removed fire?
I thought they removed fire?
They did a while ago, but it's back.

It's back.
and hot.
Also, is there a way to fix the horrible fps problems? this computer can run bf4 on ultra but lags incredibly when 7+ zombies appear.

Isn't it always hot?
Ah cool. I'll have to have a play with that sometime. :v:
Anybody running this on Linux and through Steam? I'm on Ubuntu, and the game crashes whenever I click Launch

Zakk, try running the game at a lower resolution. I run at 1280x720 and it runs great. Wait for the GPU utilization to arrive and maybe even multithreading(?), and the game will run much smoother for you.
Note that in a pixel styled game such this, lowering the resolution shouldn't make things blurrier and harder to see, it will just make the pixels slightly larger. I play Cortex Command with this in mind, as although running it with large resolution allows me to see more on screen (and lag more), a lower resolution such as 1280x720 allows me to see the character and the close surroundings much clearer.
woke up to lots of banging. decided to look out the window

was your character bullied by any chance?

zombie herding
i have way too much freetime on my hands
I've spent the last 4 hours playing nothing but this damn game. How can it be so good? It's pretty much everything I want in a Zombie Survival game.
I've yet to see any fellow survivors, though. I hear gunshots here and there, but never seen any AI outside of the zombies. Or are there none? Patch notes say there are and stuff. Eh.
Anyway, probably best investment I've made all year. Just so fun.

Not yet sadly. The shots and stuff you hear are part of a AI director like thing, used to keep hordes on the go and stuff.
AI was in at one point but it was horribly broken.
Is there any help/tutorial missions on the steam version?
When you start a game, there are usually tutorial messages that pop up.
