When you start a game, there are usually tutorial messages that pop up.
I see, i'll have to play again in a few minutes then.
I bought this game a long time ago, how can I get it on steam without purchasing it again?

Go onto the desura website, log into your account on there and then there should be a list of games you have, you can click on the thing that says keys and it should give you an option to get a steam key.
And if you don't have a desura account if you bought it when it first came out go to the account recovery page on their website to convert to desura.
ok, so I've been out of the loop on this game since about February. have there been any major changes since then? I've updated to the latest steam version, and I'm not noticing much of a difference. Also, are there any mods or maps I should check out?
Been out of this game since before carpentry was added, downloaded it on Steam and began playing. 2 ingame hours later I accidently smashed a window and attracted a horde I couldn't fend off with my 4 carrots and an apple. RIP George Foreman.
I wanted to see what happened if I made loot extremely rare and I was surrounded with "insane" super-zombies. And by that I mean zombies with eagle-vision, bloodhound-smelling and pinpoint-hearing, while also being runners with Superhuman strength and highest toughness, distributed in uniform.
I survived about 2 hours. About one and a half of it was spent inside the initial spawn-house looking for a weapon.
I stepped outside the door and well...

I'd like to salute this soundtrack for effectively making me almost shit myself. Most of the music is either calm or bordering on unnerving, but this motherfucker sounds like boss-battle music, and it played right after I'd robbed a random house of its vegetables. I ran to a closet and just hid there until it stopped. What the fuck.
sweet jesus, going from .16 to .17 was a nightmare. it's literally unplayable for me now, oh well. better wait until some update strolls along i guess

.17 works fine for me.
I've accumulated another 5 hours on it.
Seriously how can a game be this addictive?

Aside from a few none game breaking bugs i agree, i've finally got all the stuff together for a successful farm and barricade wall to start making my own little fort.

How the hell do you farm even? :v:
I've read the "Farming for Beginners" but as soon as I try reading "Farming for Intermediates" the character complains it's too hard.
Had the tools as well, spades and watering cans.

Also, gonna try out Insomnia tomorrow.

Basically a mod where zombies during the day are harmless and during the night they become killer machines that know where you live. Barricade, barricade, barricade - or die.

the books are only boosts, so you still have to do stuff to level up that skill
C for skills page and H for health page. I think.

this made me laugh more than it should've
We might get shelves for carpentry soon if we're lucky, one of the devs apparently liked my suggestion :)

Looks like Project Zomboid has come a long way. I was one of the original backers and I barely touched it (due to my PC being unable to run the game).
How is it nowadays? All I remember is that I snuffed my wife with a pillow and it was horrifying.
I haven't played the game since I bought it back in mid 2011. Now I'm barricaded in a lumber mill farming strawberries. I had to run into town to get a towel and nearly died, I think i'l have to stick to the countryside.
I'm way too fucking tense for this game. My usual reaction in any horror game is to blast the ever lasting shit out of anything that moves and then some, in this game I feel terrified whenever I walk outside my tiny little sheeted up safe house not to mention when I have to fight a zombie.
This game has come an awful long way and is a lot more enjoyable to play.
Is there any way to skip that annoying intro scene when you play Survival? Also, is it perma-death? Also also, is Sandbox the same as Survival but with infinite lives?

The game is loading during the intro scene, if the game manages to load fast enough it'll give you a prompt to skip the scene by pressing the prompt.
Also sandbox is just like survival but with settings you can customize, you can for example set the zombie amount, zombie attributes, starting month, day length, loot rarity and all that good stuff.
Guys, I keep hearing gunshots in the distance.
Did they add back survivors?
The "too many items" mod is great. I just wish it had every item instead of only the useful ones.
how do i make the game not run like literal garbage
when i try to set the resolution down lower to make it run better, the ui gets all fucked, too.
Press F or G to lower the shadings, That usually fixes the performance.

yeah, i've done that
still trying to get used to the new mechanics. i barely played any of the game after the "3D" update came out so i am lost as fuck.
So how do I go about installing mods, anyways?
So how do I go about installing mods, anyways?
pz-mods.net
With the mods you download there usually is a Readme with installation instructions.
I really want this game...
I've noticed a lot of things don't actually do anything. Flour? Can't make your own loaves of bread. Coffee? Can't brew your own cups of it to keep you awake.
I can't wait for them to add those little bits in. Currently, putting everything in the oven to make it (frying pan etc. etc.) is silly.
How do you know if something is cooked or how long it has left till it's done?
