How do you know if something is cooked or how long it has left till it's done?
it's renamed to "cooked something". just keep checking on the food, there is no timer until it's done or anything like that
How do you know if something is cooked or how long it has left till it's done?
It's name changes from uncooked to cooked. And I'm not sure you can figure out time remaining. [editline]Edit:[/editline] Bastard. Any way to make the controls for breaking or climbing through windows better? I always have problems finding the right place to click to get the "climb through" option, and often when I try to use E it just closes the window again.

I've also noticed a faint red tinge that slowly becomes deeper and darker the closer the item is to being cooked. It kinda gives you an estimate of how long it'll take to cook. Bacon takes forever!
I can never get into this game. My last run just randomly got ill from eating a bit of burnt salmon and turned into a zombie. It seems that within a thirty metre radius of where I spawned, there are ridiculous amounts of zombies or I keep spawning in the same useless rural areas with nothing around for miles.
decided to start a new game in west point, and it has gone surprisingly well so far first off, I spawned at some hotel in the middle of the town. bad news. decided to loot the motel, but found nothing but towels and sheets. found the kitchen, grabbed a kitchen knife and decided to head out in hope to find something else. too many zombies everywhere, so I decide that I have to fight my way through. first zombie I kill drops an axe. wow. so I grab the axe, kill some more zombies to get me through, and then I find a large hiking bag. great. the condition of the axe was quickly dropping though, and I figured it'd be more handy to chop wood than killing zombies. so I decided I'd try finding a new weapon, and a few more kills later, (had to so I could get anywhere) a zombie drops me a baseball bat. wow! finally I get out of the town. I'm then forced to kill a few more zombies, and one of the zombies carry another. fucking. axe. I drop a few things so I could carry it, and now I'm currently looking for a safehouse. all in all, really good start. managed to loot a grocery store as well and managed to pick up around 15 soda bottles, 9 bags of chips, 4 chocolate and tons of lollipop.
I haven't played in nearly a year and want to start up again now that i have it on Steam. Are there any mods you guys recommend I put in first?
I'm thinking about getting a lockpicking mod if it means I can get into houses without setting off that damn alarm every time. They even go off if I enter a shed! Who puts a security alarm in their shed?
Are the two starts the same map?
I hate that one ambient track that begins with a kick drum. Scares the fuck out of me for no reason.
I don't like the new sound tracks, old ones were better.
Has the split-screen been worked on at all? Last time I tried it half of player 1's controls would also control player 2 and a bunch of other crap.
If the devs got anything right, it was making improvised weaponry encouraged. I once started a game with only a few small cramped houses; all three of them had clothes, food, water, between both some match boxes and a fuck ton of cigarettes but no weapons. Time was running short and the area was crawling with undead, so I had to find some sort of weapon to fight them off... then it dawned on me. The two houses had an ungodly amount of silverware. BEWARE UNDEAD OF ALL TYPES, FOR I HAVE A LIFE TIME SUPPLY OF CIGARETTES AND ENOUGH SPOONS (which for some reason are bladed weapons) TO LIBERATE THE ENTIRE WORLD!
does it close the window even when you hold E?
That worked, thanks! Any chance dragging furniture is still a feature in the game? I can't remember what button made that happen in previous versions, and I don't see it in controls.
Maybe I'll try this again some other day, but I just had an awful experience with this game. It seems like the creators made a small town surrounded by a vast wilderness of nothing. I left the house I was in, stumbled through a trailer park and then ended up on a road that led nowhere. For 20 minutes I ran. And ran. And ran. And ran. And found nothing. Terrible.

For those of you who are playing and don't know, you can fill cups full of water then stick them inside a bag for safe keeping. Which is surprising considering the lack of lid.

I see where I went wrong. I wish I had known this already. Thanks though!!

If you want to run away from the city you spawn in, stick to the highway. :v:
The new map is great, two months in and the first town is running low of supplies, now I need to pack up and move onto the next one.
The new map is great, two months in and the first town is running low of supplies, now I need to pack up and move onto the next one.
How the hell do you survive any longer than a week? :v: I run out of supplies within that time and I can't scavange a lot of food considering a lot of it needs to be kept cold - and electricity runs short after about a week anyway.
gotta make rain barrels and farming plots
This.
Damn it... on day 2 I got a scratch but seemed to manage pretty fine... on day 3 I accidentally burned half my house down trying to make TV dinner and got severely burnt... knowing I wouldn't make it without neither food and with severe injuries... I just went out and fought some zombies and after killing 2 of them my injuries got too grave and I just fell over and died :v:
guys I walked through the wall and it made my game crash
I'm about to start a game now, from scratch, what should I do to start off, I have no idea what to do, I just roam around and pick stuff up and sleep haha, I need motivation to play it a while
Somehow my framerate has gotten worse in this version than it was in the last.
Would drinking out of rain barrels be detrimental to ones health?
Would drinking out of rain barrels be detrimental to ones health?
Nope. Dat shit comes straight from the sky.
I'm really glad it rains a lot since watering crops is so damn tedious, i really hope they stream line the planting and watering of the seeds
