Yes and the pre-beta is available
Wouldn't a pre-beta just be alpha...?
Wouldn't a pre-beta just be alpha...?
I don't know, it's not an official release but when it is it will be Beta, so i guess it's Beta just before it's out.
If that makes any sense
still no FP server? got one running on my VPS after fixing a dependency spaghetti. I'm not sure if you can connect at all or if it's just me, but the server should be running.
could someone test for me? IP is
pred.me
or if game doesn't support connecting to domains
95.85.53.195
so, i gave shit to project zomboid on its trip to steam, cuz i could barely run it at the time.
but, i am really fuckin impressed with how the multiplayer came out.
it runs great, and it just all around works.
im not sure if me being impressed with something working is commendable but not, but i mean, the multiplayer runs fantastic and has brought the game into a-whole-nother dimension.
i bought 2 copies for my friends and forced my cousin to get it so we could start a 4 person server. so far, im lovin the hell out of it. not to mention being on a persistent server that lasts longer than your own death really goes to show how the world degenerates around you, especially on 24/7 servers.
dead zombies literally everywhere, all the food is rotten, electricity is out, every supply raided, etc. then the whole idea that everyone has is that westpoint is mecca compared to muldraugh, when in fact its just the same town with the same problems.
i mean, shit, I actually feel like im surviving a zombie apocalypse.
i also get emotionally invested a bit into my characters, too, without me realizing till either one of the random guys i was rolling with gets bit, or i do.
so all in all, this game is made 10 times more brilliant with the multiplayer, and the zomboid staff hammered it out good.
I wonder how would you react emotionally in the situation that happened to me on PvP server, I also played on PvP for the first time. I've played for 3 hours, looted best gear possible, a great bag to carry stuff, some food, tools, fire axe, pistol with 40 rounds. I walk in to loot this house then I suddenly hear something hitting the window, I ran outside and player approached me, I said hi, I'm being nice and everything, the other player seemed nice too and responded to me, I asked " is there anything you need?" the other player said no, so I stood there typing another sentence while the bastard ran at me and stabbed me with a knife until I had critical bleeding damage, I hit with my axe twice but I think due to latency it didn't land, I went down just like that in a matter of few seconds, all the effort was gone to someone who turned away my positive proposition and simply killed me to spoil my fun.
That sucks man.

That kind of answers my "kill other players" question, sorry to hear that bro.
Does this game still have serious framerate issues with 2 story buildings? Specifically when you go to the second floor?
Any servers that fpers currently play on?
Does this game still have serious framerate issues with 2 story buildings? Specifically when you go to the second floor?
I cannot say since I'm running a pretty good rig, but it does make me sad a bit since there are no major cities like with skyscrapers or office buildings, it would be amazingly fun to explore these floor by floor, but I can't imagine how it would work since there is always this issue with building squares showing up and blocking the vision, especially if you walk outside and I bet walking behind a tall building like that would take up a lot of screen space but I guess some sort of visual switch would be good, one that displays full scale building when you stand in front and once you go behind it then it would become transparent and display only base floor.
Are they also planning to work on visuals further in the game? There is plenty of things that could be added and just simply having some form of variation would be great or even possibly added via modding.

Didn't the old map used to have >2 story buildings? I'm sure I recall hiding out in a big apartment building.
And there is the 3D Character Model system that is in the works, waiting for the bugs to be ironed out.
Okay so me and Wealth+Taste have been playing Multiplayer all night long and we made our way to West Point after a 2 day trip, when we got to West Point we quickly setup a safe house in one of the nearest homes, then we waited the night out and passed a church that had like half of it's windows broken out but here is the fun part.
We stumbled upon an 3 story office building and entered the top floor through the fire escape, we when got inside the alarm immediately went off and we quickly checked the 3rd and 2nd floors, taking whatever we can, but just when we were about to dash out of there, the zombies outside had flooded the entire 2nd floor and we were trapped inside of a remote closet, before we tried to leave the zombies finally began coming up the stairs and we quickly ran to the farthest office.
We closed the door and there we about 4-5 zombies pounding on the door so we decided to open the door and take them out with our firearms, we killed 4 zombies but there were about 25 more or so flooding into the room behind them so we then ran into this other room nearby that was connected to the room we were currently in.
We get in the room and slam the door shut and prepare for a final stand but then we realize that the room had a window and we quickly made a sheet rope out of our own clothing and macgyvered our way down back to ground on our sheet rope made out of our own clothing.
After that we quickly sprint out of there and ride off into the sunset wearing absolutely no clothing.
our escape really was a modern miracle
I give us about a week max in west point before we become zombie food

here's our humble little safehouse

You never realize how so many people can be killed by zombies even when they have guns like they are in 28 Days/Weeks until you go into Sandbox and make them Sprinters.
It was a brutal fight with the 5 iron, as evident by the blood all over the wall. And I prevailed, but died where I stood when I struck the lethal blow

Shit's hard
First impression with Multiplayer was running around for 20 minutes without finding anybody, then finally starving because everything was looted already and getting stuck at spawn while getting burned alive by somebody.
Meh, waiting for further updates or an FP server.
I've been trying to get into some multiplayer action but for some reason the game just keeps loading after I try to join one. Anyone know how to fix this? http://puu.sh/76vAn.png
[editline]22nd February 2014[/editline]
Well I managed to fix that (for some reason it doesnt happen if I dont put in a username) but now my and my buddy have a problem finding a server where the world isnt completely looted and fucked

play with friends.
I'm really enjoying the multiplayer so far, even with just friends.
I can imagine running into groups of other survivors you don't know would be awesome, but there's plenty of time for that.
Anyone want to play? I still haven't had a chance to play online yet.
Damn they really need to give someone else the job of writing up update posts, RobertJohnson's english is almost painful to read.
Anyone got a server?
it's been a while since I played PZ. Are there NPCs? I keep hearing gunfire, is it just ambience?
so a friend bought this game for him and i to play with another friend.
2nd player already played a bunch and had me host a server for all of us.
we all decide to start our fort at some old shack in the middle of nowhere forest land.
just as we had all of our loot stashed away in it my buddy figures out how to use the oven to cook some steak but burns down the shack with me inside...
first death goes to the environment.

go here and get the beta
be warned, it will probably be really buggy
[editline]8th March 2014[/editline]
[BUGFIX]
Remove plant action is now synchronized.
Some fix on farming (plant was here but unusable, ...).
Added a warning message if you try to type an unknow command in the chat (like if you type "/al Hello !" you'll have a "unknow command /al Hello !" warning in the chat box).
Now trim the /all message (understand you can't just write "/all").
Rain barrel are now loaded on player connect.
Fixed missing pillar sprites when building stairs (and also made them destroyable).
Fixed tomato instant growing.
Fixed building walls problem with a controller plugged.
Bleach is Unhappiness +99 instead of -10 (used to make you happy?)
Craftable doors could be opened from far away by clicking on them.
Synced burning players and zombies. The player might be burning on the server but not on the client before.
Fixed never-wake-up from sleep bug.
No more barricading crafted walls, or adding sheet ropes to crafted walls.
Fixed Survival Guide contents being drawn over the title bar.
When a player died in multiplayer, all the other players would equip the dead player's stuff.
The "Climb through window" context menu command now works if you are trapped in a piece of furniture next to a window. Holding 'E' already worked.
Fixed moodles sometimes overlapping.
Fixed animation speed of rain and fire at different FPS.
Fixed save folders with spaces not loading. Although the game converts spaces to underscores when creating a savefile, there is nothing from stopping the user from renaming the folder.
Fixed sheet rope climb speed not being affected by the speed control setting.
MP: Scratches from weapons would cause infection.
Fixed water remaining in sinks/toilets not being remembered properly.
Make sure tooltips get hidden when windows are hidden.
Stopped zombies thumping crafted stairs, so they can climb them now.
Fixed path separators in the joypad directory on Linux.
Fixed the Caps Locks key breaking savefile names etc.
MP: Less weirdness with blood/animations when fighting zombies.
[NEW STUFF]
Added the number of players connected in the PLAYERS list (press escape and click "PLAYERS").
You now can't join a server with an empty user name.
Added a "QUICK JOIN" button in the server list, allowing you to join the server without save it in the list.
Safety System : http://theindiestone...uild-25-is-out/
Added key binding for Local chat, Global chat and Toggle safety.
The on/off state of stoves is saved.
The inventory window font size can be changed between Small, Medium and Large fonts.
Set Disabled=true in a game controller *.config file to ignore that device.
The Heavy Load moodle now has 4 different settings (only 1 was shown before). The player is slowed down more with increasing weight up to 2x maximum carrying capacity.
MP: Synced zombie appearance. Ditto for zombie corpses.
Added "Remove sheet rope" command. You get the sheets back but not the nail.
Added "Climb through" command to crafted window frames, same as normal windows.
MP: Reduced book reading time by 1/2.
MP: Synced thunder and lightning.
MP: Synced weather-related stuff such as temperature, phase of the moon, and nighttime brightness.
Return to menu. After death or exiting, the game returns to the main menu.
Mods are loaded/unloaded as soon as the Mods window is closed.
MP: Added player slow-down when zombies grab.
MP: Sync zombie sounds.
There's a -nosound option that disables audio.
[OTHER]
Changed the calcul in the eat 1/4,1/2 food option (it's now always based on the base hunger reduction).
[CLIENT]
Map choose + Character creation + Random spawn point added. Note : Random spawn point can be changed by the admin so everyone could spawn at the same point, but by default it'll be random (just like single player).
Servers in ServerList will be pinged, so you can see if they are online, the number of players connected...
[SERVER]
The server welcome message is now in the server options (Users/Zomboid/Server/ServerOptions.ini only on server side) ready to be customized.
Soft world reset. Will remove zombies, bodies, loot, reset all containers in world. Will leave all construction in place.
Database will now be created if not found on the server.
Added a LogLocalChat server option, used to log the local chat ("t" key) in all the client chat box.
Added AutoCreateUserInWhiteList Server option : If you server is open, this option will allow the server to create the user in whitelist if they entered the server with a password, so his username will be protected.
DisplayUserName : False = you won't see another players username on top of their head + their name won't be logged inside the local chat (true by default).
Added administration tools : http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/5813-how-to-administrate-a-server-once-build-25-is-out/
thats the changelog

Excuse me? I was making popcorn.
it's been a while since I played PZ. Are there NPCs? I keep hearing gunfire, is it just ambience?
The gunfire is just the metagame making noise to move zombies around. As of now, there are no NPCs
I'm getting some pretty horrible bugs, but when I google them I can't find them as all I'm getting are posts from previous, years-old versions.
Occasionally, my backpack/worn container will unequip itself. This renders the items inside inaccessible. When this happens, I can no longer re-equip a bag until I restard the game.
Also, crafting seems horribly broken. I right click > craft, get the menu, select an item, and it all goes to shit. I get 'rorate left' and 'rorate right' (yes, rorate) plastered on my screen and it doesn't disappear. A duplicate of the item I'm crafting is stuck to the centre of the screen. Clicking anywhere else will about 1/100 show a progress bar of crafting, but then I'm just left with invisible structures randomly in my vicinity. I don't get it at all.
Are these normal or is it just me?
