Looking for a small private server to join. Public servers allow for easy stealing, and make it hard to advance a safehouse, etc. as of right now.
Okay so I've been surviving for about 1.4 months and I've had this garden area for about three weeks: Just now though, I got jumped by dead head inside it, only question is how the hell did it get in? The door to the south-east used to be level 1 and one of the windows to the south-west only had one board, I reinforced them both after this happened. The window to the north-east leads into my safe-house. Any ideas? I kinda want to make sure this won't happen again, nearly gave me a heart attack.
My guess is that it's just spawning inside, and it may or may not continue to happen until the devs become aware and adjust how the zombies spawn.

Not much point if they'll just spawn inside it.
Probably late topic, but anyone else think that the newly added sound tracks post-1.5d (i think that's the right build) are plain boring? Like, the first three tracks that were in the game were perfect, but everything else they added feels like it tries to fit but doesn't.
Is anyone in here good with lua?
Bump, just go this from the sale. Any tips for a newbie? If I can last 2 days then I'm lucky :v: just not sure what I should be doing early on so I pretty much just end up wandering around killing zeds
I pretty much just end up wandering around killing zeds
you are now an expert on project zomboid

Collect garbage bags whenever you see them, you'll need them to make Rain Barrels for survival after the water shuts off. Always, always eat your non-perishable foods last. Before the water shuts off, hoard anything you can fill with water and fill them with it, store them in your safe house. This way, when the water DOES shut off, you'll have at least a week's supply of water, which should give you enough time to start making rain barrels. Drink from sinks while the water is still on, never ending supply of water. Sneak around everywhere, this will help avoid unwanted attention and you'll work toward getting better at Sneak/Light Footed/Nimble. The fire Axe is hands down the best damn melee weapon you can possibly find, and its pretty damn rare to boot. If you see one, grab it. The pistol should only be used in emergencies, like if you're mobbed by a hoard. The shotgun is beastly and can take out a hoard easily. The shotgun will also attract every zombie for 4,000 miles to you. In order to use sheet rope, you need a hammer & one nail (at least) in your main inventory. You'll see a 'Add Sheet Rope' option when right clicking the windows, you need one sheet rope for every floor it goes down. So if you're on the second floor, you'll need two, if you're on the third floor, you'll need three etc. The dead heads can't climb sheet rope, so if you really wanted to you could barricade all ground level entrances, using sheet ropes to get in and out of your safe house. If you installed a sheet rope in a window, using the 'climb through' option will climb down the sheet rope, no idea why it doesn't change to something like 'Climb down sheet rope' but there you go. Having more than one 'safe haven' pays off in the long run, even if it's just a small, easily barricaded building you boarded up. Lets you go out further and gives you another safe place to sleep. Finally, the official wiki is here: http://pzwiki.net/wiki/Main_Page
I really can't seem to find an answer so I was wondering if any of you knew how to set up sandbox mode for multiplayer? I can host a server fine, but I don't know how to set it up for sandbox.
It's already set on sandbox, but you have to go into the installation folder, and there's a sandbox settings file that runs you through all the settings you can change. After you have them all right, click save. The output folder should be steam/steamapps/common/projectzomboid/media/lua/shared/sandbox. Then you run your server (delete or back-up any server saves in /YourFolder/Zomboid/Multiplayer. The actualy server config is in YourFolder/Zomboid/Server and you can edit general server properties there.

Maybe some fucking day we'll get multiplayer worth playing.
... Louisville, or at least the part on the Kentucky side of the river, Brandenburg, and of course Fort Knox will all be on the agenda, though the latter may need to wait for NPCs to drop so we can get the military in there.
Huh. I wonder what the military will be like. Friendly and helpful? Or just angry and shoot anything that moves because can't let that zombie shit spread. I imagine they'd eventually die out though. If its all based on meta events and junk to simulate NPCs, if they get say, attacked, they'd probably shoot the zombies. And attract a lot more zombies.

And attract a lot more zombies.
Some of the background story for Zomboid is that the disease is endemic to certain regions in Kentucky, which the national guard places into quarantine. Some of towns and cities contained within this quarantine zone are: Louisville, Fort Knox, West Point, and Muldraugh. As far as military interaction, I imagine they will start neutral initially, and only get hostile if you show intention of trying to pass their road blocks. As time passes and more people will in no doubt attack these road blocks in order to flee the quarantine, they will more than likely adopt a shoot-on-sight strategy. This could range anywhere between where they shoot anyone holding a gun, or where they shoot anyone and everyone that isn't in uniform. I imagine you would have a higher chance to see more aggressive military in Fort Knox than you would at road blocks. The meta events are probably intended to be designed to follow the spread of the disease towards pandemic levels, and spread beyond the quarantine zone and further into the United States, and even further still into other countries. When the lights cease to work and the water supply fails, you can safely assume that the normal civil life outside of the quarantine zone that is required to keep these power plants functioning properly, has been disrupted severely and probably to the point of disrepair.
I will consistently get into shit situations that make me go "wow how the fuck did I not get scratched there" and then the next day I'll walk outside and kill one zombie and it will fucking infect me from a full 2 meters away. I have a feeling this isn't my problem but some kind of hit detection issue.
Haven't played zomboid in a while. Not going to lie, I am actually impressed at how far they've come.
Nevermind. I can't remember that information anyways.
I always turn
I have been eating nothing but butter and painkillers for 3 days. To top it off I ate bad broccoli and 6 hours later I erupted in a fountain of blood.
I have been eating nothing but butter and painkillers for 3 days. To top it off I ate bad broccoli and 6 hours later I erupted in a fountain of blood.
nice. I was just thinking "doesn't eating painkillers on a empty stomach hurt you?" but I don't think it's documented in a wiki. I could be wrong
Is this game worth it? I'm not really interested in multiplayer, I just wanna do shits in singleplayer. I was going to get it in the sales, but I passed on it because I thought I wouldn't actually play it. I feel I was mistaken.
it's pretty solid except for the slightly more boring map and the fact that they're taking ages developing human npcs
The UI is clunky to the max too. Every time I play I spend most of my time just trying to deal with the inventory.
Picked this up in the sale and went on an alcohol-fueled rampage over the weekend in this game. I think I managed to last like... a week before I got molested by zombie sickness or something. Seems pretty fun and smashing in heads with a baseball bat is rather satisfying. I can see it has potential.

Waiting in Multiplayer or doing stuff at night to avoid boredom kinda sucks. Also, it's usually more stable in general. The only thing that you have to wait on to make it better is NPC's and vehicles and all that stuff.
My first character lasted a few days in game before he got bitten. So I made him drink 2 bottles of bleach and eat 3 whole bottle of various pills, he then sat down on a couch and died. Wellp.

I don't know why, but I laughed way too hard just now
9/10 of my deaths consist of me going "Whelp, fuck it!" and killing myself
So we made a sheet rope entrance to our base, and cut off the stairs. My buddy accidentally removes the sheet rope, then he climbs out of the two-story building. Breaks his legs practically. Then later on before I manage to fix the window, he says he's going to get some supplies and decides to climb out the same window. Needless to say he died very soon thereafter.
Played Zomboid again after a long break. Really coming along nicely. My biggest want? Vehicles. These new maps are fucking huge and I usually end up exhausting supplies within a relatively small area around my hideout and than get too bored to walk 10 minutes to the next supply point and give up. Vehicles would really help.
