Okay, you guys should consider reading the blogposts they release cause they stated that the NPCs will be one of the last things they do before leaving Early Access, and they plan to do Vehicles.
When the bloody hell are we getting new clothing and visible items like backpacks, hats, glasses, masks, etc.
You'd think for a game like this, it'd be a priority.
So is there any way to disable fog of war yet?
probably one of the worst design choices in that game

I think we all have. I still believe they're making good steady process but I think we are just sorta publically broadcasting what we are most excited for but the long wait doesn't help.

I have absolute no problem with it, and to be honest, i think it's one of the better features of this game.
This gives you the impression to stay on your fucking toes, and actually keep watch, instead of just moving out to some general spot of some area, so you can see everything, even around the corners.
It makes you spin around like a dumb goat that's what it does
He's right. The fog of war turns you into a walking radar.
That being said, removing it might not be so great either. Maybe better positional audio cues would work. You know, some kind of 3D audio just like the FPS games. But I guess that would be even more confusing if the player still spins around all the time.

I wish it just was optional. Everybody would be happy then
Or at least disable field-of-vision, so there is still the important element of zombies out of sight, but you don't have to spin around as if you've got a neckbrace, like some kind of paranoid spotlight.
I remade a basic version of that store scene in UE4 just to get a vague glimpse at what zomboid would have looked like in 3D. Includes before/after of power failure.

I've always felt like PZ suffers quite heavily from being isometric.
There's such a huge amount of clutter that it becomes straining to play, along with the controls feeling unnecessarily clumsy, accentuated by the clutter that can be present indoors.

Just in today.
Now that's what I like to see.
Looks fuckin awesome.

I must say that PZ looks a nice bit more responsive now that it's going with 3D-characters.
Not to mention the ease it does to modding, when adding a new weapon for example is not going to require matching a sprite-sheet to the animations.
So aside from clothes, animations and NPCs, what else has to be done before the game could be titled 1.0?
Vehicles.
Oh. They should just have static cars littering the streets and postpone drive-able vehicles until after 1.0.
e: But re-add wheelie bins.
Last time I played PZ in multiplayer, the map chunks wouldn't load fast enough if you upgraded your sprinting. I don't understand how they'll get vehicles to work with that performance.
This was after the update they allegedly increased the performance.
I also remember the multiplayer getting really laggy after certain amount of players and zombie activity. Adding NPCs on top of that doesn't sound feasible. This was a while ago, though.
would there be any demand for a facepunch-aimed server for this game? i just bought it for a friend and myself but i can't manage to host my own server no matter what i try so i've been considering just renting one, would anybody else be interested if i ended up doing it? i wouldn't want the spare slots to go to waste and this game seems most fun in multiplayer but joining public servers usually sucks
May of 2016, it has now been officially five years since I bought this game in early access because the (undelivered) promise of NPCs lured me in.

This. I wouldn't say NPCs lured me into buying it. However, After playing a lot, they announced they are nearing NPC release, so I was going to wait until they release them before playing anymore. Now its been years and no signs of NPCs. What in the world. Either this is the most advanced NPCs we have ever seen, or they are bad at making a game.

It's the second one.
While I'm just as pissed as you guys, that NPC's are taking as long as they are.
You can't shit on the devs that much, they ARE making some cool stuff, and it'll be coming, within months, in the form of their animation update.

While they are definitely not the fastest devs, they've stuck with their game after all these years.
And as a game developer myself, that is something I can guarantee you, is very difficult to do.
Yea people give the devs so much shit just because of the lack of NPCs. They were a small team, still are, and one of the first early access'ers. What they've made is still really fun. Not to excuse that they made a promise of NPCs that hasn't been delivered, but its no surprise things went the way they have.
It's not just the lack of NPCs, it's just the insane amount of time this game has been in development. People used to try and justify it with the robbery, but even that massive setback is now ~4.5 years in the past. There's just no excuse to still not be in sight of a full release.

The most frustrating part is that simple, dumb NPCs have already been implemented into the game. They're yet to be reimplemented because the devs have decided they want to introduce really good and competent and awesome and innovative NPCs right off the bat.
So nowadays when people are still waiting years and years for NPCs and they refuse to implement them even in their primitive simple stages, it just seems like blatantly ignoring what the people who are giving you money want.
It's even gone as far to the point where someone was about to release a really cool buddy companion NPC mod that got shut down for some reason. I just really really want NPCs in this game.
The devs also mentioned they wanted to get all these little systems/features in place and working before they concentrated too much on NPCs, because they didn't want each new feature addition to "break" the NPC behavior. It's just the problem with their process in general. They keep adding all these little features and just keep putting off the important things.
I actually did try to play it again a month or two ago, me and my roommate decided to try some coop. He's never played it before, I was one of the first backers. We were both bored of the game within a hour. Yes, there have been improvements, but in general it's still the same shit I played 3 years ago.

I played the game when the simple AI was in the game. It was terrible. They really broke any immersion because they were that dumb.

I remember angry yelling at one for taking all my bed sheets. Then he one shotted me with a hammer.

Reeks of gross mismanagement.
