I played the game when the simple AI was in the game. It was terrible. They really broke any immersion because they were that dumb.
It wasn't that bad. They definitely added some hilarity to the game with their mindless retard behavior, but I would 100% prefer that to years and years of waiting for NPCs that just don't seem to be coming at all.
By this point, i'd love it if they could add just SOME sort of vehicle to help traverse the fucking long-ass walking distance from one town to the other, and generally some other places far off in between.
Fuck, i wouldn't even care if they added something like this
[t]http://d1whee3s2ff61n.cloudfront.net/product/large/145358.jpg[/t]
On the bright side they finally added sleeping in multiplayer. :suicide:
At least they haven't abandoned the game and still update it regularly, unlike a lot of early access games out there which are abandoned the moment the money starts pouring in.
Yes, let us dress up the fucking zombies instead, that is exceptionally crucial.

Played it again today after putting it away for almost a year. I mean, it's better than last time and it's better than the tech demo shit I paid for years ago (of which I still have a few of them, might be fun to start one of them up and compare).
But it hasn't progressed in a meaningful way for me to care about investing any time in it. There's more little bullshit time wasters and mechanics, but the core gameplay hasn't really been expanded or evolved since the beginning.
I check this thread whenever a new post pops up, thinking maybe a good update has come out and almost always I'm met with a feeling of "meh". It's not a bad game, it's just not interesting enough to me after so many years waiting for it to "get there".
They REALLY need to dig into the damn core mechanics and gameplay, or the actual lack off such. I haven't been that bothered before about their development before, but it's actually starting to get to me now that they prioritize that the zombies get their "Career-clothing"
You guys don't genuinely think they're just working on making zombie clothes and not working on NPCs, vehicles, core game mechanics, etc - right?
[editline]14th June 2016[/editline]
I mean I totally understand the frustration - I do agree, having backed it right from the beginning it's been ridiculously slow to be developed, but they're obviously going to see it through to the end and I don't think we'll be disappointed - I'm happy to just keep checking back on progress.
This game is still not finished? I swear I bought this in like 2006, or was it 2009? I have no idea what account I even bought it on any longer. :v:
I was really looking forward to it too, I really hate these new graphical changes, the game has lost a ton of its original charm. I can't believe I was excited for NPCs back then.

I'm surprised that the dev team is still as small as it is right now. Kinda figured they'd move into a bigger setup and hire more people once they got money moving, and as ambitious as this game is I feel that they really need it.
Beam.NG for example started out as a small group like this, and more than doubled their employed workers on the game.
I mean, at the rate they're moving, it looks like this game's 1.0 release won't be until 2020-2024
They really need a roadmap or something of the sorts, like Subnautica. I stopped funding early access titles that lack roadmaps for this very reason.
That being said, I'm blown away by how complicated this game is now, especially compared to the original early access. The problem is, that its almost too complicated. Finding information on almost anything in this game is difficult since the wiki isn't really updated frequently anymore.
I assume they're still working on cars and NPC's, but considering that they originally announced this 2 years ago, now they're adding welding, forging and loads of other features. But I can't find hardly anything in terms of updates to NPC's or cars, its concerning to say the least.
All that said, I really like the game, clocked in over 50 hours in the past week, loads of fun. About 2 months in, no radio stations seem to work though, helicopter events have stopped it seems and my safe house feels invincible. Went to west point to raid and grab recipe magazines, problem is there's a fucking horde on every street corner, parked out in front of every house. I know its a high residential area, but fuck the amount of Z's here I'd expect every house to be home to a 10+ person family before the event.

Haaahaha.
They're still busy with the damn clothes as they have been for fucking months now...
Who still plays (In Australia or New Zealand)?
Can't stand the game when my ping is over 150.
The new build is out, anyone played it?
The new build is out, anyone played it?
I've had at the IWBUMS up until this point. I don't even remember when the steamworks multiplayer system was implemented into PZ, but it has certainly made multiplayer games ALOT easier. No more figuring out to set up a damn server, no more port-forwarding nightmares and easy-peasy workshop mod alignment with host/players.
I played a bit last night. The new location based voip is great for multiplayer, found a small group of survivors, we cried and mourned for each other as we were picked off one by one.
They really need to get the clothing system out, there is no telling between a new spawn and a vet. The game still feels dry in those areas. Also they added another map section which is really not needed, the map is already massive, and without cars its not worth walking 20mins to explore.
Holy shit!
Actual fucking work, on actual fucking vehicles. Also, stashes, maps and shit.

These are the kind of things that's gonna fling this shit into gear. New game mechanics, instead of working months and MONTHS on god damn animations and clothing.
stashes are gon' be gud
Now we're fucking chooching! MORE VEHICLE WORK!
Feedback so far shows that the streaming seems to work extremely well, and the vehicles controls and handles surprisingly well considering the isometric perspective. You use a radial menu to start the car, rolling down windows, turn on the heater, change seats, or play with the car radio. It’s also extremely fun running over zombies–as you can imagine!
Hopefully we get to rig some cars up down the line.
If your character dies and you make a new one, will you see your old character as a zombie? as I just read people saying how long it takes for your body to reanimate

Yeah, I usually lock myself in a room if I get bitten and have decent supplies on me. My next char will hunt ex-me down for the loot.

Awesome, just started playing again after not playing for ages, played since like midday lol, lasted 6 days in game so far, i think that's the longest i've ever lasted for, got a load of food supplies and seeds, now starting to build a fence around my homebase, also any tips are welcome
Is there any way we can get the OP updated, despite the guy being banned? Such outdated info makes the game look bad :)
I recently started playing it after owning the game for years, as the recent progress made me really excited for it. Can't wait for vehicles!

Try PM'ing a mod. They might be able to do something.
Just playing some more now, was moving stuff around in my base and a little red square at the bottom right of my screen popped up with the number 514, does anyone know what that means?
Edit: something to do with bugs, I think it was just something i did in the crafting menu
I'm not sure if this is worth bumping the thread for, but there's now actually a mod that adds NPCs into the game. It's been out for a while this point so I was really surprised I hadn't seen it sooner. Thought you guys would want to know.
They're not the in depth group forming live-their-own-lives NPCs that the devs seem to want to add, but they're enough to add a whole new element to playing the game. You can recruit some, some will be dangerous, and they seem to need to eat and take care of themselves or else they'll die. It's good stuff.
Jesus Christ, I just remembered that I own this game. I bought it so fucking long ago. I think the game has been in development for so long that a ton of other games are catching up and might surpass it.
Game was amazing for what it was when it was first released and the Devs were regularly churning out updates. But then shit happened, it took a nosedive. Now the game is pretty limp compared to others in this day and age. 6 years hasn't helped it age well.
