Does anyone remember that fucking awesome Dynasty Warriors mod made by some Chinese guys for Warband? It had tons of amazing features, like health bars over NPCs, epic general duels in the middle of battle, where you weren't attacked by anybody but the other troop's leader, and more.
Such a shame they never gave their stuff to the other modders/nobody used it. It was pretty amazing.
Here, I actually recorded a battle back when I used to play that mod.

His healthbar always replenishes because he has too much HP.
I hope a Napoleonic Wars 2 comes out with BL.
What kind of budget do they have with bannerlord? Cause i assumed from The original game that they probably had less than 20 guys.
Just thinking that a Mount and blade game with a high budget could bring large scale medieval combat into the mainstream.
Iron Europe, the WWI mod for Napoleonic Wars is being released later this month.
I am ready.
Maybe the lanisters have golden crested helms. Though maybe that part was just about the lanisters royal guard. (not sure, might have seen it somewhere else) Though i definetly remember arya describing some variety in lanister armour (when she's trying to stab them). One wore brigadine. Most wore mail. Could mean that they all wear brigadine and mail.. but i have my doubts.
Another thing: Most of the armies ARE the armies of the bannerlords. I think there was something about stark having 7000 or 8000 men. The next biggest house had like 8000 men. Then there were like six or seven other houses with a few thousand and a load with some hundreds. Either way 'Stark' stark men wearing white and grey were much less than half the 20,000 or so northmen. I'd assume that lanister men from casterly rock don't make up a large portion of the westermen army. Most of them are probably from lanisport or one of the hundred other vassals. Those guys aren't going to wear nice lions or mass produced ornate armour.
I think they make a big point in the books by identifying soldiers by their colours and symbols rather than the gear they wear. It's supposed to be a mishmash of Rich knights and peasant levies. To an extent the tv show also tries to make the wildlings and crows look uniform... even when they shouldn't (they should all do their best to look warm and the crows should only wear black... but otherwise everyone wears everything).
I think it is done to pander to some common tropes. Most people think that medieval armies had standardized equipment, just like the Romans before them and the armies of the Enlightenment Period (which Americans call "the Revolutionary War period despite that only being a small sliver of it). Part of that comes from the fact that most medieval artwork detailed knights in all their fancy armor, which led to the misconception that all troops dressed like that. The other part of the problem is how popular media portrays it. Even the much sacred "The Lord of the Rings" movies get it wrong, as even the wealth of Gondor couldn't possibly be enough to fully equip an entire army in full plate.
Hell, most medieval troops didn't even always have the right colors to match their lord's. They usually painted their shield for identification, with the right color and maybe even coat of arms. Most people don't even know the difference between Early, High, and Late Medieval armors. Westeros should fit into the high medieval, with mostly gambesons, leather, and padded outfits for infantry with most of the money being spent on helm, shield, and weapon. Lesser lords would wear mail with a surcoat and high lords, in Westeros' vague time frame, could probably find mail with some kind of partial plate (after all, it is clear that steel exist and there are skilled enough smiths to make plate that doesn't break or bend easily, as the Valyrians handed down the tradition).
Westeros should fit into the high medieval
Nope, it's very clearly early Late Medieval. The background for the series, the non-magic bits anyway, is inspired quite heavily by the Wars of the Roses. The lords wear full-plate armour, not quite gothic plate, more akin to the plate of mid-way through the Hundred Years War.

These aren't official canon obviously but it gives a very good fell for the type of armour worn by the ruling class, when they can afford it
Compared to someone much more common

Or a northern lord, and I get the feeling the North is quite behind the times

So, the good LOTR mod is The Last Days right?
So, the good LOTR mod is The Last Days right?
indeed, what's annoying though is that it has to be the only m&b mod you have installed, especially if you do the custom intro thing. also, it's not a warband mod, so there's that as well. but yes if you want a lotr mod play that.

SSAO finally
One little feature that would be awesome would be arrows splintering and shattering when they hit non-wood/non-dirt objects
It's be terrifying in sieges if those showers of arrows/bolts that miss and hit the stone walls would bounce and shatter into your face
I don't know why I'm so excited at the prospect of ladder climbing animations
I do love being able to combine forms of siege equipment, at least that's what I'm gathering from that screenshot
I don't know why I'm so excited at the prospect of ladder climbing animations

Wonder what will happen if you kick somebody in the face during the ladder climbing animation :v:
Or if you kick the ladder....
I hope there are grampling hooks and catapults and stuff like that too. What i realy want is the ability to set buildings on fire. Fuck buildings. Nothing excites people like throwing torches on their thatch roof.

It would be hard to kick over a ladder with 20 210 lb dudes on it.

Drop a big rock down the middle of the latter.
Drop a big rock down the middle of the latter.
That's it. If I were from the 1300s and owned a castle, I would have a rock room to keep rocks in for this purpose.

Thank fuck they've added multiple entry points for sieges
You guys better be up for the next shieldwall event on Vikingr!
I was playing PW with a friend a few minutes ago. We tried to be prostitutes, failed miserably. I made my character as ugly as possible and someone put a bounty on me thinking I was a Cyclops.

Original game was 2 people with some freelance, Warband was 4 I think.
I wish they'll make the AI not attack through eachother and make falling ragdolls stop attacks so that you or the AI can't do instant and unblockable follow up through a just killed teammate while the enemy hasn't yet recovered from their swing.
In Bannerlord, the one fucking thing I hope for (if they are keeping the whole make your own kingdom thing) is training and recruiting soldiers in a city. Nobles might not give a shit if their villages burn down, but not being able to get a good number of your favorite troops because of those lazy shits is annoying.
There is a mod for it for Warband though, which is super useful, though it just gives you random soldiers from the faction you chose.
Or being able to design your own troop tree in game. That'd be fucking amazing.

True Vaegirs do not die, their face merely turns into another swinging axe
So I've gotten back into that Lord of the Rings mod for original Mount&Blade. I'm using Bladnir's submod which makes the evil factions more playable.
I also came across this trailer that was made for the mod about half a year ago. Figured it'd be worth a repost.

Just make a separate install for it. You need to download the enhanced version of Mount&Blade anyway.

You can download the game from Taleworlds as long as you have your CD Registered with them if I remember correctly.
You can download the game from Taleworlds as long as you have your CD Registered with them if I remember correctly.
well then i guess i've got some downloading to do
well then i guess i've got some downloading to do
Don't download M&B from the TaleWorlds website though, you need the Enhanced version to run TLD.
Plus if you want to use Steam Browser with TLD, once you're done installing the mod just add the Iron Launcher to your Games Library as a Non-Steam game.
[editline]27th January 2014[/editline]
You'll still need your CD key to activate the Enhanced version, just right-click your Steam copy of Mount&Blade and click View CD Key. There's no limit to the amount of times you can use it so if you're psychotic about mods like I am and need to have several different installations of Mount&Blade then there's nothing stopping you.
