So what is the best way to get Renown in VC?
I've just been roaming with some dudes I managed to pick up, but I still need lots of Renown so the fucking Lords will let me recruit men and then I can set up my place.
This is why you don't pre-order anything. I like the devs and the game but as I've seen, alot of bugs etc.

I cancelled my preorder as soon as I remembered how silly it is to preorder games in the first place.

10% off. 13.49 is not ok for a mod that isn't crafted very well.
Yeah, despite bugs which are fleeting from my experience it's great.
Fucking up 15 horse dudes with only 7 guys is great.
Horses ain't all good when all your 7 guys are spear men.
L'Aigle has released a new trailer. It looks really good.

That's an awesome Christmas present. 200 more hours in Mount and Blade is always warranted :D
Going to replay Warband again, what's the best mod that doesn't change the core gameplay but adds more depth etc?
I hope they release another Bannerlord blog next month I love seeing the news on development. Posts are often scarce in this thread so when I see a new one is made it gets my hopes up that someone is posting about the next blog being out.

Floris :)
Heh. People viewed the L'Aigle thread so much that the lead of the mod's dropbox is 509ing due to too much traffic.
Also the mod won't release with its multiplayer component just yet. Not really much of a loss though.
L'Aigle alpha has been released: http://www.mediafire.com/download/9eisslwqmub59ey/laigleopenalphav1.rar
This game is just too, too cruel.
I was a brave Nordic woman. Fearless mercenary captain, travelling merchant and benevolent village saviour. My band of 64 lived free and strong, until the politics of the Nords decided I was needed. We helped besiege a Vaegir city and won without losing of my own men. I was given a mission by Jarl Gundar and Jarl Aeric, which both required me in a Vaegir city. I accepted, and under cover of night snuck into the city. The guards spotted me and I was imprisoned, spending days in the dungeon. I was freed when the Nords exchanged me for another prisoner. Undeterred, I tried once more and was captured. This prison sentence lasted much longer, yet as I emerged from the dank celler I was greeted again by my band of merry warriors who had waited all this time. But not half a day's ride out of the city, those Vaegir bastards attacked! That the last time I saw my soldiers. For the longest time I travelled, pulled along by the whim of some noble. I do not know how far I travelled before finding my window to escape. After riding day and night, I found myself in a strange land where everyone had pointy hats, horses, and handlebar moustaches. Small villages and local nobles offered me piss jobs along the way. Although I still had my merchant's riches, my band consisted of just myself. Eventually, after offering my helping hand to many small villages, I had gathered a new force of fresh tribesmen. They were eager for war, and I was going to give it to them. This would become a band of bloodthirsty killers with whom I could exact revenge upon the Vaegir. Alas, this queer country was not as peaceful as the rolling green hills of my Nordic home. I tracked down a fugitive to a small village, yet he managed to knock me off my horse and disappeared. Filled with shame, I commanded my men to march. We set off to find a noble so that I could explain to him my failure. We never arrived. Half way to my destination, FIVE individual clans of mounted raiders converged on me at once. I realised they could all outrun me, so I turned myself towards them. My men had not once seen combat, yet fought like grizzled veterans. We killed the first band, obliterated the second, went even against the third, but were destroyed by the fourth. I ran from the battle like a coward, but was confronted by the fifth and largest group of raiders. With but a tenth of my lifespan remaining, I took a fighting stance. Atop a black horse sat a crazed Nordic woman, clad in armour from every corner of the earth. I drew my light lance and cracked shield and charged. One down, two down, but the other twenty-three horsemen riddled me with arrows. When I woke up, I realised that this world was too cruel. Never again will I be wealthy, or fearless, or powerful, or get my revenge. This world was is cruel that I don't even get to die.
Save + Quit. GG game fuck you too
A huge shame L'Aigle is missing even freelancer option. The recruiter only gives you some money and a shoddy rifle and that's it. You're technically sworn in as a vassal rather than being part of a lord's army.
Some dude on /mbg/ might hopefully integrate Freelancer into the mod though. But yeah other than that it's a wonky alpha so I honestly can't say I was expecting too much even though I was pretty hyped for it
Is Viking Conquest worth picking up yet? I really like the concept but it seems like they haven't fixed it up yet.

Nah. And L'Aigle needs a lot of work.

It's literally the first alpha release, were you expecting Jesus to come down and grace your computer? I'm just glad to see a first playable version, to be able to really see a lot of the hard work that has gone into it.
still questioning why muskets have no melee reach at all though.

L'Aigle Alpha 1.1 was released today.

Animations determine hit boxes. Animations don't exaggerate hits so they don't hit for much damage and don't have much reach.
Also, stating a fact doesn't mean you can assume the intentions behind someones statement. I didn't expect the mod to come down like Jesus.
In-fact, I expected it to be buggy as all hell. It turned out to be the opposite with only 3 major bugs needing fixing (fresnel shader bug, money glitch, brown bess 4 damage).
It just needs polish work.
Tried L'aigle.
By the standards of what I've played before, its quite impressive. All of the models are highly detailed, and there's an air of good quality about it.
There are some nice animations as well, but the melee animations for the muskets are very iffy... they should look awesome, but they feel stiff, disjointed and hard to connect with. Also impossible to use well in first person.
Battles are interesting in that there's a working and robust formation and fire control system. Why you wouldn't just set the latter to fire at will at all times though is beyond me, as there's no morale in M&B, and no shock effect. All you're doing is decreasing how much fire you put out.
Also, the AI has functioning cannon crews, and they're effective, but not overpowered, killing about 4-5 guys per direct hit.
But, and here's the big one, the AI doesn't seem to use formations, and runs at you in a mob just like in vanilla.
There's a lot of potential here, and its certainly playable, which is more than I can say for a lot of mods.

yeah, in the latest patch notes, he said he fixed those major bugs, and tweaked the animations for musket melee.
and sorry about sounding hostile, i wasn't in a good mood when I made that post.
Playing L'aigle is a real mind fuck, at least for me, I thought I'd never see models this high quality in a M&B mod, the whole mod is real high level stuff with a lot of potential.
It's the Fresnel Shader. Makes stuff look good. I mean real good.

(Fresnel is the glow around the edges of the character's clothing in the scene.
Yeah, it looks almost like an entirely different game.
I haven't had the time to test it yet but regarding the AI just "blindly" charging, do they do that all the time? Before in the WW2 mod the Red Wars the AI bandits and maybe even minor lords did this at the start (can't remember exactly) but when the game progressed and I joined a faction, the marshals actually formed their men into a line that held their ground or slowly advanced. At times there were 3 separate lines maneuvering on the map (being my army, the friendly marshal and the enemy marshal. Can't remember if the other lords also formed up or not.)
Have you progressed to a point where two factions face off, or have you only just started out?
I used cheats to make a sizeable infantry party, and then attacked about 5-6 French lords with 80-100 men roaming around to test the battles.
That's a good point about AI vs AI battles you're a part of, generally I've noticed in all mods and iirc even vanilla there's more of a line/formation battle going on if that happens, though in other mods after the lines get close enough generally it becomes a map-wide riot with everything spread out as everyone moves in different directions.

The default AI in warband is usually
1.If it's a faction war and
2.If both sides are evenly matched and
3.Both sides have a lot of troops
then use line battle and encirclement techniques. Otherwise go crazy.
Haaa Richard Sharpe is a recruitable NPC. Incredible.
Also I wish the AI would have more unit variety than spamming cavalry. I don't mind some cav, but every AI army I've fought so far has been like 90% cav 10% infantry.

They all got Khergit syndrome.
For me most enemy armies have been infantry, when im fighting with allies i notice they use mostly horses though, almost 95% of them actually.
Also around 10% of the men in my game are actually ladies, including Napoleon Bonaparte.
