Yeah, I knew him like 2 years ago - back when I was still running Illuminati's Saturday Night Linebattle and Assault
If I remember correctly Sharpe did show up to that a few times.
Neat, some confirmation on the battanians being picts. I mean it was getting pretty obvious but it's interesting to hear a developer say it outright, nice to see them breaking the medieval mold and getting some dark age stuff in there.
Hope we get a vague release date soon. "Summer/Fall 2016" I hope :saddowns:

By the sounds of it they're going to try and release some sort of version before the end of the year, whether it be an early access beta or something who knows...

Higher quality footage from pc gamer weekend thing
Resurrecting the thread before it falls into the abyss.
Just joined a regiment again, after just over a year. 44th line infantry. Lots of fun so far, and everyone's friendly and mature!
Glad to see this game still has a very active community.
More Bannerlord gameplay is going to be shown on the 'PC Gaming Show Today', no idea when though.
New siege gameplay:

Liking the look of things. I only noticed specific parts breaking when being hit by catapult but it would be really cool to leave little holes everywhere you hit. Providing that would be somewhat realistic as I have no idea how realistic it would be to do such a thing. Would also give defending archers more holes to shoot back through for retaliation.
Also looking at how defenseless you are climbing up assault ladders multiplayer will be fun for defending archers without everyone walking up the ladders shields raised.
It is almost uncanny how big the difference between Warband and Bannerlord is, and yet they both feel like a true Mount and Blade.
I wish I had Warband. All I have is the original
How have you not acquired it by now? It's been on sale plenty of times, and for dirt cheap, too.

No money
Bit disappointed the combat AI looks like the same old clusterfuck, meaning fighting outnumbered on higher difficulties is going to be suicide every time
Everything else looks like a huge improvement, can't wait to play it
I'm somewhat disappointed by that siege gameplay, it all seems very similar to Warband. The animations, combat mechanics, AI etc don't seem to have changed much, there were even a surprising number of the same sounds used. I'm not saying it looks bad and i'm still excited for it, but i was hoping there would be a much bigger improvement overall. It feels more like an upgraded version of Warband than a true sequel, but that's still awesome.

Considering the footage was pre-alpha footage it wouldn't surprise me that thats what they're starting from

The game is still in pre-alpha? It's been 4 years, i was hoping it would be close to being finished by now. They really announced it way too early if that's the case.

I believe they do want the game to be playable to some capacity soon though. In a recent article they said
We’re still not too close to release unfortunately. We are considering Early Access, or perhaps an open beta of some sort. We definitely want to involve players at some point so they can dig in and help with final touches and game balance.

so hopefully it will be in some playable form by the end of the year.

why exactly is this a bad thing

Mount and Blade isn't a Musou game.
If you want your "kill everything in this area by yourself" fill, go buy a Warriors game dude.
Or hell, play the Blood and Steel mod.
Or play blood and steel and do what the user below suggested. That's the true musou experience.
Or just play on a lower difficulty. You can pretty much solo entire armies that way.
I just give myself cash to get the best armor and train until i can use it.

Have either of you actually tried it for more than 5 minutes? Because I have, and I've just about conquered half the map currently
"Train peasants" is one of the hardest fights in the game if you have high training and have to go against 2 or 3 peasants, and you have to do that several times
There's a fine line between "kill everything by yourself" and "get mobbed and stunlocked as soon as you get in a skirmish"
On high difficulties even the shittiest of units have inhuman reflexes and the AI completely ignores teammate collisions when it comes to swinging weapons, meaning they can literally hit you through other enemies whereas your swings get blocked by teammates.
Alternatively you can just kite and kill units by the dozens using a bow and they're likely to just ignore you and keep going towards the nearest enemy. So long as you keep moving sideways archers will never hit you.
So no, it's not a matter of being unable to kill everyone single handedly, the melee AI is just shit and not in the slightest fun or fair to fight against
Train peasants with no autoblock is challenging but by no means impossible.
It should be very difficult to fight against more than two enemies (if they're not shit-tier looters vs a greatsword-wielding player). It's more doable in M&B than in real life due to quirks in the game, positioning is really easy and if they have long weapons you can just hug them with a short one and they can't even hit you. Don't get in a fight with a blob, that's just stupid.
That's the point, you can't NOT fight a blob because that's how AI fights end up in most situations
The AI in Bannerlord at least seemed to be a bit more reactive and spread out in sieges so at least you can choose where to engage, but in warband sieges are literally two blobs colliding until one of the two runs out of people. On high difficulties you either stay back doing absolutely nothing or get knocked out in a matter of seconds
Or sometimes you can blindside the blob on your own and stab a bunch of them on the back of the head without them noticing or caring because I guess the AI is just ok I guess
AI blobbing is a huge problem, I definitely agree. I just don't see how one guy getting killed by three or four is. That's just pretty realistic.

I went to check what Blood and Steel was on the talesworld forums, and the first page of the general discussion thread there made avast go batshit with malware notices. Then I got another a few minutes later pointing to some .gif of a stick figure, and then google said it was noticing odd traffic from my computer.
What happen?

I dunno. Maybe someone got compromised?
IF B&S is compromised, well shit I better check if I am too.
It was just on the forum, I didn't download or attempt to download the mod.
Avast reported the infections as html:script-inf and URL:Mal.

Fighting two or more people at once isn't supposed to be easy.

People keep saying things like this and I'm not sure what they mean.
I agree that it looks like an upgraded warband, but not in a way that makes it fall short of being a "true sequel"
What would you expect to see in a sequel?
The animations, combat mechanics, and AI see changed enough for me.
The ragdolling looked better, the siege setup beforehand, the working siege weapons, enemies throwing pots of burning oil down at you, the multiple ways of entry into the castle, the smashable doors, the ai defenders retreating, the animations added to the ai pushing the siege tower and shit ton more (instead of them just standing with shields drawn next to the wheels), the tumbling spears, god damn I feel like I could keep going. It all looks great.
You're definitely right on the sounds though, but that's usually a low priority.
Just watch some of this video (especially 5:30 onward) and tell me Bannerlord doesn't look like a true sequel.
