The entire series is now 75% off on Steam so if for some reason you don't have every single game in the series then now would be a good time to pick them up.
In the off-chance that someone new comes to this thread, Warband's a good game. It has a demo. Go try it and get the full game if you like. It has a shitload of mods too. From tweaks and additions to the base game to total conversions like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, feudal Japan, Europe, Warhammer fantasy, Game of Thrones, the list goes on.
Saw this in /mbg/, had a good laugh

mods also work with the demo
I remember playing Eagle and the Radiant Cross on the original M&B demo when I was younger and I had such a bad understanding of history I thought it was fantasy
Not going to lie, I'll be very, very upset if Bannerlord isn't released before the end of this year. That'd be a massive disappointment

I really want it too but i'm not holding out any hope out of fear of disappointment. The game might be playable in some way at the end of the year but i'm not sure if it will be perfectly finished.
[editline]24th August 2016[/editline]
Too many times have I been eager for a game to then come out 6 months to a year after the original expected date or community hoped date.
I just love the fact that when the attackers are preparing their assault equipment you now have the option as a defender to ride out and burn some of it to the ground whilst killing those standing around and then run back into your castle again. I know right! You could bring down a giant siege with just Twenty good men

The lack of of communication and announcing the game 4 years too early is already bad enough, really. If it isn't released this year that would make it even worse.
I know right! You could bring down a giant siege with just Twenty good men
Or a few good archers.
Siege bows will be fantastic
I remember playing a game of warband (dawn of war mod I think) where I and a few elite men had xboxhuge bows and fire arrows, we where picking people off from the other side of the map.
This going to be soo good
Man, prophecy of pendors voice acting is garbage

I'd rather they not release it this year, and polish it up and get it working real good before release, than have a buggy mess at launch.
yes, warband had its share of hilarious bugs.

Why do people think this? I'm not being smart. PoP is one of the only big mods I've tried and I always thought it was great. I've heard from lots of people that it's bad and I just don't know why. It has some amazing features, cool factions, and a ton of extra content. Are there other total conversions that do this better? Anything else that adds PoP features such as creating your own Knighthood orders?
I'm not being a smartass. If there's a better mod I should be playing, I want to know what it is.

I haven't fully played it because every time I start it the garbage voice acting and shitty textures put me off it
[editline]25th August 2016[/editline]
Apart from that, I don't know.
People that say pop is garbage are usually the ones that think they can take on the red brotherhood parties at the start but then they get wrecked and after that they believe pop is shit simply because they suck.
Hi guys
So, I'm thinking about taking advantage of the current sales on all the M&B titles on Steam because, honestly, I kinda like the premise of the games, the price is incredibly fair and I need new games
Only, I'm wondering if I should buy them all or only some of them, especially because it looks like some are just expansions or that Warband is actually an updated release of the first game
Can anyone help me with my shopping list here?
Also, the Napoleonic expansion or something seems to be multiplayer online, and since I'd play only the single player side of these games, I wonder if I may askip it
It's not particularly bad by mount and blade mod standards, in fact it's pretty excellent for a mod - however it has too many little flaws, and the creator is kind of a dick.
I get that it is for the best of the best players, but jesus christ I don't want 800 elite barbarians led by wolfbode to spawn out of thin fuckin air and destroy my whole 200 man elite army by bum rushing because their ironflesh is over a billion. If their attacks were maybe a little more predictable rather than having 1000 man strong armies appear 5 metres away from your main town, PoP would be a little better.
What's even worse is that when you even suggest maybe toning it down a little, tiny bit, he will call you a noob and say you aren't good enough to play his mod.

Get warband with Napoleonic wars. You might not think you are interested in multiplayer, but you will almost certainly change your mind. With Fire and Sword is seriously lacking in content, although I quite like it, and the original M&B is a decent purchase too, for the mods. Viking conquest is the Brytenwalda mod but slightly better (it is made by the Brytenwalda team), I wouldn't get it.
I love PoP, had a lot of fun playing it
So what's everyone's favorite mod overall?
I'm debating between Perisno and Silverstag, both for different reasons. Though I dislike Perisno's too easy start.
AD 1257 or Floris
ACOK is pretty good
Not going to lie, I'll be very, very upset if Bannerlord isn't released before the end of this year. That'd be a massive disappointment
It looks pretty complete so far, but then again (hopefully without derailing the thread by saying this) look at No Man's Sky. I trust Taleworlds completely and they state they don't want to release the game until its ready, and for that I say good on them.

I like Floris, ACOK, and AD 1257.
Recently with 1257 AD I started playing as a lord for the HRE and we have begun taking Italy and defending against a massive invasion from the Kingdom of Sweden.
1257 is probably my favorite because I feel like I can roleplay as a lord.

I would skip out on Mount and Blade, and just get Warband. If you enjoy a (now) solid single player experience Viking Conquest is pretty fun, it also has a decent storyline. Warband by itself has enough mods and content to keep you satisfied for a while though, some mods have more content than Viking Conquest.
Of Kings and Men is on Steam early access now and some of the devs that did the cRPG M&B mod are also working on that game. Does anyone know the game is like? It looks a bit similar to M&B gameplay from what i've seen.
Alright, I got Warband, Napoleonic Wars and the Fire and Something expansion
Are there totally necessary mods out there? I just want/need enhancements, not custom scenarios or anything of the sort ... for now
