Shameful advertisement, but a group of friends and I have gotten our server activish (48 players last night) again on Napoleonic Wars. Servers name is APPLE Zombies and is probably the most jankiest thing you can pull off but its good fun and we have a pretty dedicated player base that is happy we are back. So come on in for some fun, witty banter, and very good maps made by a personal friend of mine.
Btw I am Gentleman_Jim_Cowardly formally of FH on the server.
Server usually peaks 8-12pm Eastern time although we used to score 100+ throughout the day in our heyday.
I wouldn't call it advertising, especially if it's an active server that actually does shit

I'll let my regiment know, you might get a few Nr12 on there :P

PS4 controls
I know you've been able to use a controler on the PC version for ages now.
I once did a linebattle with it, did about as bad as I expected lmao.
Its kind of charming in an incredibly wonky, drunken way
I really love M&B and Warband, I liked how the models were basic but more detailed in the right ways sometimes like in the weapons and armour, the ragdolls could be hilarious, and the game took up so little hard drive space but was so big in scope, and so open ended. So much is possible with it, and then there are the mods, for me Bannerlord has a lot to live up to.
Fortunately though it seems to be more than capable of doing that from what I've seen, I'm very excited for it.
I hope it doesn't end up as a more-is-less kind of thing... Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Like the difference between counter strike 1.6 and cs:go, or unreal tournament GOTY and the newer ones, like I can't put my finger on it but the older ones have a certain charm that the newer polish and sheen gets rid of. Like I still like the newer iterations but I don't know.

Might be a bit of nostalgia. If I compare myself to my younger steph brother, he seems to be unable to appreciate dated graphics just because the newer ones are 'better'. For us who actually thought it was impressive at that time, it brings a certain charm.
And to be honest, older games seem to be able to hit the nail on it's head aesthetic wise because graphics were limited. It was more about what the game represented and felt like, rather than what it actually looked like. Currently, studio's are spending a lot of time getting new technologies to work (like no mans' sky with it's procedural generation) instead of getting fun gameplay. Experimentation is good, but gameplay is the main essence of a game.
I'm for instance glad that with fire and sword was made, even though it wasn't a great game. It really shows what the mount and blade fans are after, which will hopefully lead to bannerlord being a true successor of warband.
Update on the server, we've exploded in popularity again! We got 80+ weekdays and maxed on weekends. Here is a few shots from the madness.

There's just something charming about facing a horde of undying Russian peasants armed with farming implements while classical music plays in the background.
I can somewhat understand it not being ready for full release (although, even that is a bit worrying) but not being ready for early access/beta after 4 years doesn't look good at all.
They teased us really hard this year with a lot of really high-quality looking gameplay videos, but to not get anything out of it and complete silence on even a supposed release date is really concerning

:frown:
I tried to prepare myself for this but I didn't do a good enough job. I want my Bannerlords
I'd rather wait for the game if that will make it good, instead of having a buggy, half finished product.

It's been 4 years since it was announced. If it's still a buggy, half finished product to the point where it's not even suitable for beta/early access (both things where the games are supposed to be unfinished) than That isn't a good sign at all.
We don't even have a release date yet. If this needed a last minute delay before release that wouldn't have been so bad, but they've basically delayed it when there was no date beyond "beta 2016" according to that twitter message.

Someone correct me but don't they have a real low amount of people working on this? The only reason warband and wfas got pumped out so fast was because they hardly added much, from what I can tell bannerlord has more added in it, on top of the graphical updates.
If I remember correctly they only announced Bannerlord because of peoples doubts that it was being made or something along those lines I don't quite remember.

their current team is fucking massive compared to what the original mount & blade had. the game is progressing, it just got announced very early in development.
if they double theirs team that's nice
yet the amount of work needed for next-generation of games in meantime quadrupled ...
so let them work ...

Announcing 4 years too early is absurd regardless but if they had been more open with development it wouldn't have been so bad. Instead we got a quite short blog post with 1-2 new pictures every few months and then 3 years later finally got a bit of gameplay footage. I don't think they've done a good job of keeping players informed, we still don't even have a release year for it let alone anything resembling an actual date.
Judging by the gameplay videos, I'd say we have a good chance of early access release some time before next summer or full release by next christmas.

Why should they keep future players informed? I understand you want to play the game, because I want it too. But it's not like they charged you for an early access key or something. And I don't understand why it would be a bad sign. If this had happened 15 years ago no one would be saying anything. We've been wrongly accustomed to expect a game's development take 2-3 years.

What I mean is, let the development take what it must take. It will be for the better. And if it ain't, remember bad development can happen with a long or a short span of time

For god's sake i hope they don't release it in Early access

Because you don't make a big announcement for a game and release a dev diary and then go silent for six months. That's not gamers being spoiled by short dev times, that's basic common sense. Dev diaries for most companies are done once a month or every other month and normally implies the game is in a showable point.
The 4 years announcement thing is their own problem, the game basically was in the middle of pre-production. Its a fuckup but its not saying that the game is about to turn vaporware or some shit. Theyre just bad at marketing.
Regarding team size: original m&b was started by two people, by now I think the studio has around 20-30 employees.
i dld floris for m&b warband and took over uxkhal roughly 35 days into my campaign after the rhodoks took it over
with 34 men vs. 75
am i cool yet

That's only a 2v1 battle
Try 3v1.

Did you have 100% damage option to yourself and your allies? If yes you are cool, if no then you aren't cool.
