Mount & Blade was one of those who actually pioneered crowdfund before any 'early access' existed ;) i would be perfectly fine if theirs upcoming games have same system ... developing next-gen games needs more resources (time, manpower, money) ... many from-scratch high quality games take longer than 4 years ... often when you know about game, it's in development for quite some time yes, sure there are exceptions but those are rare ... exclude certain 'yearly' released series
The original Mount and Blade was early access and it was because it was being developed by 2 people by themselves and they needed whatever income they could get. Buying the game was literally paying the devs to keep working on it. It was one of the only good examples of early access I can think of. For Bannerlord though, they have a full team with the resources of the publisher behind them, there's no reason to do early access and the only reason people want it is because they're desperate to play the game.
They are their own publisher arent they? Paradox got dropped.
they are their own publisher yes.
For me it's less about just wanting the game and more they've mishandled keeping players up to date on progress and haven't really told us much at all, we haven't even have a release year for the game mentioned yet. I know games development takes a long time but it's been 4 years now and after telling us basically nothing for the first few years, they implied it wouldn't be too long until release and then suddenly said months later it's nowhere near ready at all, and some things haven't even been started. I just wish we had something and they'd keep us informed properly.
i think the most die hard fans who are desperate for any information they can get up until release date will just buy the game anyways. the game has already got some visibility with the trailers, expos, articles and devlogs and they will probably release more when they're gearing up for release, it's just that they have little to gain from constantly feeding us information which is a job in it's own.

If they were already asking for money it would be a different story, but they aren't. I think the only mistake they made was announcing it as early as they did, as it seems they announced it very, very shortly after they started developing it.

Holy shit this looks so fucking good. Can't wait to dump hours into this bad boy
god i cant wait to drop out of college to only play bannerlord
It would be socially responsible for them to never release this because 3 days after they do I'll be found dead in my chair.
looking at such lovely images, i want to point out how expensive it is to put torches up all the time, and how pointless it is to do such a thing during the day. also, you're going to want better cover for your defenders on a fortification. Castles aren't meant to be balanced, and you can fix it if it's an ai thing

I very, very recently got into Mount and Blade, as recommended by HQRSE. Anyway, it's been a bit of a struggle, although I do enjoy the difficulty of it. I've also gotten into the A Clash of Kings mod and I've bumped into an issue. I managed to successfully escort a small caravan from the Weeping Town to Planky Town without getting stomped into the ground by looters/bandits/etc. Now, I'm at Planky Town, but I just don't know how to tell the caravan they can go, so I can finish the quest. What do I do?
in native and other mods i've played you bring them next to the town then talk to the caravan itself.
in native and other mods i've played you bring them next to the town then talk to the caravan itself.
That worked. Thanks! A Clash of Kings, best mod 2017
That worked. Thanks! A Clash of Kings, best mod 2017
I like gekokujou. Because its the only game I've played that accurately simulates the disorganized clusterfuck that was sengoku japan's battles.
I disliked gekokujou because everyone was the same in such a large map
The wait for this game has been fucking frustrating, what the fuck were they thinking announcing it all the way back in 2012?
They might as well do early access to satisfy us after that mistake. I trust Taleworlds enough to know they won't fuck us over.
The wait for this game has been fucking frustrating, what the fuck were they thinking announcing it all the way back in 2012?
I'm shocked that they dodge release date questions and the like whenever possible. Like I said, it's getting a little concerning that we've had nothing concrete. IIRC they talked about "wanting to do a beta later on" in like, 2014
At least from what we've seen there have been huge, game changing improvements made to the game. I trust that when it does come out it's going to be very, very well polished, and for now I just try to force my brain to forget it exists so the release date will sneak up on me.
I still haven't got warband to work since I upgraded to windows 10 (I only consider it an upgrade because I had windows 8. It's surely worse than 7) I've tried compatibility modes and installation. Any Ideas?
Pretty sure Yavuz is a perfectionist. M&B had shortfalls because he was personally incapable of making better graphics and implementing more indepth systems. Now he has both time and resource, he's making his magnum opus. As much as I hate to wait, the screenshots and the tiny bits of gameplay is shaping up to be a great game. I've played nearly 14 hours of MnB today (ACOK, mostly). I'm okay.

Just need that polish :]
Bannerlord will be good but whoever decided to announce it after the concept artist finished his first drawing should be taken out back and have his skull drunken from.
