Sometimes I wish turn based combat wasn't a total turn-off for me
The animations are smooth and quick, so it doesn't feel too painfully turn based most of the time. You end up needing the time to plan anyway; I can't imagine playing that game realtime with how high damage is.
I still wish for a game where you give general orders, like you would have back then and see your soldiers take to it. Micro is the death of games to me.

You mean you want decent AI? I doubt that's gonna happen :v:

There was a game like that that the History channel launched, I had it, got no idea where it went though, can't remember otherwise, I've seen a few others of that vein though, Sci-fi space game Gratuitous Space Battles comes to mind. Can't remember any other names though.

Dwarf Fortress
I actually used to play the crap out of DF, good times.
So I've been without a PC for a year and I've had to make do with PS4 M&B. Any mods that I should play when I build my PC later in the year?

Full Invasion 2 is great if you like multiplayer wave defense co-op.
Anno Domini 1257 is a great singleplayer experience set in medieval Europe. I definitely recommend it.
Clash of Kings is a good single player mod if you like the Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire Books
The Red Wars, Calradia 1923 is a weird but fun single player mod. Haven't played it in a while but I recommend it. I remember racking up a lot of hours in that.
Last one that comes to mind is L'Aigle, which is essentially singleplayer napoleonic wars. Great visuals and attention to detail though the last time I played it (two years ago?), it felt a little empty. Might be different by now, so if it interests you, give it a shot.
Damn thinking of all these cool mods makes me eager for Bannerlord. Modders will have a lot of fun with the tools they're working on.

Since I couldn't get warband to work, I downloaded the original mount and blade. It works.
Now, I haven't played warband in a while (the game's been broke a while, and I wasn't playing native late). I recall it being primitive even though it improved a few things over the original game (though I like the old map better)
But this original game, while fun, just feels like an alpha. It's just so dumb at times.
I get that they needed money at the time, but I feel that were it released today, with all that early access stuff, warband would've been a series of updates rather than it's own game, and then someone should've put a clause into the EULA to let them [del]steal[/del] add everything added in mods like diplomacy into the base game.
I have this strategy for taking castles where I get as many Rhodok crossbowmen/ sharp shooters as I can reasonably fit in my party, line them up outside the castle walls and let them shoot in until they're out of bolts. Then I retreat and try again a few times until its safe to go up with walls with the 10 or so heavy infantry I have with me. Guarantees you a castle with minimal losses as long as an enemy army doesnt catch you. Anybody got any similar strategies?

High level Nord infantry are borderline broken when used in sieges.

Yeah, I always sweep the walls with ranged units before sending in my infantry. Otherwise you just lose half of them on the ladder anyway.
Swadian knights are fucking incredible at seiges. I wonder why anyone'd ever bother with the infantry line.
That reminds me.
So I, Swadian, notice Yalen, (rhodoks) who we're at war with, has only 200 folk, and My party of 60 something has a lot of elite units (mostly man at arms and knights)
So. I seige the city. After a tough two battles, I win. I foolishly ask that the king gives me the city, and more foolishly save my game
Issue is, I've sacked the surrounding villages so often that they all hate me.
After a single day of owning the city, 600 khergits appear to take yalen off my hands.
This game's bullshit really upsets me. Like, my only real loss was about 30 knights, and I can get that number back up within a week or so ingame, but I just feel so cheated out of my first city. I'm guessing I should probably have given the city to swadia and some more capable lord would've taken it (who didn't have issues with the surrounding populace) but 600 khergits appearing out of the woodworks, and I can't have moved all the prisoners from the city immediately into the garrison, or hired from the city? bullshit.
City is currently held by 200 men, but they've got a lord, and I no longer have crack troops, so my retake attempts have failed thus far.

what if youre fighting the nords tho?
what if youre fighting the nords tho?
Simple, use more Nords than them.
what if youre fighting the nords tho?
If I absolutely can't get any nords then as other people have said, use swadian knights.

For some reason i once had the AI be completely unable to hit the 1 guy that was in range of them no matter how much they tried. Not sure if it was just luck or if it's a viable tactic.

he's the main character
I usually mix my armies with Rhodok Sharpshooters, Rhodok Sergeants, Swadian Knights and Nord Huscarls when besieging castles/cities.
Pikes 4 lyfe
I usually get my cav from swadia, infantry from the nords and archers from the Rhodoks. Kherjit and sarranids need not apply.
Imagine getting heavy cavalry from the Kherjits, crossbows from swadia, and... I'm not sure who does the most shit infantry. Vaegirs?
What's the worst (fully upgraded) army you can field?
Also. Took a rhodok castle
800 rhodoks showed up.
God damn this psychic enemy.
Also none of the lords want to do shit with me even though it's obvious I get shit done.
My best friend was made by thrashing his army several times.
This game is insane.
I feel like the more I play Prophesy of Pendor, the more I notice it's missing a lot of little things other mods have. It's starting to feel more and more like Vanilla + Fantasy than something like, say, Perisno which seems to have more features in some ways.

The rhodok sharpshooters double nicely as infantry when they need to, which is a big bonus. Those bastards are almost as hard to fight in melee as nord huscarls, that sounds hyperbolic but those armor piercing pickaxes and huge pavises make them very formidable.
Garrison about 50-100 of them in a castle or town and aint nobody getting in.

I'm really hoping that they'd implement physics for those cloaks and scarves. Having them fly in the wind as you charge with your army would definitely amplify the feeling c:

It could be done more cheaply than with physics though
Not a huge revelation, but on re-watching the gameplay footage it seems like you get a town set and battle set of armour and weapons.
So you can equip clothing and a sword for walking around town, and have armor and all weapon slots for battle. Kind of a neat feature, always felt strange showing up to a feast wearing plate armour where everyone else is clothed-out.
It's also meant for if you get ambushed in alleys by thugs, or are challenged to duels, you aren't just "meatfucker 9000". Instead of being in full plate with a war axe, you could be stuck with your robes and a rapier
