It's also meant for if you get ambushed in alleys by thugs, or are challenged to duels, you aren't just "meatfucker 9000". Instead of being in full plate with a war axe, you could be stuck with your robes and a rapier
I always liked how a botched rescue mission presents a unique challenge where you're wearing a dress and armed with bread knives
Not a huge revelation, but on re-watching the gameplay footage it seems like you get a town set and battle set of armour and weapons. So you can equip clothing and a sword for walking around town, and have armor and all weapon slots for battle. Kind of a neat feature, always felt strange showing up to a feast wearing plate armour where everyone else is clothed-out.
But what about if thieves ambush you on your way to the feast?? I wear my plate mail during coitus with the damsels, let alone feasts.
Small handful on new screenshots, one showing the season system. [t]https://i.imgur.com/MQ3WreB.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/HOVzeZA.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/Oh3fqWm.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/SVGixkP.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/3NgtoUl.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/uVc6PL9.jpg[/t]

Hey, new devblog and another 4k image. https://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/News/169 [t]https://www.taleworlds.com/Images/News/e317_bl_announcement_screenshot.jpg[/t] Only big (expected) news is that they are going to have more gameplay videos released at E3 (June 13th to 15th)
I hope so, the 30 sec 20 fps ps2 graphics trailer at pc gaming show was so sad I almost cringed.

Directional shield blocking sounds fun. Previously shields felt mandatory, because when outnumbered you'd need to block multiple directions at the same time and only a shield could do that.
Still no release date :frown:
Pretty cool that you can combine attacks into one fluid movement now, hopefully should make combat a lot less janky compared to warband.
Not gonna lie, a total let down. Yeah it looks cool but once again they've decided to hop around and not even fucking hint at a release date. This game will never be released, it's the medieval version of Star Citizen.
they didn't take your money so what's your problem ... game development takes lot of time, contrary to yearly recycle spam in meantime you can still play Warband with mods
they didn't take your money so what's your problem ... game development takes lot of time, contrary to yearly recycle spam in meantime you can still play Warband with mods
I dunno, the fact that they hyped it up and tried to drum out some excitement only to have some meh gameplay and no other information is kinda disappointing! They won't even give an estimate. Which is a bit weird considering it's been years since the game was announced.
So fucking what? They don't owe us anything. They could even not release it at all, and ut'd ve alright. They'll release it when it's ready. Learn to hace some patience, for god's sake.
One thing i've read that makes a lot of sense, by announcing it so early the warband mod community and playerbase has really taken a dive. People dislike playing/developing for the old thing when they think the new thing is on the horizon. But it was a false horizon.
The animations are looking pretty fantastic, the horses are almost RDR tier, with those fluid motions and hair physics. Getting/giving cavalry charges will be pretty exhilarating. Hopefully they don't push the "2017" estimate to the very limit. I've seen AAA titles that have jankier gameplay than that; hopefully they aren't trying to polish a mirror here. I'm so pumped, it's definitely going to be soon(tm).

And to be frank the PR department and developer blog isn't doing us many favors.

Learn to hace some patience, for god's sake.
We have been patient. We've waited 5 fucking years and get fed jack for months on end only to be met with battle videos and pockets of info. We all know they are small and don't have the biggest budget but the communication throughout this development has been nothing but ABYSMAL. We still don't know fuck all about large parts of the game and we know 100% nothing about multiplayer. We simply have no idea how far along they are with this game, it could be done weeks from now or a year or two. We just get field battles over and over and the tiniest glimpses of the grand map. Just because we aren't owed the game doesn't mean we can't find this entire development a overly long, drawn out, poorly communicated shit show. Warband is one of my favorite games of all time and I love TW and I know they'll give us this game and it'll be awesome, but man, this is pitiful at this point. All we want is better communication.

I agree completely with you on everything, but it still doesn't entitle you (or anyone) to demand the game to be finished. I may just be tired of everyone being so overly impatient over any game that's published.
Software development is notoriously impossible to predict. They may have intended to release it sooner than now originally but the project could have expanded, geopolitical issues their area could have caused additional problems and features they thought would be easy could have ended up taking 10 times longer than expected. This is a chart of what an average software development project's estimate accuracy looks like, very few tasks come in under estimate, most things take between longer and a few times longer. Some things can take 10 times longer.
I'm sad about how there's silverstag, floris, native enhanced, and all of those have their respective nice features exclusive to them i wish there was just one, properly good native+ mod
The dev cycle has been about 7+ years in total, that's not unreasonable for a huge project, but if they miss the 2017 window that will be pretty ridiculous. I'm all for the old "its done when its done" but if you need over 8 years to make a medieval sandbox/simulation with a team of 20+ people, then you've probably gotta optimize your pipeline a bit and create realistic development goals/timeframes. The perfect doesn't need to be the enemy of the good. At the very least some more in depth information about the progress of development would be nice at regular intervals, not just a handful of media releases a year.
7+ years is pretty insane for basically what amounts to warband++. sure there's great improvements but its almost like this is how warband would have been originally if it was made by a normal developer? I mean it's hard to believe warband came out in 2010, it feels like an early 2000's game like deus ex with that sort of 'janky as fuck but still fun' vibe don't get me wrong if bannerlord is just 'warband but better' it should be great fun but taleworlds is so haphazard with their stuff

Go check that out instead. You don't know how the devs' lives are being impacted by what is going on.

So according to this interview the lead dev stated that they don't have a release date, but are "putting the finishing touches" on.
5:10-5:22 - When it's done, when we're happy with it, we're going to release it. As for how much it is finished, most of it is currently done. 5:21-5:22 - MK: Can we say that you're doing the last touches? 5:22-5:34 - AY: Yeah, we're doing the last touches. When we're sure of it, when we're sure that the product won't result in bad feedback from the players, we'll release it.
I hope they don't even announce a release date and just drop it out of nowhere
