It's like an Early Access game.
no voice chat or join-friend options either. lol. but at this point anyone upset about it only has theirself to blame for expecting nintendo to actually show competence with online features in the first place
While I love the aesthetic, reading into things I think people who bought Splatoon were shorted. Game cost $60, had $40 of Day 1 DLC (yes, the Amiibos count as DLC due to the content involved), and from what I'm hearing only has 4 maps, of which you can only play 2 which Nintendo pre-selects for players to be able to play at any one time in only three minute turf war matches. Even if it has content coming down the pipe, it's an offering based on promises. It's like an Early Access game. Great soundtrack, great aesthetic, but I wish people buying it were getting more for their dollar in the way of meat and potatoes.
Don't tell me what my own money is worth, I'm having a great time with Splatoon and I feel it was well worth the price of admission. In my opinion, the gaming community seems to grossly undervalue multiplayer games. Games like Titanfall failed because people seem to think multiplayer games are inherently worth less than a singleplayer game, which I fail to see any logical reason behind. Even using the common mentality of using the hours spent playing as a measurement of value (which is a mentality I disagree with), you're going to get much more value out of a multiplayer game than you are singleplayer one, cause the game doesn't really have a limited amount of content. As long as there is people playing, you can keep playing a multiplayer game, can't say the same of a singleplayer game.
Thinking amiibos as DLC is really sad. Shit's entirely cosmetic because there's armors that work the same as them in-game not to mention they're reskinned single player levels for the challenges. It's not like you're losing out on anything.
Don't tell me what my own money is worth
Nowhere in my post did I attempt to do that. I was just stating an issue I personally saw in it. Don't try to tell me I'm not allowed to speak my mind just because it upsets you. Also, games like Titanfall and Evolve didn't fail because people think multiplayer games are inherently worth less. They failed because they were poorly put together, had limited content, and so the player bases rapidly dissolved. Save for games like Battlefield and Call Of Duty that seem to survive because they dominate a niche that is massively popular to the generic public, most multiplayer games would be better off trying to encourage the establishment of a modding and mapping community.
You're projecting your own opinion of what the game is onto people who have already bought it, I'd say that's telling me what my own money is worth.
No. I am saying that I think people who bought the game deserved more. I'm not saying that people who bought the game are discontent. I'm not saying people who bought the game are regretting their purchases. Get over yourself or I'll just throw this to the mods and move on. Not getting banned again because people on this board feel the right to be personally offended by everything I say.
You're projecting your own opinion of what the game is onto people who have already bought it, I'd say that's telling me what my own money is worth.
Don't worry his opinions suck He got permabanned for it in the Payday 2 thread ranting about how certain weapons are bad only because he never used them and he's back from Garry's birthday. Besides that Grimhound you should really not force your opinion down people's throats, I mean it's fine to state your opinion but not as brash as you did.

As long as there is people playing, you can keep playing a multiplayer game, can't say the same of a singleplayer game.
One of the issues with solely multiplayer games is that unless you have bots/co-op, if the multiplayer community is dead you have a worthless game. Look at Lead & Gold for instance. Neat Wild West third person shooter, good gameplay. Died a few months after launch because no one played it. Even after sales no servers were up and populated and a lot of people who bought it felt ripped off. There's no bots to play with, no singleplayer past a tutorial. If you're like me and only got to play like one or two matches online before the game died then you'll feel like it was a waste of money. At least Splatoon has the single player stuff and a couch versus mode, albeit the singleplayer is short and the versus game not too interesting and locked to 2 players. Also, people like to judge hours of game to worth because people have to make decisions on which games they can buy. A lot of people, including myself, live day to day and buying games isn't something they do often. Time is a valuable resource, so if you want to make the most of your purchase then you want something that will entertain you the most for the longest amount of time you have. It's just simple budgeting. Splatoon seems like its somewhat short on content from what I played. Singleplayer is short but fun, multiplayer is excellent but kinda basic now, hopefully it will have good updates like Mario Kart 8 had. I definitely don't think it was worth the $60 I paid for it in the states, $30 like other places is a lot more reasonable. If I spend $60 I expect it to be worth that money. For instance, I'm not going to pay $60 for The Showdown Effect because even though it's a fantastic game because it's kinda basic and the online is basically dead now, but at least it has bots. Splatoon is definitely fun and interesting but unless Nintendo keeps pumping out content I fear the community will die off like so many other multiplayer games. Then again, Mario Kart 8 is still running strong so maybe it'll last a while.

Playing against people with the basic weapon online is not fun at all. Edit: 6 matches down and only won 1 match. I wish it lobbied you up with people that were your same skill level so it would be far more balanced.

It's not like you're losing out on anything.
It's not DLC but it's locked content behind a purchase. It's content you have to pay to get. In practice it's DLC you get by buying a physical product. I mean yeah it's cosmetic and you're not missing much but it's still locked content. It's not quite TF2 level microtransaction hats but it's more like pre-order and get this cool outfit + challenge level you see with games like Batman Arkham City. Some people hate that stuff because it's content that was deliberately made pre launch to be separate from the full game, and people feel that anything made before launch should come with the game. Not that I agree with that, mind you.
I just find it as "Buy this cool ass figure to get free things in this game" kind of thing. I buy them for the figures and I couldn't give two shits about the content it gives. Half my amiibo I didn't even use in MK8 or Smash 4 yet cuz I'm lazy.

Exclusive cosmetics are one thing (though I'm not sure why people act as though that isn't prevelant in DLC as well), but exclusive missions are another. I mean DLC literally means downloadable content, so unless you're arguing the semantics of the stuff already being on disc - then yes the amiibo stuff is content exclusive to those who spend extra money on the game; it's DLC.
I cant wait to get this game on Black Friday. All the stuff will be released and patched by then!
I'd feel more comfortable getting Splatoon if it was like $40. The game does look like I'd have quite a bit of fun in it, but the price tag feels kinda steep for me. Knowing me though, I'll probably cave and get it sometime soon anyway.

Is anyone else finding themselves sticking to the Splattershot Jr.? I didn't think I would find the starter weapon to be so much fun; I'm still using it at level 12.

Wait what the fuck the pro controller + wiimote actually works [sp]didn't mean to get pageking whoops[/sp]
I was expecting there to be some way to reroll the perks, I'm surprised there isn't.

people theorized it was going to be some sort of rumble hole, you hold the button to slide down the slats then stick the pack onto it. but it was never used....yet the holes were still produced. much more elegant than the control strap. Either that or try to lazily wrap the controller strap around the control pad?..the wiimote itself would be chunky even with a protective cover yet the rubber would give it nice grip to the controller itself. -,-
I was expecting there to be some way to reroll the perks, I'm surprised there isn't.
Pretty sure you can do it with the Super Sea Snails they give out at Splatfests. [editline]30th May 2015[/editline] God, I hope when they start doing those, they do them often.
Just had 10 splats 1 death. Charge shooter too good
Should try splattershot type weapons out. Every other match I get 11-0 with them and about 1100 points :v: [editline]30th May 2015[/editline] Just had a match that was 84% with 13 kills 1 death and 1600 points If it wasn't like 5-6am I would of screamed I think
