Jeez, the Dynamo Roller really sucks.
It's heavy, slow, the ranged attack takes up 1/4th of your ink, and it's just way worse than the regular Roller in every way.

Not gonna lie, I think all those character deigns look like total ass :v:
I think its from the new Mad Max movie.
I actually just asked her about that, apparently she was saying 'Valhalla,' which is some kind of mythical heaven Vikings would go to when they die.
Also, playing this game reminds me of why I think Donkey Kong is giving Mario games a strong beating in terms of overall quality. Recent Mario games are a bit stale in my opinion; they're beginning to feel way too by the books and basic. The level designs, while solid, are very infrequently mindblowing. Same enemies, same worlds, forest, snow, etc.
Whereas the Donkey Kong Returns series always has these crazy levels with big challenges, new enemy types, actually fun bosses that you don't just jump on three times to kill, an art style that dramatically changes depending on the world you're in, etc.
I recently finished world two, many of the levels from it had me grinning and giggling like a moron. The wood factory mine cart level was awesome, and the musically themed level before it was the best.
Are you talking about New Super Mario Bros. or the series overall? Because the Galaxy games were excellent, 3D Land was excellent, and 3D World was excellent (if not a bit too easy).
It's really sad that NSMB is the only series people look at and then immediately judge the entire Mario lineup as 'stale'.
But anyway, Tropical Freeze is great I agree :v:

I meant all the recent Mario games. The Galaxy games were amazing, but since the creator said that Mario games shouldn't have any kind of plot or themes is went things went a bit south imo.
Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Bros., 3D World, they all feel like more the the same to me. Donkey Kong fucks your shit up repeatedly, that's one of the reason I enjoy it so much. I know 100% what I'm getting when playing with a cut and dried Mario game.
I hope the series goes back to themed fresh titles like Sunshine and Galaxy, but I think I'm in the minority here.

absolutely not I really want a galaxy 3 more then anything at the moment hell a sunshine 2 would be pretty rad
hotel mario 2
Meh, personally in my opinion DKC:R had too much emphasis on blowing dandelions and fidgeting instead of exploration and platforming, Tropical Freeze did away with blowing being vital and jived it up with switchable kongs, even if it does boil down to either Dixie, Cranky and Diddy (in that order), the gameplay just feels much more fresh and lovingly returns to an actual Donkey Kong Country-style, it even has water stages! my only regret for the 1st DKC:R game is that it was too heavily promoted by Nintendo Freebies here in Europe/UK; it was one of the few games that people probably wouldn't have bought physically if not for the other games being the Castlevania reboot or Lego, the loadtimes is atrocious on 3DS think i saw it being offered like 3/4 times.
Super Mario 3D Land was essentially a 3D Mario 64+NSMB mismash, but they souped it up in its own direction with little secrets, slightly more original enemies (like those rainbow bugs) so it felt more ascessible and tight as a 3DS game compared to NSMB 2 which for intents and purposes really struck that retaux style on the head, seriously, i could only stomach 2 worlds before i put it down because of how bland it felt. New Super Mario Bros U felt arguably much better, it felt much more like Super Mario World and felt a large of an upgrade to justify playing it. (in comparison to NSMBWii...and Animal Crossing City Folk).
Super Mario 3D World had much more personality, i don't mind the little references here and there like the Mario Kart stage, even the minigame stage medleys were awesome to do. Rosalina's sudden introduction into the main series as playable might have been slightly forced but i can't see how the 3D X series can go any further, unless they doubledip into the Gameboy game's locations like Sarasaland or Kitchen Island/Wario's universe.

Have you actually played 3D World? I honestly don't feel like anyone who has played it would put it on par with NSMB.
Don't get me wrong, TP is fucking great, but I don't think it did anything spectacularly different from DKC:R or even the original trilogy.

I did; the game was too easy overall.

I'm not putting it on par with NSMB, I'm saying when playing it I've still got that nagging more-of-the-same feeling. Maybe it's just because so many Mario games have released lately.

I kinda got that feeling out of Galaxy 2 and 3D World. They felt more about following the formula and a set-path rather than going off to explore, find alternate paths, secret world/stages/areas, and the whole stars/green stars deal just felt like padding.
Like, when you start up a game like Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, you can be like "okay, I have to go here first, but after that the world starts opening up for me to explore."
Where as in games after Galaxy, it was "Okay, start the game up and play this level once or twice, go from point A to point B on a set-path, go to next level, repeat until final boss."
Sure, the stages were well designed, and the multiplayer aspect was amazing, but recent games have left me desiring something else, bigger and better.
Like, I don't want something that's just "Mario 64 2" "Sunshine 2" or "Galaxy 3", I want a new Mario title, set within a new theme, with emphasis on exploring the levels and doing the missions in whatever order you like (similar to 64 and Sunshine to an extent), but with stages as large as Galaxy's, but more connected, rather than floating platforms everywhere.
My ideal theme would be snow/winter, to parallel Sunshine, with mechanics that make the icy environments fun. But of course, I'd settle for any other theme, as long as the game stuck with it and made each stage memorable, standing out on their own.
When it comes to the 3D Mario games, the one thing I found that 3D Land and 3D World did better was how the handled the power ups.
In both 64 and Galaxy, I never liked how situational the power ups were. Basically making them things that you need to have in order to beat the level, which completely goes against how they were in the 2D games. Power ups should never be something situational, but instead an extension of Mario's abilities. Sunshine is also guilty of this, but not so much as each of the different F.L.U.D.D. nozzles are available to use in every level. Galaxy 2 is also guilty of this too, except for one power up in particular, which was Cloud Mario. Now this is what i'm talking about! The ability to create cloud platforms when spin jumping (up to three), and giving you longer air time when jumping. Unfortunately that was one power up out of all the rest in the game.
Then 3D Land and 3D World came out and brought back how the power ups were in the 2D games, an extension of Mario's abilities.
GUYS I HAVE WIFI AT MY HOUSE NOW

I assume that this was a necessary evil in order to make the multiplayer even playable.
I definitely want the 4 different characters to be a series standard from here on though

Ehh, even without life-farming exploits, I ended up with well over 150 lives by the end of the game. In co-op mode, I ended up with about a hundred surplus lives. I definitely think they could have made things more challenging.
Though, I did quite enjoy the turn-based multiplayer of the earlier games, which might be a better format for challenging games.
Got one question. Anyone who uses Nintendo Club and it's from Europe? When is the last day to use the stars on rewards?

I honestly thought 3D World was challenging especially with the bonus stages
It's just that they puke out lives for you.

A Mario game with a Hotel hub world would be pretty cool. Serena Beach was one of my favorite levels in Sunshine.

So, what will it be?
Another Super Mario sunshine would absolutely be fantastic, but an HD version alone would sell well
HD Sunshine YES PLEASE.
At the very least, GameCube on the virtual console and Sunshine as one of the games. It'd make the GC Adapter have more use, especially now that there's third party adapters that work exactly the same way.
Why would Retro be tasked with porting Super Mario Sunshine? No damn imagination, you guys.
I'd like Sunshine on 3DS more than Sunshine HD. Some GCN games like Sunshine and WW still look good to this day, they don't really need HD remakes :v:
Give us something new and cool if we're getting another main series Mario on Wii U.
I'd like Sunshine on 3DS more than Sunshine HD. Wind Waker HD doesn't look that much better than the original.

I think Wind Waker only got a texture revamp, new lightning and shader in term of aesthetics. Polys on models are the exact same.
And it did not count as a main game, just like OoT or Majora 3D. The main on 3DS was Between Worlds and the main on Wii U will be the Zelda next year.
If they remade Sunshine, it most likely not count toward a main Wii U title but as a remake only with revamped visuals and controls.
I just hope 3D Worlds wasn't the main Mario game on the Wii U. Hopefully it gets announced at this E3 alongside Mario Maker. I really want a proper Mario adventure too, hopefully with various characters like in 3D Worlds.
