Hey guys! I bought a Wii U yesterday (which is my first Nintendo console since the SNES) together with Nintendo Land, Wind Waker HD and 50 € of eShop credit. Are there any hidden gems in the shop you can recommend? I don't want to spend it all on one new game or on classic games. I'd rather have three to five games. So far I'm interested in Cubemen 2 and Tipping Stars but what else should I get? Suggestions are much appreciated!
Wario Land 4 is an all time great platformer, Earthbound is a brilliant, unique RPG with a lot of heart and some of the best writing ever seen in a video game. Those are the two I absolutely recommend.
Shovel Knight
Alright, Shovel Knight is good, but it is without a doubt not a hidden gem. Unless you're talking about what you dig up in the game. I recommend Demon's Crest as a SNES virtual console game. It's not perfect, but it's very gothic and pretty open-ended. So if you're looking for that in an action platformer I'd check it out.
[t]http://oi57.tinypic.com/mb6f12.jpg[/t] I'm really excited you guys
Bayonetta 2!
call me stupid but after the AVGN reference in the video from last month I thought they would invite him for sure. They probably don't want that for obivious reasons but man if someone deserves to be at the Championships it's him.
mega64 confirmed that the segment was not an avgn reference
mega64 confirmed that the segment was not an avgn reference
If this is about the Power Pad scene, I don't know anyone who wouldn't cheat the fuck out of the system like that.
[t]http://oi57.tinypic.com/mb6f12.jpg[/t] I'm really excited you guys
Some asshole part of me really hopes Revengeance 2 is Wii U exclusive. Just to see what happens.
Crosspost!
So someone spotted an interesting detail.

Well, this tweet clearly confirms that Retro Studios are making Shovel Knight 2.
No, it's clearly Mega Man Legends 3 because Volnutt was a digger.
No, it's clearly Mega Man Legends 3 because Volnutt was a digger.
Honestly I wouldn't mind Retro Studios doing a Mega Man game, Legends or Classic or whatever.

I wouldn't exactly call Bayo a hidden gem.
I wouldn't exactly call Bayo a hidden gem.
i would recommend it to any Wii U owner though
looking for some wii u buddies to play splatoon with or whatever else. add r0b0tman5 on wii u!
Thank you for the suggestions, everyone! This will make the decision a lot easier.
Metroid Prime Trilogy if you have a wii mote and nunchuk.
Keep in mind that if you're going digital, the game will be about 7.7GB. on a standard Wii U...that's just about all the space (8GB) if you have other things...im assuming that the 8GB is already used for internal updates. a 32GB might not even solve the problem if you're getting other rarish Wii games like Pandora's Tower which is 2.7GB. heck, even the UK Zelda x Mario Kart 8 DLC size is 687MB...presumably they're compulsory to download even if you didn't buy the MK8 DLC.

I only have about 6GB left on mine. And i'm pretty sure that the upcoming updates/DLCs for Splatoon, Smash Bros, or Mario Kart are going to take what's left.

Too bad no Best Buy's near me are hosting the demo, oh well. Hopefully we'll get some new footage.
You're not mentioning Mario wearing a Spiny Hat?
There is no need to mention fashion.
Finally got my Wii U!! I never thought I would say a Mario game looked great until 3D World [sp] even though it fucking PISSES ME OFF SOMETIMES[/sp], and Smash Bros looks amazing in 1080p. So far I haven't found a thing about it that I dislike. Gonna go over to the TV and buy Wind Waker HD off the store, I have been waiting so long to play that!
Burt the Bashful returns as the final boss in Wooly World. Watch out brave yossi
I feel that Yoshi's Wooly World pulls off the woollen aesthetic better than Kirby's Epic Yarn did, in part thanks to the Yoshi franchise just being better suited to it. Might have to buy this when it comes out.

Might have to buy this when it comes out.
Here I come with the blazin opinions but I think YWW is going to be better all around because Epic Yarn was terrible. I think EY is the only Kirby game I can truly call bad because it made literally no effort to appeal to the home franchise- it was a game that was cute but it lacked tunes that had any energy behind it, Kirby had nothing really going for him that he was known for, almost all of the enemies were horribly, terribly generic outside the standard waddle dee's and their was NOTHING exciting done with the artstyle outside of the outline shapes that made up everyone and it was just kinda blah in general. I went in fully expecting it to be alright at best due to the not taking damage thing but even then I left that game with a terrible taste in my mouth. Yoshi on the other hand seems to be more fleshed out, Yoshi actually plays like Yoshi and they use the yarn to compliment his gameplay instead of completely overwriting it. The music sounds like it has some pep to it and isn't just a baby farting over and over again and the writing seems to have more soul in it then "kirby looked at ground and ground felt like pants woaaah".
Burt the Bashful returns as the final boss in Wooly World. Watch out brave yossi
Either you meant first boss, there is only one world or this is the greatest plot twist a Yoshi game has ever had.
Either you meant first boss, there is only one world or this is the greatest plot twist a Yoshi game has ever had.
There is no typo. Burt returns and this time he has a gun
If he really is the final, spoilers much? :v: Also, little fun fact: Plane Yoshi was a scrapped transformation in the original Yoshi's Island, revived as a concept 20 years later for this game.
