God, I collect Amiibos and I'm just sitting here thinking about it and I'm disgusted.
I feel the greatest sympathy for F-Zero fans presently. The last game they got was in arcades, the last home game they got was on the Gamecube.
They spent like ten minutes talking about Yoshi's Woolly World, a game that we've known about forever and is going to be out really soon. I really don't see why they did that. What did that tweet say?
It said Platinum was working on Star Fox.
man, I wanted Starfox to also have on-foot gameplay, but ship gameplay by Platinum is nice too. Paper Mario crossover is really nice. Everything else was so fucking disappointing.
Why is the Wii U Animal Crossing some Mario Party clone?
Why is the Wii U Animal Crossing some Mario Party clone?
It's just a reskinned mario party that REQUIRES Amiibo to play.
I'm honestly more disappointed in everyone's reaction to the direct than the actual direct itself. But then again most of the cynical banter I keep hearing during E3 is tiring to me.
Part of me is saying that nintendo treated this e3 like it was just a special direct. hear me out when i say this. but i believe that the over reliance with amiibos might be there downfall. What happened to retro studios? Why is these two games considered metroid games, I don't think nintendo needs to hold out the games for each e3 anymore due of the direct being a more simpler way to do so. Other than that, I'm really excited for Mario and luigi: paper jam.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/rkUnCEI.jpg[/t] This is getting more negative feedback than that Sonic Boom sequel.
yo Sift, what were you told about the direct? I'm legit curious, since it was apparently legit enough for someone to believe it.
Am I the only one who actually liked what they showed of the new Metroid Prime? I really liked Hunters and having a co-op Hunters game sounds really great. It's not even out yet anyway. We have no idea if it's good or bad. People are judging it entirely on the premise of "it's not a 2D Metroid like I was expecting for some reason". The game's not even close to being out yet. We don't know if it'll be good or bad. It could be great. Though I will concede that the Animal Crossing: amiibo Party was out of left field in the worst way. Literally who asked for an Animal Crossing Mario Party? I mean hey, it could be really good (especially after the extremely "meh" game that was Mario Party 10), but I wouldn't have chosen Animal Crossing of all things to be the theme for a new party game. I think anyone who expected a Wii U Animal Crossing was a bit foolish, though. Why do people want that so badly? We have New Leaf, and at least to me New Leaf is such a great game because it's portable. A Wii U game would just be an incremental update of New Leaf, locked to the living room. I couldn't get into City Folk much after Wild World for the same reasons.
I'm honestly more disappointed in everyone's reaction to the direct than the actual direct itself. But then again most of the cynical banter I keep hearing during E3 is tiring to me.
Just let the cynics and pessimists go at it for a week and move on to something else. Most of the reactions on Youtube are sensationalized for ad revenue sake. Personally I'm satisfied with what we got. Starfox of course, and as a M&L/PM fan the crossover looks great. The rest I'm indifferent to.
That new Metroid is having the whole Banjo Nuts and Bolts effect. Probably a good game, but not anything like what fans wanted/waited for.
Let's not forget that outside E3, Nintendo has Directs that cover much more and keeps us informed. Last year blew everyone away because they had loads of new stuff. Hyrule Warriors, Zelda U, Splatoon, Mario Maker and more. This year felt short because their baskets were almost empty. I think that's why we got the championship. They knew that if they showed the Digital Event alone with the Smash Direct, their presence would have not been very predominant. And they also have the Treehouse, which is unique to them, increasing further more their presence at E3. Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo all had good stuff and mediocre stuff to show but all three caught me on some really cool stuff this year.
Wasn't Retro Studios' new game supposed to be revealed at E3? What happened to that?
StarFox has NO online Multiplayer. But they will consider it down the road. Whats the 90s like Nintendo?
StarFox has NO online Multiplayer. But they will consider it down the road. Whats the 90s like Nintendo?
Now THAT's disappointing. Come on, Nintendo. The 3DS Star Fox was already disappointing enough without online. There's absolutely no reason why they can't have online. I guess at least we still have Steel Diver: Sub Wars...
StarFox has NO online Multiplayer. But they will consider it down the road. Whats the 90s like Nintendo?
Since this is 2015, such a thing can be added later. Also it's more Kamiya's doing than Nintendo's, as Kamiya prefers to make singleplayer games and is probably only putting multiplayer in because of tradition.
To the people confused as to why everyone is upset and disappointed, it's because very few games were announced, and the ones that were were by and large ones nobody asked for, like amiibo party or that metroid game. Not to mention at least half the show was dedicated to games we already know a lot about and are coming out soon. There was 10 minutes dedicated to a game coming out in a few months in NA, sooner in other countries, as well as a massive segment dedicated to Mario Maker, which we already know tons about and shouldn't be the centerpiece of a conference at an event usually dedicated to announcing new games.
Wasn't Retro Studios' new game supposed to be revealed at E3? What happened to that?
Ex-Retro Studios devs are working on Recore. That's all I know though.
Wasn't Retro Studios' new game supposed to be revealed at E3? What happened to that?
I think their new game is actually the Metroid spinoff.
This was the whole Yarn yoshi thing "so, uh, im not an artist or a coder soooooo i went home and made a doll" that one line of sentence took up a huge portion of the direct. something they could of put on youtube
yo Sift, what were you told about the direct? I'm legit curious, since it was apparently legit enough for someone to believe it.
2 things 1: Was told by a couple friends (one I know for SURE works in a office at Nintendo) that Platinum Games was helping with Star Fox 2: Other friend sent me the splatoon pictures and a small list of things that would be releasing far down the line. The art and screenshots he gave me were enough to convince me that it was real cause dude's not a good artist (I legit have no idea where he got the art from). He said that while he didn't know what was going on in the direct outside of splatoon it was going to be amiibo focused and mentioned the costumes that someone posted in the Splatoon thread, then he mentioned the singleplayer stuff and how there was going to be a new game mode after Rainmaker featuring Mario and the Fludd and he'd have a blooper form due to a mushroom he had. He didn't really say what the game mode itself was about though. Edit: Blooper Mario is horrifying btw
Ex-Retro Studios devs are working on Recore. That's all I know though.
Ever since the Wii U was announced, Retro have been bigging up some project they've got in store for it, referring to it as "something everyone wants them to do." Unless they were referring to DKC: Tropical Freeze (as great a game as it is, I doubt it's something everyone wanted Retro to do), we have yet to see anything of it. I'm betting it's a completely original IP, but it's been three years now since the launch of the Wii U. Where is Retro Studios and what are they doing?
I think their new game is actually the Metroid spinoff.
I thought it would be, but apparently their new title is for the WiiU.
still sounds like it could happen during the Treehouse. But I wonder why they would leave it out, a lot of people were expecting information on the new gamemodes.
OH BOY "Miyamoto continued, "My thing with E3 is that we always focus on what's coming out in the immediate future. We have some really great Zelda footage and, at some point we will be showing that off, but not today." You mean to tell me that you have footage to show us but you let Animal crossing party and Metroid ball get in its way? Sorry guys im saucy as hell right now.
