It's like if the SNES Fox wasn't fear inducing!

I like how it uses the shading technique from the clothing and costumes in W101 on the jacket. Looks more like the space-age material it should be.
(If you're confused, this is the technique I'm referring to. Gives a very distinct and eye-catching look to character clothing and accessories.)
Judging by almost six minutes in here, they definitely seem to keep the multiple routes through some levels from 64.
I think everyone legit forgot about the new mario tennis game after it was reveled. Although I am probably the only one hyped for that. I was hoping for some other sport though, like soccer or volleyball.

I fucking loved the mario tennis game on GC, so I'm pretty hyped.
God they keep making him look like a fucking owl.

I like that there's a new Mario Tennis, but I need to know more. With what Mario Tennis on GBA was and with all the content in Mario Golf, I wonder if it's going to be like Mario Tennis on GBA or Mario Golf, with tournaments and a lot of singleplayer content. That stuff would make me want to buy it.

I'm waiting to hear more before I get interested. I liked the n64 and gamecube one due to the wacky stages and minigames ontop of the normal tennis stuff- then the 3DS came out and that one was shit.
Yeah, all we saw is : HEY LOOK IT'S MARIO TENNIS ON HD!! LOOK PEACH AND FRIENDS ARE GIANTS NOW!!
That's it.

I actually really enjoyed the 3ds one, but I can understand why people didn't like it. Also this is the wii u thread so I shouldn't really talk about it.
What I still don't get is why Nintendo blew their load weeks early with nothing to show for E3
If the stuff from the Micro Direct/Smash Direct were added to E3, it would've been great.
But they needed their dev stories and forced amiibo shenanigans I guess.
I want a Wii U game called "Paper Mario: Attack from the Third Dimension" or something like that, which would be a Paper Mario game with the characters from the Mario & Luigi series.
That SMT x FE trailer was painfully not suited for a western audience.
What the hell was with all of that weird idol stuff? I have absolutely no idea what to think of the game after that. I'm actually more curious about the game now just because I can't tell what the fuck it is.

Everyone else who was excited for a Shin Megami Tensei/Fire Emblem crossover is sharing your confusion. Basically, what we got from it is nothing like what people expected it to be.
The worst part about the animal crossing mario party ripoff is that they should have learned from Sonic Shuffle, Sega's Mario Party ripoff that ALSO had no minigames. The main reason it was hated? NO MINIGAMES.
The boards themselves are filler to make the game feel a bit more strategic and to make the minigames have more meaning behind them than if you just played minigames; without those, the boards have no point.

I wouldn't say everyone. I kind of like that they're trying to get something original by mashing the two series together instead of demi fiend just walking up and chatting with chrom or something.
The problem I have with it is... who the fuck knows what the plot is- they're showing a bunch of flashy lights and idols and shit but seriously what the fuck even is this supposed to be about. Is there a plot??
That and the latest trailer was very clearly crammed in at the last second seeing as it had nothing in English. When the title card hangs and you just hear Japanese and most people are just scratching their heads at that point.

But Sonic Shuffle had minigames?

I think Nintendo approached E3 in the wrong way. Directs are for upcoming releases, but E3 is the one event where you absolutely should show off games that are still a reasonable ways off. Maybe not four years away, but games we could expect to see in 2016 at least.

Sonic Shuffle had minigames though?
None of them were any good mind you minus a trampoline one I remember thinking was kinda fun but the dreamcast practically died every time it was time to play.

Maybe he forgot about the minigames because he fell asleep while waiting for the Dreamcast to load them.

Sonic Shuffle's minigames were activated in a similar way to chance time is in Mario Party.
Basically, you can go 10+ turns without seeing a minigame.
Oh, also those turns were dragged out because you chose your move amount by cards and you could choose which card to use.

unless you're playing singleplayer, in which case the AI knows all of your cards and will take your best ones so you get fucked over

Why bother announcing a crossover when the crossover elements aren't immediately apparent? Why is doing something 'original' by making Conception 3/Omega Quintet 2/Akiba's Trip 2 any better than a more straight up crossover? Why did they announce it as a crossover when it wasn't even started 2 years ago, instead of just a collaboration? Why announce it at all when they had no work done on it? If this game is a cross between SMT and FE then the result is clearly a fusion accident, Level 2 Foul Slime.
Like, everything about the way this game has been handled has been poor. I'd say poorly thought out but they clearly didn't think when making this game. I'm a diehard fan of mainline SMT and fond of the older FEs and this game's reveal was my biggest disappointment of 2015.
I literally bought my Wii U for SMTxFE because I like Fire Emblem and I like SMT. I DON'T like Persona, or at least what Persona has come, despite my avatar indicating otherwise. SMTxFE just looks like more of that shiny fanservice bullshit Atlus has been pushing since Persona 3 took root and Persona 4 exploded. Neither SMT fans or Fire Emblem fans have got to be happy with this, considering not a single soul said this is what they wanted when the concept was first announced, but I bet it's going to be popular with a different audience and sell better than it ever would have if it actually did stay to both series' roots, because I'm a cynical piece of shit who also is cynical for a reason. There's a reason they're doing it, after all. Japan loves stupid shit like that. I've been there and idols are plastered freaking everywhere.
You can make a dumb idol game whenever you want without using two completely unrelated franchises to do it, especially considering this could have been a one time chance for these two IPs to have a crossover. All it's done is piss off the majority and please a minority.
I don't think we're the majority, though. There's a reason Fire Emblem is now a shiny fanservice series where you rub cute girls' faces instead of a stuffy old SRPG series with dignity, and it's not because you or I wanted it. (Well, actually, I can't say for sure if you did or not because I don't know. :v:) This kind of stuff brings in way more money from the public at large. Maybe not traditional fans, but we don't matter all that much at the end of the day. I've been here before.
Its always a shame when a company doesn't want to support a niche audience anymore.
Its always a shame when a company doesn't want to support a niche audience anymore.
Well, Awakening sold really well and Persona 4 sold really well so you double down on what the market wants, I guess.
[editline]17th June 2015[/editline]
I'm kinda hoping that the game takes a swerve and ends up being more than what it appears, but it's not looking terribly likely at this point.
I could stand it being so, well, anime, if it wasn't focusing on idol j-pop concerts as its apparent aesthetic. It's audio and visual sandpaper.
star fox zero looks like a game that's smaller in scope than assault/adventures, but maybe the series needed that. a bit of a "back to basics" reboot for the series doesn't at all sound bad.
skylanders: don't care, i'll probably get that bowser amiibo/skylanders figurine though.
triforce heroes is pretty cool, i might get it.
hyrule warriors legends looks like a lite version of hyrule warriors wii u, so i'll probably just watch a bit of gameplay before getting bored of it. tetra and king hyrule look off somehow, dunno how to describe it.
metroid prime federation force looks like an okay $20 downloadable title, i'll probably pick that up to make my timekiller library bigger. i'd much prefer a metroid prime 4 though.
fe:fates is a game we already know pretty much everything about; why waste time showing that off.
smtxfe (or i guess it's called "genei ibun roku"??) was bizarre as fuck, it didn't look like either game series and the art style kept jumping around confusing the shit out of me. i have no idea what to think about this game so i can't really gauge my interest in it.
xenoblade chronicles x still looks cool, thanks for the release date nintendo but i don't think it was necessary to dedicate any time to showing off the game when it's already out in japan.
i love animal crossing but i'm not interested in happy home designer. i'd rather have another core animal crossing game.
the biggest letdown for me was animal crossing amiibo festival, i was legit expecting ANIMAL CROSSING; not a board game. i don't even care how the board game is executed cause i don't plan on buying it. when it showed of animal crossing in HD with beautiful lighting and shadows i was sitting in my chair squealing with joy but with passive confusion about those weird spots on the ground, and then i started seeing board game elements and realized it wasn't at all what i thought it was. at this point i started screaming NO at my computer over and over and started tearing up. this was the lowest point of E3 by far for me. i don't want an animal crossing board game, i want a sequel to new leaf for wii u.
no idea why any amount of time was dedicated to yoshi's woolly world, we've already seen everything the game has to offer before release.
yo-kai watch: isn't this the game that was apparently the first to marginally compete with pokemon in japan? japan absolutely LOVES pokemon but here in the west it's not as insanely huge. sure pokemon is still hella popular here, but i don't see a pokemon competitor being at all successful here. confusing decision to localize it.
mario & luigi paper jam: the only real surprise in the digital event, it looks rad so i'll probably pick this up eventually.
mario tennis looks like a solid title but i'm not at all interested in mario sports (except mario hoops, that game was the shit (except square enix kinda fucked that up too with inserting their own characters in it))
super mario maker looks great, but nintendo's 30th anniversary for mario is a bit of a letdown. "send us videos" "ok"
?????
looking forward to the game, hopefully it's cheap or lives up to a $60 pricetag (unlike new super mario bros u)
epilogue: nintendo could have shown off the trailer for fatal frame 5 and fast racing neo, then have a passive bayo3 announcement mention in there since kamiya basically confirmed it on twitter. i also think it would have been very important to show a platinum logo in the starfox trailer simply for the sake of hype building.
