They're popular because they create a requirement loop. You got the game so you need figures. You now have a bunch of figures so you want the new game. The new game has a bunch of new figures along with it so you get those, etc. It's a pretty manipulative model. [editline]t[/editline] Amiibo became so popular partly because they have a different philosophy. They aren't limited to just one series of game, they're usable in all kinds of stuff you already have to add to the game or unlock content, and they aren't artificially split into tiers of figures that do different things; they're all equally capable so long as the game in question has content for them.
Okay Nintendo what the hell [t]http://i.imgur.com/TQqdlJv.png[/t] If they came with party games and has a bundle with two figures and cards, why the hell couldn't you just say that in the Direct?
Yeah, the puppets were amazing. [t]http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--UtHWO4U0--/c_fit,fl_progressive,q_80,w_320/1299859146306796435.gif[/t]
"JUST- DO IT!!!"
unrelated, Who here is going to best buy today or saturday? Is it worth it?
Replaying Hyrule Warriors and I can see where a lot of my problems with this game rise. The whole fact that enemies guard in the fucking MIDDLE OF YOUR COMBOS really throws you off. No other Dynasty Warriors game I know does that. Who the hell thought this would be a good idea?
Probably gonna get negative feedback for saying this, but I'm not really as upset as most seem to be about this Metroid "fiasco", I think that you guys are over-reacting to some extent. I mean yeah i understand that its a spin-off and not a proper title, especially after the failure of Other M, but you gotta at least give it a chance. Yeah, its all chibi-like, but you haven't actually played it yet have you? Just because it has a cutesy art-style shouldn't automatically make it a shit game. I could understand maybe being mad about it if the game-play also sucked on top of it being a spin-off and chibi-styled. But you should be happy enough that at least Nintendo still actually does anything with the Metroid series, i mean the ways you guys are reacting its pretty ridiculous. Its as if you're saying: "As an F-zero fan that i should be completely enraged by the fact that he hasn't had a new game in forever but there was maps and a kart in Mario Kart 8." When in reality, I'm completely fine with it by this point, and the Mario kart 8 dlc actually helped tide me over to some extent. That's how this game should be for you guys, something to tide you over until the next major Metroid game. Remember that there is that Retro game that is being worked on, and for all you know it could be the best Metroid game yet, we just don't know what it is yet.
The reason people are mad about it is because they clearly took an unrelated concept and slapped "Metroid Prime" on it just because the west wanted a Metroid Prime game and because Nintendo has apparently concluded "FPS = Metroid Prime" without realizing why people wanted a Metroid Prime. It wouldn't get anywhere near the amount of flack it has if it was it's own IP, as it should have been. Doesn't help that Blastball was shown at the Nintendo World Championships and was panned as kind of meh. The F-Zero DLC analog doesn't match because at least with Mario Kart, they actually catered to the audience that wanted F-Zero by having a speed and track themes related to the game (probably in an effort to gauge interest for an F-Zero, too). Metroid Prime: Federation Force caters to none of the Metroid fanbase and is clearly slapped with Metroid branding nearly as much as Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival is.
Treehouse streaming FExSMT It looks pretty fun [editline]17th June 2015[/editline] Lmao Anna works at a supermarket.

I would of been okay if it was playable without amiibos. I just wish amiibos became less like rare dlcs and more like optional things like how smash bros treated it. Also mario maker since the power ups.
Weapon Triangle is carried over, that's neat. Also the level up jingle is from FE
So does it just play like SMT with some FE characters in the mix?
Lmao "You know how team mates can build relationships in Awakening? We based a system on it where you unlock new abilities together" So instead of two sword strikes together... you have a idol dance party. GREAT

Okay wait, is NX like the follow up to Wii U? Like theyre making a whole new console already???
i honestly thought NX was going to be a side project to appeal to mobile gamers. something like a nintendo ipod touch clone.
Lol wow Nintendo. I think i might hold off on buying Nintendo games until i see what NX is. Nothing is coming out anyways that I really want to buy.

I think everybody should know that it's the Wii U successor by now. And of course they are making the console already. Microsoft and Sony also already work on Xbox 4 and PS5. But after Miyamoto saying that the Wii U will still get lots of games made me hope that we'd get a new Metroid for it.
i wouldn't bet on xbox two/ps5 successors being in any tangible development phase, but yeah nintendo could very well have a working prototype of a wii u successor made.

Nintendo already making something new after 3 years is not that good. But they never said it was going to replace the WiiU.
Okay wait, is NX like the follow up to Wii U? Like theyre making a whole new console already???
It's not meant to replace the 3DS or Wii U. The DS was a similar situation and it did end up replacing the GameBoy, though. Regardless, it's far more likely to replace the 3DS than the Wii U if it DOES end up replacing something.
Yeah but its going to be a VERY long time before we see or hear anything about those guys consoles. Nintendo already making something new after 3 years is not that good. But they never said it was going to replace the WiiU.
Wii was released in 2006, Wii U's first working prototype was made in 2008. If Nintendo continues this pattern, NX could very well be the codename of Wii U's successor.
Okay wait, is NX like the follow up to Wii U? Like theyre making a whole new console already???
It might not be a new console so much as a new platform (IE console, handheld and mobile portal). Think more Onlive/Gaikai than a physical system. They DID say they wanted to unify the three. NX might be a service that can run on existing hardware which BEHAVES like a new system. [editline]17th June 2015[/editline] They've said almost nothing specific so this is all speculation of course, but I don't think it's unreasonable speculation.
imagine a Direct in the next month that opens with Federation Force gameplay and then all of a sudden, Ridley blasts through the wall with Samus screw jumping after him and firing missiles, and the camera switches to FPS Metroid gameplay on Wii U (with twin-stick controls) as she explores a new game world so the Metroid Prime logo falls down and the Federation Force title falls down but then a new subtitle falls in and knocks it away so that it's Metroid Prime: _________, and they show that Federation Force is a free download for 3DS included with the new game for Wii U that'd be an interesting way of handling multiplayer and adding replayability to a singleplayer game
Okay wait, is NX like the follow up to Wii U? Like theyre making a whole new console already???
it may feel like a short time, but we had 5 years (depending on your country) between the gamecube and the wii. 6 years between the ps2 and ps3. 4 years between the Xbox and Xbox 360. Though, a more recient example, we had 8 years between the Xbox One and Xbox 360 (and that was painful for many different reasons.) And 6 years between the Wii and the Wii U. In general, a console's lifecycle is 5-6 years, and it's been 3 since we got the Wii U. I can only assume we're looking at a 2017 release for the NX, as it's announcement will probably be a year later than when we actually get info about it. 5 years ain't too bad, but it probably feels short because gaming has been going by fast as of late.
imagine the next direct they announce a federation force disney cartoon where the federation is filled with sassy minorities who smack talk each other and have a zord powered by friendship and they have a catchy oneliner like ''the federation force blasts to the xtreme"
