Is the amiibo stuff only available for the NES tilesets?
would be interesting to see various characters in NSMB style
SMB 1 only
ah damn. would've been nice if they at least worked with SMB3 as well.
Plus side, it's not locked to amiibos, they just unlock the skins faster. Completing 100 mario challenges unlocks them as well.

Also here's the tileset for SMB1's ghost house.
All these new assets are really cool. Like the Mario World ship has a rendition of the SMW theme like every other song in that game, whereas the SMB1 airship has an original song, all the sprites for characters ported back or forward etc.
I wish more of them fit the original styles though, SMW Bowser should look like his clown car appearance.
apparently the walljump glitch in the Super Mario Bros. (and theorically Super Mario World) theme is still present in Mario Maker, and the first level of the NWCs is beatable that way. Meaning skipping 90% of the level.
Brace yourself for Kaizo Mario Maker

What glitch is this, now?
What glitch is this, now?
Basically if you land on the side of a wall that's on a 16x16 boundary in positioning and then hit jump again on that very frame (aka the average player isn't going to pull this off except on luck), you'd jump again because presumably Mario's considered physically on the ground for that frame.

You thought it would wind up anything else?
Honestly that was maybe the first thing that came to mind. I'm not going to (I'd rather make fun levels than infuriating ones), but everyone else probably is.

At least to share levels you have to beat them yourself first, so anyone planning on making Kaizo Mario levels has to be a god at Mario, or just have a lot of patience.
do you guy's think Super Mario Maker could use its own thread? a place for recommendations of good levels to share as well as shareing your own levels could be useful once the games out
Didn't someone make a super mario megathread not long ago? Could use that one.

Curiously, this was an unusually prevalent glitch back on the NES and SNES (even appearing on SMW2: Yoshi's Island), despite the fix being rather straightforward. I guess they just never assumed that people would abuse them back then (or didn't think it merited the extra code execution time) but are now incorporating it to make the engine feel authentic.

I think this is honestly why we don't get a moving SMW level ending walk, because people will make it so that you die unless specific conditions are met Kaizo-style.
2 things i'd like to see that SMM is missing are slopes and water that you can add in a non underwater stage. If they can add those that would be awesome. There's still a couple months left so who knows what else they can add in that time.
I wouldn't be so sure. Apparently the disks Best Buy got were basically retail copies (though locked to a kiosk mode through use of a serial code), which means the game might already be done.
Hey guys. I'm thinking about buying a WiiU right now. Would you recommend it right now? Any recommendable games next to Splatoon and Tropical Freeze?

Smash 4 of course, 3D World, Wind Waker HD and Mario Kart 8, just to name a few.
[editline]20th June 2015[/editline]
Also Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2 if you're into those kinds of games. If you like Deus Ex or future fiction in general, Deus Ex Human Revolution: Director's Cut on WiiU is the definitive version.

If you like Pikmin, definitely Pikmin 3. Easily one of the Wii U's best games.

I quite liked Hyrule Warriors.

Smash 4, Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3.
All of those and Splatoon are A+ games.
New Super Mario Bros U (and Luigi U) are both solid platformers. Donkey Kong Country is amazing. If you like Monster Hunter definitely pick up the Wii U version.
Also Metroid Prime: Trilogy for a triple threat, and the beefy library of Virtual Console games (including DS games you play on the Wii U Gamepad).

Man the music in this game is so catchy, it has that Duck Tales Remastered feel to it.

Also no one posted this yet if I'm correct, so

That'd be because its the same composer, Jake Kaufman.
You know sitting here and getting the itch to play HW again I kinda realize it's probably the best Zelda spin-off title out there. It's such a good ass game.

I fucking hate and love adventure mode. Most of the missions are still really hard even with my high leveled characters.

Are you taking advantage of enemy windups? It helps more then you'd think!
I love that all the Super Mario Maker trailer is just full of "balls to the walls" created levels, because they knew people are just ognna go Kaizo Mario it, even myself.
I fucking hate and love adventure mode. Most of the missions are still really hard even with my high leveled characters.
I'm on the same boat,I want to at least find the costumes and Dark Lord on every Adventure Map, it's fun but it's a pain in the ass to level up, especially for characters that you barely use.
If you like Pikmin, definitely Pikmin 3. Easily one of the Wii U's best games.
I fully concur that it's one of the best WiiU games, but damn if the lack of a Piklopedia and captain's journal didn't dissapoint me a little.
And I really missed this music:

I loved just sitting around reading journal entries of Olimar reminiscing about life back home and how trinkets he found reminded him of his journey thus far. All of the little entries about the enemies and what they did (and how to cook them) just made the game feel so much bigger than it was, and I really missed that in Pikmin 3.
Agreed. For being the most polished game in the franchise, it was really missing some of the little things.
For leveling in Hyrule Warriors, there's a glitch that gives you max rupees. Be warned that it's pretty random, however.
