You're talking to someone who's hype as fuck for both of those things. My point is that console and game makers don't need E3 anymore, and they haven't since streaming video was first feasible. [editline]7th July 2015[/editline] As someone who is interested in all four fronts of home gaming, I would like to see everyone move away from the trade show format. This is 2015, we don't need to send journalists to a show so they can write biased articles and make wild assumptions we'll see in a week, we can just watch it all ourselves as it happens. The only thing keeping it alive at this point is tradition, expectation.
E3 is basically everyone elses big hype as fuck Nintendo Direct, like everyone saves their big announcements for a hype day. its kinda like a festival. you dont NEED to go to Oktoberfest if you want to get drunk, I can open my fridge and get booze right now and get wasted, but it's more fun to go to a big stupid event with loads of people where everyone gets wasted and has a good time. thats basically what E3 is. everyone saves their hype announcements for this one day and everyone has the big community experience of judging the conferences. if anything Nintendo is the one that's obsolete and behind on the times because Nintendo could have had a really super solid E3 if they had just saved some of the announcements that they gave away in the past three directs for their E3 direct. you go in to E3 to get blown away by exciting announcements. Nintendo's E3 conference had three games that we didn't previously know about: Fed Force, Animal Crossing Amiibo Party, and the Skylanders shit. Guess what people hated? All three of those things. Even that Micro Direct a week before E3 would have been better saved for the proper conference. If they had saved Chibi Robo Ziplash and shown a little more than nothing for Project Treasure, the E3 direct would have been a little less flaccid, and I fucking HATE Ziplash.
The fact it's become more a spectacle than an actually informative event is becoming harmful to its integrity. Just ask Ubisoft. Or don't, that would be a better idea actually. It's all about bombast and flash. We get more prerendered drivel and gimmicky pandering every year because it's more conducive to a stage showing than live gameplay is, and that's egregiously unhelpful to people who are considering buying these things; these days we don't know if a game's actually going to look or even play like what they say it will until it's already out, and that's bad. That's REALLY bad. And it's mostly a product of having to be showy and impressive while investors are sitting in, rather than trying to honestly inform consumers. [editline]7th July 2015[/editline] Imagine an event like E3 where instead of just showing trailers and forcing memes all day, companies actually demo their products for more than a few minutes at a time. You'd have kiosks to play the new games or try the new hardware, while a rep plays it live for a large audience both at the event and on sites like Youtube and Twitch, explaining as they go along. That's all it is, raw gameplay and developer commentary. 100% informative, requires a working build of said software or hardware to participate (no more just faking it with CG, or showing an empty black box and waxing optimistic over it for thirty minutes), and still wouldn't fail to impress the people who actually care. That'd be awesome, I'd go to something like that.

i think the problem with Nintendo's E3 was that it was just them. they used up most of their unexpected reveals for the Nintendo mini direct and Smash direct for Ryu/Lucas, i mean other than Super Mario Maker and Star Fox Zero, nothing else doesn't seem that major; Yo-Kai Watch is a 2013 game presumably made before the Nintendo Network (let alone Miiverse) took off, people were expecting it to appear considering TOMY themselves announced securing the toy rights. Bravely Second? Square Enix probably have to compulsory let Nintendo release it after the whole blackmail leak about BD's publication rights if they attempted to translate any more DQ games, they must really want to exert those iOS sales. Presentation-wise, there wasn't much noise for Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam, and the fanbase of Nintendo seems really vocal about the whole Animal Crossing/Metroid situation. the games list for the Wii U/3DS might even be worse over here in UK/EU, games that are set for Autumn/Winter is probably 2016 for us, except for the games that specifically has Amiibo...probably to tap into the Christmas market. don't think people gave Project Treasure much of a look after the obtuse teaser before that didn't even show any footage. skimping out on Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is probably a bad decision; they even regulated it to Youtube status and it was just an English-language video of what Japan already knew. As i was typing this, i almost forgot about Zelda...kind of says much. 3DS Hyrule Warriors is nice. seems kind of bad that they're falling behind on Fallout/Square Enix though, even Microsoft probably got a bit of hype from the Rare collection and Backwards-compatible Xbox One. seems slightly bad that Square Enix had to lie by using Chrono Trigger music to get people thinking it was something CT related, but it was just stuff they assimilated like Tomb Raider and Hitman, think they even shown off FF7 twice they must've known FF7 specifically would've been a hoot if they went before Nintendo indirectly by spooning it with the Sony presentation. Dragon Quest would've been amazing, but a french translation slip spoiled it before they did anything. probably pushed Nier and Star Ocean aside to show off more minutes of that KH mobile game and KH3 itself. [sp]oh and Mario Tennis, but isn't that expected?[/sp] EDIT: Would the Yoshi's Woolly World info be much, despite already being shown on Nintendo UK's channel long before E3? it's like saying that [sp]Maggie[/sp] shot Mr. Burns and the mysterious dead character on the Simpsons was [sp]Krusty's Father[/sp] or that [sp]Brian[/sp] died on Family Guy. [sp]and retconned back to life via time travel. even Stewie made ANOTHER time machine, even after those debatable/hated Journey to the X episodes. meaning those 2 or so episodes doesn't happen.[/sp]
I'm in a ridiculously small minority here, but even as a huge fan of the Metroid series, I actually really like the look of Federation Force. I mean, it looks a lot like Hunters did, but it's co-op instead of competitive, which sounds pretty great to me. And then meanwhile another friend of mine who's a huge Metroid fan (of the 100%-ing Super Metroid in 2 hours variety) just says "We don't talk about Federation Force." I mean, am I just stupid for thinking everybody's being obnoxiously closed minded about this?

Other M was a turd, everyone knows that- and people have been straight up BEGGING for a new metroid game for YEARS. I think it's fair to be vocal about Federation n' Friends when the series is as mistreated as it is. Like difference with Hunters is it had a single player to go along with it with Samus, the art style was in line with Prime and the hunters themselves were badasses for the most part. Federation n Friends art style is super kid friendly, all the monsters have really boring names like "fire beetle." and everything just feels completely soulless. Won't shit on you for liking it though, just trying to say why others don't
I know I've said something similar before, but I have found the fan reaction to Federation Force to be deplorable. Not the fans who just think it'll be bad, no, because that is a legitimate opinion- I'm talking about the ravenous ones who think the game should be cancelled, trashed and buried because it's not Prime 4. Next Level Games have been getting a shitton of hate just because they're developing this game, and that's very unfair. Do I think the game could be better? That it'll probably just be a medicore holdover until the NX opens with Prime 4? Sure. But anyone who thinks that it's shit and should be removed entirely is too angry.
I personally think it looks really interesting, almost like a first person shooter monster hunter.
I personally think it looks really interesting, almost like a first person shooter monster hunter.
It doesn't really look too bad, honestly my first impression was laughter because I was correct in thinking that Blast Ball looked like Metroid. Personally I'm all for expanding the universe of Metroid, considering all we really get is from Samus's point of view and logs.
i say the more true online co-op games we get from nintendo, the better as much as i like either destroying my friends or being destroyed by my friends, i'd really prefer to just relax and play on the same side as them

I think some games are better off as single player events only and multiplayer should be considered with the tone of the series in general. Metroid for that exact reason is a shitty fit seeing as the entire point of the game is to be Samus and be alone on alien worlds bein a badass.
Personally I think E3 is severely obsolete as far as the consumer side of the games industry goes. It's been growing more bloated and uninformative every year since halfway through the last gen. It's an investor-oriented showcase with consumer-oriented reporting. What it should be is an entirely investor-focused event, with the companies encouraged to show their upcoming products to consumers at their own pace throughout the year outside of it. Nintendo's got the right idea with the directs, now to wait for everyone else to catch on. [editline]7th July 2015[/editline] The old argument that E3 is the industry's primary hype generator falls flat when you consider how much hype even minor directs have stimulated in the past.
bethesda literally was the only not shitty presenter there. Everyone else was a total joke. Nintendo danced around the concept of showing nothing. OK, star fox... thats... it. But Bethesda showed the world how it's done also that dude pitching the game about the string character, he did it pretty great as well.
I wonder if I'll be judged by the cashier by buying Federation Force day 1 or mobbed by angry metroid fans edit: i think that's a yes

It just occurred to me that the plot of Mario vs Donkey Kong on the GBA is basically just the result of Donkey Kong being unable to get his Amiibos. That game really was ahead of its time.
In Toy Story 2, a greedy toy collector steals a valuable collectible toy that "comes to life" from a child in order to sell it for a large profit.

I think I may have somehow fucked my gamepad because my right stick for some reason if I tilt it up it'll stay slightly tilted up until I push it back down. It makes aiming in Splatoon a real pain in the ass.
Seems Devil's Third is a hot piece of garbage that NoA isn't even gonna bother publishing. What a shame.
Devil's Third always seemed like a janky ass game from the footage alone, but the fact that NoA is refusing to publish it is pretty dumb considering they were all too happy to show videos on it in previous years.

Which do condoms with eyes prefer: rickety minecarts, or bisected churros full of jizz? [editline]9th July 2015[/editline] How did they think that second one was okay
Which do condoms with eyes prefer: rickety minecarts, or bisected churros full of jizz? [editline]9th July 2015[/editline] How did they think that second one was okay
Naw, it's just a giant yellow pudding monster puking icing down a straw cut in half. That is exactly how they pitched that art.
I like that the roller coaster ghosts don't look like they're having fun at all. One of them is just glancing at it's friend like "why are we here."
I like that the roller coaster ghosts don't look like they're having fun at all. One of them is just glancing at it's friend like "why are we here."
Ghosts can fly bro why would they have fun on a roller coaster?
I guess I'm defaulting to roller coasters since I can't swim! v:v:v
Just dropped my gamepad, some pixels are messing up and flashing, not noticeable, I think it is disappearing as when I tested it, it was really hard to see. I think it's fine, but in case it gets worse, how do I go about replacing a gamepad? I have had the console since 2012.
You would have to contact Nintendo support and it will probably cost you money to replace it.
50-180 bucks, shit. I hope shipping is not too hard on it as well. Not much of a problem right now tho.
