I do wish the Wii U was more powerful, just for third party support. I wouldn't have minded paying an extra $100.
Alas, that isn't Nintendo's style, and we all buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games anyway.
Developers who hate Nintendo would have a field day if the NX was less powerful than the Wii U.
I really want to play Wind Waker again, what does the HD version add over the Gamecube version?

- Upgraded sail you can get at the auction house that doubles boat speed and always has the wind in its favor
- Pictobox photos can now be saved
- Tingle charts are mostly replaced by actual triforce pieces
- Gyro aiming in first person
- Significantly improved cannon controls on the boat
- Various animations have been greatly sped up for repetitive or mundane things like pushing, swinging or climbing
Etc, etc. Basically a ton of annoyances fixed.
Widescreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen support.

Doesn't matter that much, my Gamecube is hooked up to a huge 4:3 CRT any way.
I'll probably pick up HD from the store tonight though. I need more Wii U games.

Unless it isn't meant to replace the Wii U and/or is some sort of handheld.

Huh, I didn't know about that one.
The NX is literally a wii-u with a gun taped to it
It would not at all surprise me if NX is just a streaming service like OnLive or Gaikai, which is compatible with WiiU, n3DS and smartphones via an app.
A server renders the game and takes input, your device displays the game and sends input. Visuals are uniform on all supported devices aside from resolution, and in theory have no limit to how good they can look ultimately, as rendering servers can be updated with better hardware over time without affecting your device at all.

This falls in line with the rather perplexing statement of "it's a new platform, and not a successor to the WiiU... but it kinda sorta is also"
I don't mind people disagreeing with me (I've been right about things I've been buried in Xs over before), this is just what makes sense to me in context. Until we have pictures, specs, any other sort of details, or even official confirmation over what the heck it is, it's all just speculation anyway.

You skipped the whole "company overspent every dollar it earned and alienated it's consumers by putting add-ons and systems out at an absolutely ridiculous rate while also barely supporting them" part.
also the part where they released a console without telling anybody, least of all devs
Nintendo has stated in the past that they would never develop software for other platforms. They would rather stop making software altogether.
They have also stated an interest in the mobile market.
To satisfy both of these statements, they would need to develop their own smartphone.
The NX is probably a smartphone.

That's not their plan for smartphones at all. They're contracting Japanese mobile developer DeNA to make games for the current set of smartphones, I doubt Nintendo is going to bring out their own.
I can't see them making a smartphone but I could still see the NX being portable and compatible with Android games.
Some kind of iPad with buttons. Could be compatible with 3DS games and be used as a Wii U controller. I dunno.

Although to be fair the Sega Saturn was a colossal mess and was very hard to program or code for.
does anyone here even use the wiiu browser for posting?

I figure that's the idea. They're pushing the idea of making a universal platform with NX, so I figure what they're really focussing on is making an OS that will support all their games going into the future and making various different platforms built around that OS. One is likely to be a successor to the Wii U, but another could be a smartphone, who knows?
this thing is just awkward

Nintendo ouya edition
I really like the Wii U internet browser, it's probably the best one I've seen on any console (not that that's setting the bar high).

me when i'm lazy in bed
i don't like the change they made to the search button, it used to work like entering a url into the address bar but now it just takes you to google

The only other "not a computer" browser I've used before the wii u was the 3ds browser, so the wii u browser completely blew me away.
The Wii U browser is infinitely better than all other home console browsers simply because you can type with the touchpad instead of a dpad.
On the flip side, typing on the Wii was an ungodly hell.
Is this indication that the NX will be more powerful than the Wii U, or is this wishful thinking by the dev?
IF the NX is the actual successor to the Wii U, Nintendo would be pretty dumb to not make it more powerful than the Wii U, because that would be so fucking backwards to not give it better hardware.

I guess he just used questionnable humour in the interview, but I dunno, he still joked about those things, context or not.
It's like, "lol u suck, just joking haha. I might sell my 3ds, just kidding haha". Still sounds like he's rubbing it in.
Also he didn't come back on what he said about Miyamoto. "He more or less understood what I said", why would you make that assumption? Makes you sound like an ungrateful douche.
News about the Miiverse update is slowly trickling out:
Hi Miiverse friends!
First of all, I want to thank everyone who contributed their thoughts and ideas on the redesign of Miiverse.
I read through all of your comments on my announcement about the redesign and noticed that many of you had concerns about the posting limitation and changes to the Activity Feed. Below, I will try to clarify a few things about the reasons for these changes.
First and foremost, Miiverse is created for gamers to talk about games - to give everyone the chance to ask questions about a game/app, for example, or if you get stuck and need help in-game.
But over time, some people have started using Miiverse for other things, such as long chats that are not strictly game-related. These posts would prevent others from enjoying their favourite communities to the fullest. In order to keep Miiverse game-centred for you, we decided to redesign Miiverse, which includes introducing the posting limitation.
Some of you had concerns about other parts of the renewal as well. Let me clarify some of those for you:
1.) You will be able to attach screenshots to your drawings in the Drawings section.
2.) It will be possible to post the screenshots saved in your Album section into your Play Journal.
3.) We are planning to enable the posting of screenshots saved in the Album also into the “Drawings” and “Discussion” sections. This will be implemented sometime in the near future.
4.) Posts and comments made before the renewal will not be deleted and will be viewable also after the renewal.
5.) The Activity Feed will remain as it is, you just won’t be able to post in it. You can still see the posts made by your friends and the people that you are following.
Once I have more information on the renewal date or other new functions, I will post it here. If you have any further questions, feel free to share them with us. :)
Thanks for reading!
I'm glad children are crying they can't roleplay on miiverse.
[editline]23rd July 2015[/editline]
Like don't do that on miiverse what the hell.
But how will Allan find love now?
At least this will fix the problem of Miiverse being used by 10 year olds just to take over a whole community.
Can't say I care too much since I never really use Miiverse, but I'm glad they're fixing some of the bigger issues.
