Just beat LoZ: The Minish Cap for the first time in 10 years. It's really fun and fairly easy all the way up until the final boss, then it just rams you into a wall of difficulty all of a sudden. The final sequence alone took me 2 hours and a number of game overs. I didn't even die once until the ending section.
The gamepad idea is definitely the best thing to come out of the Wii U, that's for sure. Honestly I hope all the consoles implement it in some way next-gen. It's just so useful.
Honestly the gamepad is probably one of my favorite controllers out of any Nintendo system. It's so extremely useful, but the problem is it seems like no one knows how to use it. The few games I can think of immediately that really utilize the gamepad are Nintendo Land, Splatoon, Pikmin 3, & maybe ZombiU. It's sad that even some Nintendo first parties are afraid to use it.
My biggest complaint is that the Gamepad and Pro controller triggers are just buttons and not actual triggers, like PS4 and Xbox controllers. Even the Gamecube controller had triggers.
Grossing fingers Nintendo goes back to triggers for their next project, it being NX or something else.

It's not like the gamepad screen just shuts off, it is actually displaying black. Although admittedly it is nice to not have something distracting on there while playing on the TV.

Analog triggers have a +/- axis instead of being a 1/0 input, meaning you have greater control over something governed by those triggers. Mario Sunshine made a great case for them by letting you shoot water at differing pressure the more or less you held the trigger down. Additionally, lightly holding it let you spray while walking, and clicking it down all the way would lock you in place for precise aiming. This can't be done on a digital trigger, nor can true throttle control in a racing game, which hurts the genre considerably, since throttle control is a big part of maintaining race lines and the like. It doesn't impact imprecise racers like Mario Kart, but more realistic racing/driving games NEED analog triggers. [editline]t[/editline] Unfortunately though they do take up more space, make controllers heavier and cost more, so some are choosing to drop them moving forward.
are they really THAT heavy though? [editline]26th July 2015[/editline] i mean, weight is probably not the problem here
There's also the problem of the mechanism deteriorating over time with extensive use. This happened to the analog face buttons of the Dualshock 3 somewhat frequently, they'd become touchy or unreliable with age. Making a mechanism that is less prone to this wear is as you might expect more expensive.

I know Kamiya has been known to be that kind of dude for a long time, but it still feels somewhat unusual for me to see a middle-aged game developer like him use internet terms like "shitposter" and generally act like a FP/SA user. Not saying that it's a necessarily bad thing, but just unusual. Although, I suppose that feeling has already been wearing off considering shit like that is becoming more common.
He's a cool guy. Kind of crazy but you'd have to be to think up some of the stuff he has. Reason why he can be really hostile on Twitter is that EVERYONE bothers him ALL THE TIME.
Maybe he goes on 2chan :v:
He went on 4chan a few years back after 101 posters on /v/ posted timestamps with their copies of Wonderful 101.
He went on 4chan a few years back after 101 posters on /v/ posted timestamps with their copies of Wonderful 101.
Yeah but I don't think he goes on there regularly; I meant maybe he goes on 2chan casually and that's where he picked up his online persona :v:
When will eshop return from maintenance, Got a game for a pal.
Dragon Quest 10 + 11 have been announced... for the NX! Weird.
I like how it yells what you pick at you. BLAPPER
That fucking music. Hnnng. That mario world airship theme when in the editor sounds like something that should be part of an action movie or some shit.
Dragon Quest 10 + 11 have been announced... for the NX! Weird.
I am secretly hoping this might be a sign that Kingdom Hearts 3 might come to the NX as well.
Dragon Quest 10 + 11 have been announced... for the NX! Weird.
From what I understand...not really. They said that they'll "consider putting it on the NX", which really means jackshit in the long run. Of course, if anyone's gonna know it's gonna be them, but even then I don't think anyone knows yet. I'll try to be hopeful.
From what I understand...not really. They said that they'll "consider putting it on the NX", which really means jackshit in the long run.
They basically went from confirmed, then revised their statement. It feels like they accidentally revealed something they weren't suppose to in the live stream than malicious intent, especially since it would date the NX for a 2016 release if they want all versions out in the 30th anniversary year.
I feel like a lot of companies are making a lot of promises they'll end up ultimately breaking regarding NX
I feel like a lot of companies are making a lot of promises they'll end up ultimately breaking regarding NX
Just like the WiiU!
Even the stuff that might actually still happen like Project CARS, by the time it does, nobody will care because it's been out for a while on other platforms. See Deus Ex: HR Director's Cut on WiiU. Objectively the best version of the game (and uses the gamepad very, very well), but everyone already played it, so it sold pretty poorly.
