Honestly I'm not getting my hopes up high for third parties with the NX. Even if Nintendo made a perfect and flawless console they'd still find an excuse not to make games for it. I really hope for once we might actually get decent third party support.
Dragon Quest 10 + 11 have been announced... for the NX! Weird.
Do you have a source? With that news, I'm already extremely hopeful for the NX. [editline]28th July 2015[/editline]
I feel like a lot of companies are making a lot of promises they'll end up ultimately breaking regarding NX
It was understandable to be honest, Wii U had poor sales and the controller screen added another area of development that most companies didn't want to implement. We can hope that the NX will be more compatible with 3rd party developers. It already fixed a major issue with the Wii U which was the name.

It feels like they said something they weren't suppose to say to begin with rather than malicious intent.

What a great industry this has become.
They won't look into working with something meaningful and interesting in terms of how it can be used, but they'll throw millions at making half-baked games look as pretty as possible. What a great industry this has become.
Developing Wii U ports simply wasn't profitable. The Wii U's architecture is evidently very different from both the 360 and the PS3, making it hard for developers to port games to it. Nobody wanted to learn an entirely new machine that was essentially on par with the 360 and the PS3, consoles that at the time had maybe two more years left before they got left in the dust. Making games for last gen is no longer worth the trouble, and the Wii U is a last-gen console in basically everything but name. Don't get me wrong, I love the Wii U, but its failure was not the fault of lazy developers. It simply wasn't profitable. It was a console released with the same specs as the 360 and the PS3 released right at the end of the 360 and PS3's life cycle that nobody had any hands-on experience with. Nobody had time to learn how to properly port things to this console and nobody had time to learn the console's gimmick. Either these developers hire entire new teams and train them to port exclusively to this weird underpowered new thing, or they could focus their efforts on developing games for the upcoming PS4 and Xbone and keep their old teams that were already experienced in porting things to the PS3 and 360 without having to learn anything new and weird. And man, let's face it, the Wii U fucking sucked when it launched. It took like five minutes from console startup to actually get in to a game, you couldn't (and still can't!) install games from their disks, the controller's battery died in three hours (this is still a problem but most dedicated Wii U owners have found or paid for workarounds to the issue), and nobody knew what the console was because of its confusing name in a market saturated with "Wii [Noun]" hunks of plastic. So no man, it's not the industry's fault that the Wii U's in the state it's in. It's Nintendo's. Here's hoping they fix the problem with the NX.
Like i said before, developers wanted big boxes with power, Sony and Microsoft listened and delivered and Nintendo chose to ignore everyone again. They chose to not go to the x86 platform that everyone else is on. Its Nintendo fault.

Its Nintendo fault.
Even if the Wii U did well during its launch, it'd start dying now anyway since developers are starting to leave the last gen behind. We're getting more games that are exclusive to this gen and aren't getting ported back to last gen, so even if the Wii U were easier to port to the third party support would start dwindling around now. As much as I hate to admit it, moving away from the Wii U now is a good move.

They chose to not go to the x86 platform that everyone else is on. Its Nintendo fault.
When have they ever gone with the flow? Every iteration of their hardware has had some sort of gimmick or difference than those already on the market, and usually did fine. The problem is that they established a base in family homes with the wii, and attempted to merge that audience with the more hardcore gamer fanbase, and failed miserably. Combine this with Japan's sudden switch to mobile (and the above reasonings of how it was on par with the last generation), and you have a console DOA. With the NX supposedly "bridging the gap between mobile and console," we may see another Wii situation where the expanded audience takes an interest, or maybe just a wii u situation where it fails horribly yet again. Just gotta wait and see.
So Gamexplain did some speculating about the Dragon Quest announcement:
Never go full speculation Unless you're a conspiracy theorist, History Channel, or Game Theory
The kinda shitty thing is with the NX, if they get rid of the gamepad entirely, it'll most likely mean no backwards compatibility. If they keep it, they might face the same scrutiny they got with the gamepad in the first place and alienate 3rd parties again. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. But that's Nintendo in general

remember when japanese game boxes for nintendo games were different shapes then the western ones their gba boxes were longer horizontally while their gb boxes were taller vertically.
Nintendo updated their Japanese site to confirm Mario Maker will support all the existing Amiibo with the exception of Mii Fighter, including the Pokemon Amiibo and several Animal Crossing cards. 99 skins total. Digital download size is 1.4GB, and you can play with the gamepad, sideways Wiimote, Classic Controller or Pro Controller. This means you will be able to play as Sonic in a Mario game.

I can't wait to see Fox's sprite

Game Informer was asked why the non-Nintendo bias in their publications. Their answer: [t]http://i.imgur.com/cwApufb.jpg[/t] A big fat non-answer. [editline]t[/editline] To summarize and clarify: they aren't including Nintendo titles because none of them - even upcoming ones - are "noteworthy" to their writers, and because Nintendo doesn't go out of the way to give them exclusive content to publish, which is what they mean by "we can't show you a game if they don't show it to us." It's not Nintendo being secretive, it's Nintendo not personally inviting them over to kick the tires of what they're working on like other big publishers are. Last I've seen they've put out nothing about the titles shown at E3. Stuff that's been all over the internet, they claim isn't being shown to them and/or isn't worth their time, just because they're not being given exclusive press material or firsthand previews of them.

Their answer: [t]http://i.imgur.com/cwApufb.jpg[/t] A big fat non-answer.
"The Wii U still lags behind the other current-gen systems in terms of note-worthy titles" Bullshit. You've got Splatoon, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Super smash bros 4, Mario Kart 8, and a crapload of other cool games that are ONLY on Wii U. Not to mention upcoming games like Super Mario Maker and Yoshi's Wooly World. Meanwhile, I can barely think of five "note-worthy" games each for the PS4 and Xbone that aren't just ports of games for other systems or games you could just buy on Steam. I think Game Informer just doesn't wanna admit that games that aren't grimdark can be fun.
In this day and age it's hard to find someone who doesn't go batshit crazy over having their FPS/TPS/racing or sport games on a console.

Hey so I made a old ass thread on it but Iconoclasts is still alive and Konjak is considering putting it on a console from what I hear. I haven't heard much past that but he did post a new trailer and I will take that as a excuse to shill for his game because he is the best indie dev out there in my honest opinion. (He does the music, sprites and programming all by himself so his games have a long production cycle often enough)
Here's a bossfight he put out a short while back. Poke him about getting it on the wii-u and it might happen! (and check out his site, he has a old alpha up as well as his legend of zelda parody )
Glad to see this project is still alive. I'm pretty confident this will be one of the better Metroid style games to come out in years. I forgot how sassy he makes characters too, that guard driving that carver thing is amusing
Are you guys ready to play Kirby 64, my favorite Kirby game of all time, on your Wii U? There's also Squeak Squad and Return to Dreamland, but we all know which one is the best.
God I absolutely love Kirby 64. The combining power-ups concept is just great and there's so much variety in what you can combine. I'm looking forward to replaying it.
