Are you guys ready to play Kirby 64, my favorite Kirby game of all time, on your Wii U? There's also Squeak Squad and Return to Dreamland, but we all know which one is the best.
Fridge powers?
I fucking love Kirby 64.
Fridge powers?
If you didn't know, Crystal Shards had a unique copying mechanic where you could absorb an enemy, then combine that power with another enemy to make a another unique ability. Ice + Electricity = Fridge :v: It really is a shame that this mechanic was never used again. It was so much fun and created some really cool abilities.
Cutter+Rock was always my favorite, along with Electric+Cutter/Sharp, whichever one gave you a Lightsaber.
I have a hard time controlling Kirby in Kirby 64. Maybe the D-Pad on my N64 controller is just bad. I'll have to try the Dream Collection version one of these days.
That reminds me, as anyone ever gotten Bomb+Rock (the dynamite) to work in their favor? It always just ened up blowing in my face and killing me.
I always thought Bomb+Cutter's exploding ninja stars were the coolest thing ever, especially since they stuck to whatever they hit.
remember when japanese game boxes for nintendo games were different shapes then the western ones their gba boxes were longer horizontally while their gb boxes were taller vertically.
This was actually true all the way up to the Gamecube as well. The Japanese and Korean japanese cases tend to be much smaller than the western ones. For reference, if you have a Game Boy Player, the strangely small case it came with is the size of the eastern gamecube cases.
That reminds me, as anyone ever gotten Bomb+Rock (the dynamite) to work in their favor? It's specific to dynamite and is not immediately obvious that it is possible. When used properly, it's actually one of the best mixes in the game due to having the highest damage output of any. You can also move it if you feel you have enough time before detonation by walking into it.

I have a hard time replaying it sometimes just because of how painfully slow it is. [editline]30th July 2015[/editline] That and the lack of hats
the fridge power is so fucking broken. You can infinitely shoot out food items that do good damage AND can be eaten for health. absolutely nuts
I remember Cutter+Cutter being really fucked up.
Cutter+Needle. Loved that giant-ass bear trap.
I remember Cutter+Cutter being really fucked up.
Kirby rips his face off and throws it. When Kirby doesn't have a hat he has to improvise apparently.
The best power without question is Bomb+Fire. Nothing can even come close to the Fireworks ability. Need to jump higher? Spam the Fireworks. Need to kill multiple ennemies at the same time? Use Fireworks. It may be a little worse in water levels 'cause it makes you jump a little, but it also kills everyone close that get close to you, which is pretty much all ennemies in these levels.
Glad to see this project is still alive. I'm pretty confident this will be one of the better Metroid style games to come out in years.
Talking about that, I wish Axiom Verge was on Wii U, it feels weird having the best Metroid game to come out in the last decade not be available on a Nintendo console. [editline]31st July 2015[/editline] Also kinda related, Terraria is coming to the Wii U and 3DS.
I hope Terraria has cross-play with PC, even though it probably won't. I have a few friends who are dying to play it with me but I can't run it on my pc.
Can tell you now it won't. I don't think the wii-u could even handle something like that.
Oh, great. I always hated the console version of Terraria. The game was made for PC in mind. Hopefully with the gamepad we'll be able to build using the stylus or touchscreen instead of awkwardly hoping your intricate designs aren't complex enough to confuse your hammer/block placer.
Can tell you now it won't. I don't think the wii-u could even handle something like that.
No, there's no reason for it to be impossible. It's just very unlikely to happen. I can only think of two examples off the top of my heads of console ports that can play on PC servers, and they're both Valve games.
It would be pretty cool if Terraria 3DS used the bottom screen. Building would be much easier.
Hot damn the Wii U eShop music is mega fucking funky.

Hey just got a wiiu for my 18th birthday, after having never owned a Nintendo console in the past. Anyone got any reccomendations?
Hey just got a wiiu for my 18th birthday, after having never owned a Nintendo console in the past. Anyone got any reccomendations?
Shovel Knight.

Exclusive wise would suggest Mario 3D World and Tropical Freeze as absolute must-haves (especially if you love platformers) MK8 is arguably the best yet and has some of the best DLC of any game ever (roughly 10 bucks to nearly double the base content, it's insane) Smash is fantastic, even if it does have little hitches in it. Wonderful 101 and Bayo if you like technical fast paced action games like DMC 3+4 Honestly anything Nintendo itself put out really is worth looking into. Only games I'd say avoid are obvious ones like Game and Wario and Mario Party 10

Car mode is a little weird but it's still just as fun with friends as the other Mario Party games. Bowser mode is actually super fun as well, and it really justifies the car imo. I've heard Game & Wario is fun with friends too. Of course if you have no friends then don't bother cuz playing it alone isn't fun at all; they're designed for party play. Other than that yeah MK8, Smash, 3D World, Tropical Freeze, Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 1/2 are all good recommendations. Remember that the physical copy of Bayo 2 will include Bayo 1.

It may not be $40 good but it's an alright game. I like the mini-games a lot, and I think they have a fair amount of replay value. With that said, I think you'll be disappointed if you go in playing it and expecting a WarioWare game.
On the topic of Game&WAA, I mainly use it to play Sketch (think digital pictionary) with a few buds of mine. It's lead to some pretty interesting nights. "How the fuck do I draw a Gazebo?"

We all liked the minigames and I admit I never had a full 5 players for bowser mode but when it came to Bowser Mode the koopa king didn't lose a single time in our entire experience with it and none of us really gave a shit during the boardgame mode because the ministars shuffle around for completely arbitrary reasons at the time. Everyone just wanted to play a older MP or just smash or something else entirely. Only mode we really tried to stick with was the Amiibo Party due to my collection but the lack of interesting boards and items killed that pretty damn fast too. Everything is a tech demo really and Nintendoland does that a thousand times better. Only minigame that anyone ever wanted to even touch was Fronks. Pictonary was fun but friends don't care too much about it and I don't like how Sketch floods your miiverse if you try to do the one minute thing.

The problem was the first group was already predisposed about how car mode sucks and how MP10 sucks before they had ever played it. So of course it ended up being not fun :v: The second time I played with the first group I told them to stop being a bunch of asshats and it ended up being fun with them too. Also I play Bowser mode with only two people (including myself) all the time. You can have an NPC bowser or play 1v1 (plus NPCs); either way is still a load of fun. Bowser mode is where car mode really shines, since the people in the car are playing cooperatively.
