You could basically ping a spot by looking at it and pressing a button, and an icon would appear on your partner's screen directing them to it.

I think im definitely getting the NES Remix. I dont really have any interest in the VC games, i already own Super Metroid. Was thinking about Earthbound but i dont know if i will be good at it. Im not very good at those type games. Also im tempted at the Majoras Mask bag and Super Mario 3D Land.

Alright I don't know how many coins you have but my 2cents on Wii-U stuff (and a little 3DS)
NES Remix
I'm not sure if I'd go for this one personally as there's not a awful lot of remixed things in it and the roster of games are alarmingly b-tier. Remix 2 on the otherhand is really good. To make sure you're 100% fine with it highly suggest looking into the game list of 1 beforehand because if you don't like stuff like clu clu land or you're expecting stuff like Kirby you're gonna be let down.
Wonderful 101
I will never shut up about this game, if you have the coins try the demo out and try Chip and Ironicus's LP (first couple episode) as they explain the basics. It's one of those games that is a absolutely confusing mess the first time you play it but as you learn the basics and progress and things start clicking into place it becomes one of if not the best game on the system with one of the most satisfying endings to any video game I've ever seen.
Earthbound
Earthbound is a strange little game that is insanely easy 95% of the time through but that 5% can be brutal. Unfortunately a bit of that 5% is at the very start of the game, but once you clear that hurdle you'll be fine till one certain section in the game that gives everyone trouble and the ending. The battle mechanics once distilled to their purest form are a bit dated but it remains one of the most creative games to this day. I highly, HIGHLY suggest giving it a shot. There's a good chance it'll hook you difficulty or not and make you strongarm the thing.
Yoshi's Island
If you somehow never played it it's a must own, snappy and quick gameplay with super fast platforming and 360 eggshots. Will make you retroactively angry if you played any of the recent Yoshi games for being lame in comparison.
Super Mario 3D Land
Have you played World? It's basically a prototype of that with the unfortunate side effect that the first half of the game is sleepwalk easy. It feels like super mario bros 3 without the ton of suits and in 3D actually because everything is bite sized. That being said the second half of the game gets really creative by handing you a second character (you'll NEVER guess who) and giving you level challenges that are similar to those found in the galaxy series with stuff like shadow clones or speedrun levels. It's really really good.
Kid Icarus: Uprising
Sakurai's babby. Way too much to fit in a simple breakdown. That man put all his heart into this thing and it shows, the levels are varied, the settings are outstanding and man everything about it is just good. There's a single complaint about it I'd levy and that's the fact Pit doesn't have a walking animation, he kinda gallops for some reason and in a handful of levels it's easy to gallop right into a pit but for how good literally everything else is it's easy to overlook. I don't know how active the online is these days but 100% suggest it.
As for the tote bag, mentioned earlier but apparently they fall apart really easy. The Pikmin one ended up in shreds for a lot of people due to how flimsy they are.
I can vouch on the Messenger bags being Flimsy. Ordered a Star bag a couple years back, and it pretty much just died on me after like 3-4 months.

Yeah i played 3D Land when it came out and sold it back after half way through it. Now that i palyed 3D World and loved it, i want to give it another shot. Wonderful 101 demo was pretty fun but yeah the controls were kinda difficult. Im probably going to look up Earthbound stuff and might shoot for that. So many choices, i cant decide but thanks though.
One thing I forgot to mention under w101, it'll tell you to draw shapes and there's a thing where you can draw on the gamepad to do so but don't do that, use the other stick if you go that route. It's a fun novelty to draw with the stylus but the game wasn't built for it (on the hardest difficulty it's pretty much impossible to win/play if you try it because it just isn't supposed to work like that)
yeah when i first played 3d land i really enjoyed but was like its a bit too easy.
[sp]then after i finished it i was thinking ok probably will have a world 9 oh boy yes it did and 10 and 11 and so on that was a real nice surprise and gave the kind of challenge i was looking for and basically delivered above and beyond what i wanted excellent game[/sp]
Do the new digital games on Club Nintendo give you coins? I've gotten coins from digital games on CN in the past but I haven't gotten a survey from Wonderful 101 or Yoshi's Island so I assume these don't. Or maybe it's just CN being slow.

I've gotten surveys in the past from CN rewards, but could have changed since it's shutting down.
Oh well. I'll buy Wind Waker and Bayonetta 2 before April so that should be enough for me to reach Platinum.
So I'll have platinum (for the first [and last, I guess] time) once the Club Nintendo website stays up long enough for me to register Mario Kart 8. What are the rewards for hitting platinum?

I believe those rewards are shown near the end of the year, but I could be wrong.

Well, my Wii got fixed. Turns out I just needed the Disk Drive replaced.

So this got announced in Japan, no word on it coming stateside just yet though.
has anybody elses wiiu gamepad had the buttons stop working? does this affect many people
[editline]5th February 2015[/editline]
happened to my friend and she hasn't broken it or anything it just happened. i'm wondering if we can put the ownness on nintendo to fix it free of charge since it's a faulty product and not consumer breakage.
back when i didn't have a pro controller, stick clicks on my gamepad simply stopped working in black ops 2
Does anyone know if when you get a game with coins from Club Nintendo, you can then receive registration coins from it? I'm 70 short and one of my codes is refusing to work, and I'm realizing my Smash 3DS didn't have a code in it.
Should we expect the Majora's Mask DLC to hit around 4 AM Est? I think that's when the last Hyrule Warriors DLC came around.

You do get to do the coin survey. I got 40 coins for Paper Mario Sticker Star.
