Speaking of Metroid, you know what would be awesome to see if Retro Studios was able to make the next 3D one? A remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus. It'd be amazing to see Alpha, Gamma, Zeta and Omega Metroids in HD.
Yeah, he directed those games. That doesn't make him able to shit gold, he is still human and his criteria may be wrong. Metroid II would be great to be remade for 3DS or something, up to Zero Mission/Super/Fusion standards. A new game with the classical Metroid lifecycle would be great tho.

So Retro Studios is James Cameron, Prime is Aliens, and Other M is Prometheus? I can run with that.
"I think the film Alien had a huge influence on the production of the first Metroid game. All of the team members were affected by HR Giger's design work, and I think they were aware that such designs would be a good match for the Metroid world we had already put in place." - Sakamoto
Well, when the most important villian is a winged, fire-breathing xenomorph named Ridley (who is not that big), I'd say the influence is clear. The Metroids are also quite similar to the xenos, complete with an impressive queen and the newly hatched form being the most deadly.
It was fucking ridiculous that even Sakurai went "Ridley is too big." ????? He has as much size range as fucking Bowser.
Decided on the 2013 poster set, now to just wait 2-5 months. Mostly picked it because of the awesome Pikmin poster. [t]http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130611232314/pikmin/images/9/9b/Pikmin_3_Models.jpg[/t]
That poster is pretty life sized
That poster is pretty life sized
Not sure what happened to it, it shrank from the time I posted it for some reason. Here's another version that hopefully won't shrink. [t]http://imguol.com/c/entretenimento/2013/06/12/pikmin-3-1371045585512_1920x1080.jpg[/t]
It was fucking ridiculous that even Sakurai went "Ridley is too big." ????? He has as much size range as fucking Bowser.
Ridley has big-ass limbs and appendages. Unless you were doing him based on his original Metroid appearance, it really isn't feasible.
so club nintendo is glitching out for me in the best possible way i have 490 technically, but it didn't subtract any coins when i went to get earthbound and golden sun. going to see if i can get more download codes. [editline]7th February 2015[/editline] never mind, it seems there must be a system separate from the website's frontend to keep track of coins. wario keeps showing up
Ridley has big-ass limbs and appendages. Unless you were doing him based on his original Metroid appearance, it really isn't feasible.
It is quite feasible, but requires decent knowledge of anatomy; the hindlimbs are quite birdlike, while the forelimbs and spine are apelike. It is not a blob with stubby limbs or a humanoid character, so it is an actual challenge to properly implement. And I for one would like that. The Zero Mission Ridley, with its head and autopods scaled down to 80% of their original size, looks far less awkward and close to the Prime proportions, as seen in my previous link. A slight size ajustment (like Bowser, Ganondorf, the Pokemon...) would get him into Smash size range.
Hey how about we don't drag this thread into Ridley chat Specifically Ridley in smash chat I mean.
It's just, every time it comes up, the side that says he's 'too big' just seems so shortsighted. I mean, he can be as big as however the fuck he wants to be.
It's just, every time it comes up, the side that says he's 'too big' just seems so shortsighted. I mean, he can be as big as however the fuck he wants to be.
People act like he's had radical scale changes like Bowser though and it's not true. Bowser has ranged to smaller than Mario (Galaxy 2) to Japanese Monster Movie size while Ridley was Samus size in 1 and then getting progressively bigger/longer every game but with most of them pretty close to the same size. Hell Bowser is even stated to have some kind of weird ass size altering power if Galaxy is anything to go by so that comparison is flat out null.
The funny thing is not the size of ridley, but wanting ridley in the first place. Sorry guys I don't want a charizard clone
Doubt it'd be the case. The clones in Smash 4 were built as alternate skins then modified. And there's more to a dragon than Bowser's neutral B and headbutting a rock. Reach, tail sweetspoting and aerial game, at the cost of close range combat and ground game could be a feasible moveset. Lets see how Project M handles it first. Also, fluctuating size in home series, but not by much, and your average Ridley only needs a small ajustment of its overall size to be comparable to Smash Bowser relative to Samus: Those arguments are not good. Sakurai not getting the feel for a moveset, well, that one I can understand. Not sharing it, but still easier to understand. But first, Metroid U. Hoping to see a 3D Kraid while we are at it. And good music.
Has Kraid been in any game other then the original or remake? He's brought up a ton but I don't recall him being anywhere else.
He is in super metroid too if I recall, and was supposed to be in metroid prime but that idea got scrapped.
Super Metroid (that's where modern Kraid in all his huge glory debuted), and concepts for Prime as Meta Kraid.
Now if Ridley is 2big4smash, Kraid is just too big full stop.
The funny thing is not the size of ridley, but wanting ridley in the first place. Sorry guys I don't want a charizard clone
nobody wants clones, they want more unique characters charizard != ridley ?????
Sorry guys I don't want a charizard clone
You mean Peach clone, right? [editline]7th February 2015[/editline] fucking automerge
TBH Wolfesque characters, where you have a whole different character whose specials tematically parallels another from the same franchise, would be quite interesting. Wario would be better if he had his own A-moves and specials reminiscent of Mario's but different in all that matters, rather than giving him a random moveset, at least in my opinion.
Wario would be better if he had his own A-moves and specials reminiscent of Mario's but different in all that matters, rather than giving him a random moveset, at least in my opinion.
what did you doooooooooooooooooooo
I may not have worded it correctly: I'd rather have Wario clad in his overalls, and with his tilts, aerials and smashes, but, I would enjoy his special moveset if it felt like trying to beat Mario at his own game. Say, a neutral B being a Mario Land-esque Power Ball and a down B that involves spinning, rather than chomping and farting respectively. Of course, the optimal would be a Wario Land moveset, but that parallel would be in-character for Wario (whose debut involved being able to use Mario's powers), and truer to character than the one he has at the moment.
All his smash attacks are Mario's anyway with a bizarre twist. Upsmash Mario aims his head for a strike, Wario's head grows big and cartoony and smashes forward Sidesmash Mario aims a bit of fire with his palm, Wario just balls his fist up for a giant punch Downsmash Mario spins around for a sweeping kick, Wario just spins around. Also Wario is true to his character in the Wario Ware games, sooner you come to grips with it the better. His final smash is Wario Ware, all his series trophies are Wario Ware, his personality is Wario Ware, his emblem is Wario Ware, his default outfit is Wario Ware, everything is WW. You can lament that he's not Land inspired but he's not being unfaithful to WW
I'm almost certain Wario's Upsmash is based off of Wario World. In WW after the first initial two hits in a jab, Wario's head grows really big and swings forward for the 3rd hit, almost exactly like his Upsmash.
Playing as Young Link in Hyrule Warriors is making me wish that the Majora's Mask remake was made for the Wii U instead. Imagine how much better it would look if it was on the Wii U and not the 3DS.
