should I just get it?
Yeah
clicked "Order reward"
guess I'll just wait? Wonder when it'll come.
It's kinda shitty that the gamepad can't be recognized as a classic controller. I had to dig up my old one just to play the n64 games.

There should've been a download code on-screen after you confirmed your order. If you didn't see it, just wait a few hours until you get the e-mail.

From what I understand, it literally cannot be recognized as one- even hackers, who've delved deep enough to get the pro controller working in wii mode, say that the gamepad is impossible to do so with.
I think it'd be neat if you could stream 3DS games to the Wii U. It'd make it a help of a lot easier to record 3DS footage that way as well.
Playing as Young Link in Hyrule Warriors is making me wish that the Majora's Mask remake was made for the Wii U instead. Imagine how much better it would look if it was on the Wii U and not the 3DS.
The original majora's mask is already on the wii u though.
TBH Wolfesque characters, where you have a whole different character whose specials tematically parallels another from the same franchise, would be quite interesting. Wario would be better if he had his own A-moves and specials reminiscent of Mario's but different in all that matters, rather than giving him a random moveset, at least in my opinion.
That is what Wario's always been about, after all. In some ways an inversion and in others an exaggeration of Mario. Wario Land was this to Mario's platformers, Wario Ware was this to Mario's crazy tidal wave of spinoff games throughout the 2000s.

What the fuck were the hardware designers thinking with that one.
They should have just left the Gamecube ports on the Wii U, would have been a lot easier to play VC games because everyone has a Gamecube controller. We have the adapter...but oh wait they only want it to work in smash.
Seriously, make the GC controllers work with more games, they are already profiting from the adapter and the reissued controllers anyway.
The original majora's mask is already on the wii u though.
I believe the point he's making is that a remake on the Wii U would look amazing because of less hardware limitations.
It's a colossal wonder how the same man who managed to create Super Metroid, one of the greatest games to be conceived, also made Other M.
If memory serves right. Sakamoto wanted God awful shoe horned story elements in super Metroid as well. It's just the rest of them was present to keep his crazy ass in check.
Whereas in other M they just let him go full retard

So basically Sakamoto is the Japanese George Lucas.
Auteur licenses are a big deal over there as well.

There's been word of the opposite happening, as files within the 3DS system (or I think the n3ds) point to being able to stream Wii U games to the handheld. Would be really neat, I'd say.

Would be nice I guess but I still want a better way to stream 3DS games; the only way I know besides webcamming it is paying someone to mod your 3ds with the ability to record ingame footage, which is is gonna be obsolete anyway with the new 3ds almost here.

Got it
fuck yeah

need a classic controller
so many controllers!
So basically Sakamoto is the Japanese George Lucas.
I think that fits. More so than calling Sakurai the Japanese George Lucas (I fucking hate it when people make that comparison).

I heard it used only on Aonuma because of the small as fuck MM3D changes
The original majora's mask is already on the wii u though.
is it?! did i miss something?
is it?! did i miss something?
They're probably talking about the version on the Wii shop.
oh, right
emulating on a emulator
To be honest, they are wasting potential by not releasing more virtual console games, specially Gamecube games for the Wii U, or GBA games for the 3DS. They are easy as fuck to make and people would buy them. But no, remakes and WiiWare.
Can't quite agree with that route. Halfway through the Wii's lifespan, they decided to drop VC support pretty much, and I just cannot understand it.
It's hard to strike a balance with how the VC system should be handled.
A lot of people complained about the price of games, but when if you think about it paying £5 to enjoy a SNES game that would be nearly impossible to obtain physically for a reasonable price. Yet you could just emulate the game on your PC for a price tag of nothing, so what should Nintendo be adding to the VC experience to make it worth the purchase? What about games you can't add to VC due to wacky-hardware configurations on the original console or licensing issues? How do you appease people who feel as if their tastes aren't being adhered to? What about regional differences? Some games are completely different depending on the region. Should you give access to all previous regional versions? That might cause a shitfit with different rating boards. What about releasing a game that was never released in that region originally? Whats the point if those people never got to experience the game back in the day, surely there must be no demand for it?
I feel as if Nintendo never wanted VC to be a big thing. They just wanted to be able to resell some games they made 6+ years ago. They never anticipated that people would want to drop PC emulation or console-modding for actually paying for old games. Why they don't release GBA games on the 3DS is beyond me, as its currently sitting as a limited bonus for people who bought the console when it didn't have any games.
[editline]8th February 2015[/editline]
If people can mod the console to be able to play Gamecube games natively, Nintendo has no excuse as to why they wouldn't be able to sell Gamecube VC, especially with the GC adapter that can (unsurprisingly) be used by said Gamecube games natively. Unless it does link back into wanting to be able to use the Gamepad for everything and making it work like a GC controller is impossible due to their own pants-on-head retarded hardware designers.

[editline]8th February 2015[/editline]
Thinking about it, given the wacky shit we can already do with the Gamepad, its only when the console is in Wii Mode that the Gamepad can't be properly utilized. I really would doubt that Nintendo would be so stupid as to limit themselves in that way, so its something that must be able to happen.
Steam made game piracy go down, Spotify made music piracy go down, Netflix made TV piracy go down.
It isn't rocket science. A cheap product offered in a easy to buy and legal way will sell.
But Nintendo has trouble comprehending that costumer dynamics do not always correlate with their plans. They make games meant to last a console generation, but once a new gen is there, they want you to buy the newer games, and may thing that having access to older games may mean the newer ones won't get sales.
And that is wrong.

It might make sense if they have a small team of people play through games 100% to make sure nothing breaks, but that seems unlikely. They'd be sitting on a goldmine if they released an extensive catalog of VC games on the cheap, like $2.50 for 2d games and $5 for 3d games, but complaining about it won't accomplish much.
What I wouldn't give for a copy of Path of Radiance that doesn't cost $100+...
It's also nice being able to show your support for different games that got released in the past.
I don't believe there is a single Treasure game I don't own that is available on VC. And despite already having completed Earthbound many times, I still bought the VC version.
I bought Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion and Metroid Prime Trilogy (despite owning the CD). The lack of Zero Mission outside of Japan is a damn shame and doesn't make any sense.
