what do you mean by this?
It was the original Ambassador scheme, where due to the very slow release of games at the start of 3DS's life, people who bought the console were awarded a buttload of GBA games in Virtual Console format. There is no other way to get GBA games on the 3DS.
thats quite silly to not let us get them now then
Steam made game piracy go down, Spotify made music piracy go down, Netflix made TV piracy go down. It isn't rocket science. A cheap product offered in a easy to buy and legal way will sell. But Nintendo has trouble comprehending that costumer dynamics do not always correlate with their plans. They make games meant to last a console generation, but once a new gen is there, they want you to buy the newer games, and may thing that having access to older games may mean the newer ones won't get sales. And that is wrong.
they always go one step forward one step sideways
The lack of Zero Mission outside of Japan is a damn shame and doesn't make any sense.
Agreed. I don't know what Nintendo is waiting on to release it on the Wii U for the rest of the world. I still don't know what to get for the Club Nintendo prizes. The Messenger bag looks very nice but the black-on-black killed it for me since you can barely see the design.
Ambassador master race right here!
thats quite silly to not let us get them now then
True, but it does feel special if your an Ambassador, like me.
It's still forced exclusivity for the sake of nothing. Is there any real reason to not release them? The Ambassador's still got them for free.
What I truly believe is Nintendo is putting all there eggs in the WiiU basket because one day the next Handheld will share the same eshop VC service, making it all available. At least I hope. They better not fuck it up like they did with the Wii to WiiU, (starting all over again with nothing)

Do you guys know if there's any way to use wii brew to get the console to allow me to play the games that require a classic controller without using one? I said that poorly, basically I'm asking if there's any way to play the wii VC games without a classic controller.
It's hard to strike a balance with how the VC system should be handled. A lot of people complained about the price of games, but when if you think about it paying £5 to enjoy a SNES game that would be nearly impossible to obtain physically for a reasonable price. Yet you could just emulate the game on your PC for a price tag of nothing, so what should Nintendo be adding to the VC experience to make it worth the purchase? What about games you can't add to VC due to wacky-hardware configurations on the original console or licensing issues? How do you appease people who feel as if their tastes aren't being adhered to? What about regional differences? Some games are completely different depending on the region. Should you give access to all previous regional versions? That might cause a shitfit with different rating boards. What about releasing a game that was never released in that region originally? Whats the point if those people never got to experience the game back in the day, surely there must be no demand for it? I feel as if Nintendo never wanted VC to be a big thing. They just wanted to be able to resell some games they made 6+ years ago. They never anticipated that people would want to drop PC emulation or console-modding for actually paying for old games. Why they don't release GBA games on the 3DS is beyond me, as its currently sitting as a limited bonus for people who bought the console when it didn't have any games. [editline]8th February 2015[/editline] If people can mod the console to be able to play Gamecube games natively, Nintendo has no excuse as to why they wouldn't be able to sell Gamecube VC, especially with the GC adapter that can (unsurprisingly) be used by said Gamecube games natively. Unless it does link back into wanting to be able to use the Gamepad for everything and making it work like a GC controller is impossible due to their own pants-on-head retarded hardware designers. digital triggers ;~; [editline]8th February 2015[/editline] Thinking about it, given the wacky shit we can already do with the Gamepad, its only when the console is in Wii Mode that the Gamepad can't be properly utilized. I really would doubt that Nintendo would be so stupid as to limit themselves in that way, so its something that must be able to happen.
The problem with the Virtual Console is that Nintendo is hell-bent on using the dripfeed system to slowly feed new games to users on a weekly basis. This falls short on two different levels: the games "dripped" in happen at such a slow rate that the benefits (being able to see a new game that you may have not considered buying before), don't happen when people stop paying attention due to a lack of titles, and they have far too many titles (let alone adding in 3rd parties) for this system to make their library fully fleshed out in a generation. Another issue is the pricing. While I could see the perspective that discs are easier to rip and sell, is there any reasonable premise for NES and Master System games being $5 each (ESPECIALLY games like Urban Champion, Baseball, Volleyball and Pinball) when Sony's Playstation Network sells PS1 games for $6 and PS2 games for $10? Using Sony's strategy as a reference, it would seem more reasonable to have NES games range from $3 to $5 (depending on the game), SNES games be $5, N64 games be $6-$8 and Gamecube games be $10 and would probably result in more sales if they did. It's also worth mentioning that they have successfully sold Japan-import titles on the virtual console (heck, the demand and selling of Sin & Punishment: Successor to Earth on the virtual console prompted the development of the second title: Sin & Punishment: Star Successor on the Wii); considering how well that sold, it's quite baffling that not only do they not try to translate some of their other games for the service, but also don't even release the ones that don't have anything to translate. In addition, the Japan Virtual Console tends to get far more of Nintendo's own IPs than the west does, up to and including some of their rarer titles (including two that were originally for the Bandai Satellaview), so the only real excuse for the lack of Nintendo games on the Virtual Console is that they just don't care, Nintendo of America in particular (still no Golden Sun: Lost Age, Donkey Kong Country trilogy, Donkey Kong Land trilogy or DS titles on the Wii U when Japan and Europe got those in 2014)
There is no excuse for 3DS not having SNES games available. I would buy the DKC trilogy instantly.
Speaking of the DKC trilogy, will it ever come back in NA ?
Speaking of the DKC trilogy, will it ever come back in NA ?
wait they still haven't released it for you guys? sorry to hear that its been here for months now
When I bought Hyrule Warriors, I thought I'd get bored of it after a few missions but I clocked so many hours and I still can't get enough of it. Mario Kart 8 barely held me interested and Smash Bros isn't the same without inviting others over to slap each other. It's weird how a game that is deemed by many to be repetitive and boring is quite fun for me. It's weirdly addictive. Note aside, having a Rupee+ skill with a Rupee Festival Mixture on the lvl12 Rack Your KOs (Master Quest) mission hits up to 50,000+ just in kills. Screw the Reward maps. The new potions are overkill and I like it!
Man i would get that mayflash 4 port gamecube adapter they released recently. I bought it last month, and it camed here last week, and it works flawlessly
With regards to the VC topic, I've just accepted that Nintendo is terrible with business ideas and can't understand how to utilize their potential at all. They're good at making games, that's it. The wii u is still a flop and its no surprise considering how they did their marketing and naming of the product. They also continue to not add key features that a console should have like dvd playback or like with VC, not realize they could make an HD remake of so many n64/gamecube/wii games.
They also continue to not add key features that a console should have like dvd playback
They aren't going for a be-all-end-all multimedia device with their consoles, they're making first and foremost a game console. It'd be a moot point anyway because the current movie format is bluray, meaning you'd need a separate player for the latest movies, which means you could just play DVDs on that dedicated device.
Its still stupid that Nintendo spent all the Wii years putting together this huge library of games across multiple systems (nes, snes, 64, turbo, and sega games i think).....then throw it all in the trash with the WiiU and start over. We still dont have 64 games and they barely put out new games. Nintendo is pretty bad at business sometimes.

I imagine if a thousand people went up to whoever's in charge of the VC and told them reality you'd either get "b-but our marketers say this" or "shut up we know best you're stupid what do you know".
They're all accessible from Wii mode on the Wiiu. all of them.
Which is very inconvenient to pull out a wiimote every time to play a game and wait for the wii menu to load. And even with the games that can be transfered to the wii u (like LOZ:link to the past), you have to pay a 1.50 if you already own it on the wii.

So Nintendo tried to buy the game and film rights to Harry Potter in 1998:
