Happens with many characters in Japanese games or comics. Either very young body characters will an old age or older looking ones with younger age (JoJo Bizzare Adventure comes to mind. I think it was more people trying to explain cultural differences than vehemently defending sexualization of child characters in video games. They're not trying to invalidate someone's feelings, just trying to explain why the representation exists and why it makes sense [I]elsewhere[/I].

You gain 6 more difficult bonus levels, a remake of Mario Bros. and the Yoshi's Story Yoshi voice samples at the cost of poorer music quality, different sound effects (i.e. the Shy Guys say hei-hoo and Kamek has different sound effects . . . . . except oddly he uses ones from the SNES title in the ending), the 6 original extra levels were altered, no multiplayer Yoshi's Island minigames, lower resolution, weaker special effects and a more linear map screen.
Aesthetically, red and pink Yoshi were swapped around so that they matched their map sprites, which were mistakenly switched around in the SNES version, and the shoes that the Yoshis have match the colors given to each in Yoshi's Story.

Biggest concern from the two music samples I have right now is how drastically different they are. They're both great ass songs and I love them but Grant's sounds like it's in the n64 era while David's sounds super advanced further like in Tropical Freeze. Hope they don't clash too much in practice.
