More likely than not it's gonna give you an unrelated game. It's all random.

Gamepad only and 720p, oh well I bet it's still fun.

Well I'm glad Nintendo isn't trying to hide it anymore.
I was hoping there would be an option to at least use the Pro Controller, why are you doing this Nintendo??
i think it's because some of the game features require the gamepad screen

so does this mean we'll be getting doritos and mountain dew sponsorship?
[editline]7th May 2015[/editline]
I just downloaded the demo but it won't let me do anything because the testfire hasn't started yet.
So they couldn't give us the option to play in single player and try the game out on the very first map?
Kind of a weird decision.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, on page 3 it states they will be more DLC coming to Mario Kart 8.

Note this was filed in March. It might be just referring to Pack 2
watching the splatoon direct, This narrator has voiced Jack Skellington at some point, Maybe in a KH game or something I just know it.
The Splatoon post-game support seems nice, but I feel like the custom matchmaking options should already be in the game.
The Splatoon post-game support seems nice, but I feel like the custom matchmaking options should already be in the game.
I feel like a lot of it should be in the game to begin with, then the experimental/community stuff and extra maps can come later.
As people said earlier, this is shaping up to be a good game but bare on content
Went to the eShop to nab the demo, and hot damn, this Rainbow Curse music is jammin' as fuck.

that would be great considering how good the previous lot was, C'mon proper battlemode
that would be great considering how good the previous lot was, C'mon proper battlemode
I really hate it when people say that, because it makes me think people saying that the entirety of battle mode (both stage wise and mechanics wise) need fixing, even though really, all that needs to be done is just have stages specifically made for battle mode (like what was done in previous Mario Karts).
For those who missed it.

heh, the arrow in the thumbnail is a squid, cute
I'm pretty pumped for this game, it looks like tons of fun. I'm at work and haven't had a chance to watch the direct yet, tho.
The fact that the demo is only playable for one day sucks. I was expecting some sort of singleplayer mission.
Some people are thinking this is a server stress test, that's why it's limited. Hence the "Testfire".
They want the servers to work at launch.
Best part of the direct:

Also, I wonder if Smash costume DLC will become a new trend for preorder bonuses.
I'm so happy that this demo is coming out on my birthday! I have a splatoon shirt and pre-ordered the amiibos and game. Been waiting since e3, and i'm glad that i'll have a chance at having fun on normally the most loud day of the year for me. (No worries. i love some noise.)
I really do want to see a 3rd DLC for Mario Kart 8 that focuses on battle mode. I'm satisfied with the cup tracks, but battle mode still is highly lacking.
My dream future DLC pack would be as follows:
DLC #3:
Adds the following modes:
Classic Battle (each character has 3 balloons. The match time can be customized, but the default online is 3 minutes. Opponents that are wiped out become bombs on wheels that can take out other opponents. The winner is whoever has the most balloons at the end, though in the last minute, the people with the most balloons get worse items than ones with only one or two.)
Shine Thief (works like in double dash, including the amount of time available)
Bob-Omb Blast (works similarly to in Double Dash, however, the goal is now to get as many points as possible within a time limit instead of a fixed amount)
Coin Runners (works similarly to Shine Runners and Coin Runners, where it is an elimination style game. Coins as an item are disabled for obvious, game-breaking reasons.)
Adds the following 8 Battle Mode courses. You can choose online whether to use the default battle tracks, the new battle arenas or both.
SNES Battle Course 2 (Beach. Water pools are now easily accessible and have tunnels connecting each other underneath the main part of the stage)
N64 Double Deck (Red and pink levels of the original are now inverted so that you can see the light green and dark green levels from above)
GBA Battle Course 2 (Bowser's Castle)
GCN Luigi's Mansion (relatively unchanged)
NDS Tart Top (Launch section now is a glider, allowing you to fly and bomb people from above)
Wii Block Plaza (Shrunk down a bit so that it is only about 50% larger than Block Fort was in Mario Kart 64)
3DS Wuhu Town
Carnival Ball (Based off of circus attractions with motorcycles, all of the characters battle inside a giant steel ball with antigravity enabled.)
Characters Added:
-Bowser Jr (Tanooki Mario weight)
-King Boo (cruiserweight)
-Petey Piranha (heavyweight)
-Diddy Kong (lightweight)
-Birdo (mediumweight with Yoshi)
-Captain Falcon (heavyweight, due to the speed perks)
New Free DLC mode: Backwards tracks. New ramps and warps are placed to allow users to race on all race tracks in reverse. Accessed in Grand Prix / VS by pressing a button at the cup selection screen, similar to how in Mario Kart: Super Circuit, the shoulder buttons flipped the MKSC cups to the SMK cups.
Free Features: Adds Giant Bananas, Bowser Shells, Fake Item Boxes, Boos and POW Blocks (unlike in Mario Kart Wii, POW Blocks no longer make you lose items, so doing a stunt at the end of the POW Block results in a relatively minimal loss of speed) to the item roulette.
Would just be happy with a solid battle DLC only, though.
I still would like a Pokemon themed pack for a Mario Kart dlc, much like the Animal Crossing and Legend of Zelda themes.
A Metroid or a Star Fox track would be dope.
So do you guys think Nintendo is going to be the thing that replaces Marvel at Universal Studios?
So do you guys think Nintendo is going to be the thing that replaces Marvel at Universal Studios?
Yeah, I definitely think it's related. I doubt Disney will allow the Marvel rights to get renewed and nothing else has really come up as seeming like a plausible successor.
Is Splatoon really a full priced $60 game in the US? I heard somebody say that but here it's 38 euro which is less than most first party 3DS games.

It is $59.99 here in the eShop, yes.
Is Splatoon really a full priced $60 game in the US? I heard somebody say that but here it's 38 euro which is less than most first party 3DS games.
It's only 38€ il you play the demo though, is it?We're reaching a point where Nintendo actually make sweet deals on the eShop but I still want physical copies of the game. But I know those fuckin stores are gonna sell the game for a solid 60 bucks so that's out of the question. I don't really want to but I may have to buy the game digital, it's about a third of the original price we're talking about here.
Random talk but there's also the fact that the game gets a Limited Edition with an exclusive amiibo, and that unlocks bonus challenges and exclusive gear if I got it right, and I'm not sure I agree with that. Then again, timed exclusives aren't a new thing (hello TF2) but it's a bit more than that this time, because it unlocks gameplay too.
Guess I didn't know this at first, but the poll thing changes for Splatoon for the different regions. North America is cats vs dogs, Europe is pop vs rock, and Japan is rice vs bread. :v:
