Like I could go splattershot or the other one and take care of a roller... but there's 3 more across the map making way more coverage then me and my paint would just sail past them and seeing how they just have to starman into me it's no question.
If you're getting run into by a roller you're not being aware enough of your surroundings. You can swim away to get distance or even a better vantage point if your team has enough coverage.
Not that it's anything to gauge by, Splatoon had roughly 20,000 people watching.
My hightest was 999pts. Jr and Roller are definitely my favorites too.
That hour was pure fun. Really looking for this game, but i'm still a bit miffed about that 4 hours rotation and waiting for the rest of the free content. But whatever i had fun :D
I wish more games let you play an arcade game while waiting for matchmaking.
That was just pure fun, another great game to add to my Wii U collection.

Oh I know, it was easy to use the range attack the roller has on other roller users to get rid of them. But consider the fact you have to retreat from them just moving at you (and covering more ground) you're not really accomplishing a lot. The demo is a LOT of fun but yeah, the roller is in dire needs of a slight nerf

Kind of curious, is it possible to switch the camera controls so it doesn't use the gamepad motion at all and just the right analog stick, or is that not changeable?

You only have to retreat if you let them get close enough to you or even notice you at all considering you can hide in your paint. The disadvantage to the roller is that it's useless beyond a couple of metres and you can't really shoot-swim-repeat with it either.

Yeah you can turn it off.
Netcode is also probably the best Nintendo has ever done. It's so silky smooth.
Good to hear. I was worried after Smash that it would be impossible to play with 90% of people due to Australia, but it seems they've used some of the black magic netcode that MK8 and MH4U use.
Roller seems like it'll be the usual vs mode thing that appears op at first, but levels out with everything else one everyone figures out the nitty gritty.
It's obviously the best at painting floors fast, but painting walls with it is a chore and it's essentially a melee weapon when fighting others. Painting walls is definitely going to be an important thing once more people notice the areas obviously intended to be painted and traveled up on to paint higher things/ambush from above, and I was already encountering other people who could chew up Rollers in any situation besides them sneaking around and steamrolling them from behind.
Does this game support Pro Controller?

You can change the controls if you press + on the title screen.
I turned that off after my first match but I ended up turning it back on, it's surprisingly really intuitive.
The Roller can be taken care of similarly to the Pyro in TF2.
Distance. Plus, they seem to slow down when rolling so retreating by swimming gives you the edge to aim and shut them down.
Though watch out for corners. It is an ambush weapon.

I never tried but I can't see why not.

I remember reading somewhere that it does work.
Apparently you can only use other controllers in the local 1v1 mode, seeing as how you wouldn't have to tap on the screen because you have no teammates.
So I played the demo and it was really fun.
On one round I saw a guy named "Kawaii P.", which made me think of KawaiiPiranha the animator, but I doubted it was him.
Once the demo time ended I went to his stream and saw that he left VOD of himself playing the Splatoon demo.

I wish there was a better way to see how much ink you have left. Most of the time I just thought "I've been shooting for a good 20 seconds, I'm probably pushing it..."

I think that's where the Color Lock option will come in handy. You will be able to lock in a color that you will be able to distinguish. Both for you and the enemy.
Color blind friendly game!

It's more than that. My wifi is shit and I'm just only able to play 1vs1 in Smash with no lag with people from Europe, but here I've been able to play full matches with people from everywhere around the world without the game lagging once. It's like a dream.
Did i miss out on playing demo or something i keep getting maintenance message when i try and start the game.
You missed it by 3 hours.

The first demo hour is over. Next one is 7am EST (5 hours from now) and the last one is 3pm EST.
I wonder if they will announce more testfires over the course of the next weeks. This is basically server stress tests so release goes nice and smooth.
*Whoops, forgot there's an actual Yooka-Laylee thread*
On splatoon, I think the best team makeup is 1 roller, 1 sniper and 2 splatters. The roller basically fills in around the splatters who lead the charge, and the sniper tries to get behind play or into covered spots to shoot from. Managed to get 7 kills as the sniper while our team took over 70% of the surface. Roller only seems OP at the moment because no one knows what they're doing yet. Vital support role in covering ground but without good firing support there's not much it can do. Sniper's also good for creating straight paths from behind play and cutting off enemy movement, but struggles badly when caught up close against a roller or a splatter. Once people learn how to play better and support their teammates we'll see that the balance is actually pretty good. One glaring issue with this is that you just have to hope you get matched with a team using a good variety, as you can't even choose a weapon ingame and the teams are assigned randomly.
Another session starts in about 10 minutes unless I'm mistaken
Oh boy, next Splatoon test is in 10 minutes.
I missed the last one, glad I just finished downloading so I can hop in and try it out. I've been hearing it's pretty good.
Paint Roller is ridiculous if you let them go loose and not pursue them.
Any of you guys played with the treehouse guys (the lab coat inkling)?
am i the only one who likes the motion controls
also splattershot jr owns roller teams
