God, the ending is trash. Hope this game can at least be redeemed with mods for the PC version.

I'll make you eat those words!
Also I firmly believe that in terms of the main series, Infinite is [sp]one of the most stupidly pointless antagonists in the franchise. He exists solely to be an antagonistic wall that no one can overcome until the endgame, but repeatedly lets Sonic and the Avatar live even when Eggman tells him why that's a bad idea, and the very things he says would never happen then happen and he goes "HOW CAN THIS BE?" It's fucking hilariously stupid how he's played completely straight as some super edgy antagonist and then fucks that up.[/sp]
[sp]Really disappointed that Nakamura learned nothing with Mephiles then since Infinite's design is actually really solid. On top of that, the bullet hell nature of his fights and how he can make those really freaky constructs of himself in Metropolis aren't nearly as played up as they should be.[/sp]

I'm okay with this.
Also, fuck yeah, [sp]All Hail Shadow[/sp]

I've been trying to avoid spoilers, but [sp]did Shadow's voice change a bit? I think it's the same voice actor they've been using since the last recast, but he sounds slightly different in this clip than he has lately.[/sp]

I'm trying to avoid spoilers and this is the hardest thing not to click on.

I'll say this much: it solves one of my main gripes I was going to have with Forces.
I'm tempted to give Lost World a shot while waiting for Forces.
I know it doesn't exactly have the best reputation but I try to give everything a go at least once.
And if it's truly bad then maybe it'll lower my bar before Forces. :v:
Lost World isn't bad. It's just a bit of a strange entry.
Sonic Forces isn't even out yet and it's gotten a 1.01 patch. That's right, a pre-release patch. Added support for the Shadow DLC and future avatar clothes, because you know there's money to be made there, but it also added future support for.. Super Sonic???
Also it made it so Modern Sonic and Classic Sonic can pick up rings after taking hits instead of losing them all. Not sure why they changed that so soon after the game got leaked after having it that way the whole time up to intended release. Almost as stupid as Lost World not giving you an extra life for every 100 rings until it was patched in post-release.

Nothing wrong with this.

I know, it's just kind of the principle of it. Does it mean they were lazy about changing something, that they realized it wouldn't fly over well with players, or what?

Maybe they will patch back drifting as well.
Maybe they will patch back drifting as well.
Doubt it. The level design was made without drifting in mind, i've seen enough gameplay to know that it would be superfluous at best.

They were probably getting complaints the game was using Sonic 1 8-bit's ring lost system among other complaints from the demo.

Looks like SoA is worried about Forces reviews.
There was a bit of an interesting discovery when looking at Forces' credits. There were only 3 level designers working on this game, and they were all newbies for the most part. This game was definitely filler until a bigger Sonic project. This better be a sign they're working on something that revises how they've been handling the franchise. Hopefully they fix the problems of the past 3d Sonic games and finally incorporate classic elements and solid gameplay & controls.
It's been what, 20 years of 3D sonic?
If 06 wasn't a big enough wakeup call then I doubt this will be.

Usually I would agree but the key factor here is Sonic Mania. They are not oblivious to it's success or it's good ideas at all, I think there is a high chance they are going to incorporate elements from it in future titles. Fixing the writing, character designs and art style would all be a pretty cool bonus too...
There's gonna be a third Twitter Takeover this Friday at 1:00 PM ET pertaining to Forces:

And there's a reason for them not giving out review codes:

This is actually pretty interesting if that's the case.
What's weird about Forces to me though is how they've been seeming to try and push it as having such a grand scale, being this epic, dramatic game that brings the two sides of the fandom back together, regardless of how well that actually works.
If this really is filler until a (hopefully soon) to be announced larger product, then honestly color me impressed.
Need another Unleashed sized project.
Need another Unleashed sized project.
How long was Unleashed in development anyway? From a quick google search, the Hedgehog Engine began development in 2005, which only gives them about 2-3 years to actually have made Unleashed.
Meanwhile, I think they have said that Forces started development after Generations was released.

Forces strikes me as something they began development on but by the time they realized it wasn't going to be that great of a hit they already sunk too many resources in to it so they decided to release it to try and make up for losses.
Need another Unleashed sized project.
As neat as it'd be to see Generations/Unleashed stages in Forces, without things like the aforementioned Drift they may be pretty awkward. :v:
Where the fuck are people getting English PS4 copies now?
I thought that shit only leaked on Switch.

I mean, I genuinely hope you're right but people have been clamoring for 3+K styled games for years and it just didn't happen until Taxman got a lucky break.
That and they already are trying to tie mania stuff in (drop dash).
I like the boost games and whatnot but I feel like the team will write it off as "We don't want to go backwards, we're trying to move forward here!" like how Iizuka responded to Adventure.
