Now I am really interested to see what Hedgehog Engine 2 is capable of with polished assets.
I'm interested to see what Hedgehog Engine 2 is capable of with actual level design. The assets are, mostly, fairly high quality, even if the art style is intentionally simplified compared to Generations thanks to the goddamn Lost World artists spreading their crap throughout the series now, it's just that you're usually speeding by too fast to really take anything in and the game doesn't like it if you do slow down.
Part of me thinks Forces is just a basic tech demo with only a year of development.
I'm also pretty miffed about Knuckles no longer being a gullible but semi-spiritual dude with the best intentions that's more laid back and chill until you confront him and he stands his ground. Or the fact that he seems to have little to do with the Master Emerald or Angel Island anymore for that matter. In fact, where the fuck was Angel Island in Forces? How cool would it have been if that 1% of unconquered land was Angel Island? Either way, now the guy's just a downright dumbass half the time or comes off as a high energy pushy dick. Or he just barely appears at all.
this conversation has gone on long enough, and I'm tired, so I'll just say this if you can show me overwhelming proof that a majority of the fanbase of comic readers was upset by these changes, and not just you, I'll agree that Flynn on the games is a bad idea. Heck, I'll even buy you a copy of the Lara-Su Chronicles, if penders ever finishes it
An appeal to the masses fallacy isn't exactly something I would close an argument with...
your argument is that flynn was pandering to some fans, which satisfied no one. my argument is that it only left you unsatisfied. it's not a fallacy if it's the crux of your own argument. you are stating that people felt this way and I'm asking you for evidence. there's no point continuing this discussion if you don't back up what you're saying.
More I think about how the Phantom Ruby works the more confused I get. Each clone Infinite makes is supposed to be as strong as the real thing. If that's the case shouldn't the big war scene at the end just be a absolutely insane massacre on the Sonic side of things? Like a army of Shadows all with the same power as the original would kind of be impossible to deal with I imagine. Then there's the Zavok copy at the start of the game. It fully talks, acts like Zavok, has all his memories from Lost World and even has the glimmer in his eye that characters usually have. Are all the copies conscious? If they're able to recall things based on the real ones shouldn't all the Shadows defect instantly? Like the Chaos's shouldn't even give a shit about anything and all just wanna go home. Also why can't Infinite make copies of y'know, sonic. I mean if Sonic alone is the biggest problem just make a army of him and throw them at the resistance. I'm so confused as to how the stupid copy thing works. [editline]15th November 2017[/editline] Sonics Friends: We've got the enemy on the ropes, they're fleeing scared! (numerous times) Aren't Eggmans forces a bunch of killbots that specifically stand around and fight to the death because they're cold unfeeling robots? Did eggman program them to run away scared at some point??
Infinite should've just made copies of himself. By the logic we're given that would guarantee victory right?
Around the final boss there's a cutscene going "WOAH THERES A JILLION INFINITES" but you never see it. Who knows what the hell logic the game is following at the end though. It's like a excited child just screaming out random words. Also unrelated but uh [t]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DOtd96wVoAAjgiA.jpg:large[/t] Yeah I have no idea what compelled me to do this.

And do I really need to justify that Ian and his methods aren't universally extolled? DeviantART in particular has a rather potent anti-Ian sentiment among certain groups, and many of them will cite the same grievances I have, even if they don't all want the same things I do out of the series. My argument was that it's better to be unique rather than attempt to consolidate a fractured fanbase that will never come together in harmony; at least with something unique, you have the opportunity to pique the interest of both new and old fans of all opinions by offering something different. I was pleasantly surprised by Sonic Boom, even though I come from a camp that prefers the darker side of the blue blur.
I hate Classic Sonic stages so fucking much. Now I have to do the time trial missions for them ontop of the very last two Red Rings being hidden in Chemical Plant and [sp]Death Egg[/sp], both exactly the fourth red rings on each stage. God, nothing but negative feelings and vulgarities come from me when i'm playing these stages specifically. Classic doesn't even remotely feel like he was made with any competence, and how much speed he gains on slopes and the height he gets off of ramps is fucking magical RNG I swear to god.

While Red Ring hunting earlier this happened and I started laughing really hard

Did eggman program them to run away scared at some point??
The Phantom Ruby's powers in this game are such a poorly explained concept, the things created by it are just illusions, yet they have a completely tangible effect on the real world and are capable of destroying things. Instead having some confusing "THIS IS PART OF OUR REALITY" stuff why not just give it the ability to summon anything the wielder wants it to? I mean, I love the idea of the Phantom Ruby's powers but it's so poorly communicated. Not to mention they also completely contradict what the gem is used for in Mania and Eggman also somehow creating copies of the Ruby
The Phantom Ruby made more fucking sense in Mania. With no dialogue. Also, what happens with Mania's Ruby? Is it the same one Eggman finds in the desert after being teleported? Is it destroyed? Is it deleted for plot convenience?

Then it worked instantly for him thanks to considering both Eggmans the same person. But for some reason these past few games and especially Forces have almost gone out of their way to have little to nothing; without that prequel comic, Silver and Knuckles' roles in the story would be out of left field, the Phantom Ruby and Infinite would have even less context even with Episode Shadow, and so forth.

Frankly I'm already tired of people using "Sonic Forces is objectively bad" as an argument. What a witch hunt. Same thing happened with ME:Andromeda, really.
Yeah, not liking a game is no reason to refund it, you go and try refund ANYTHING to any store because you don't like it and they'll just tell you to fuck off.
Frankly I'm already tired of people using "Sonic Forces is objectively bad" as an argument. What a witch hunt. Same thing happened with ME:Andromeda, really.
We live in a gaming universe filled with :toxx:
that weegee guy is such a toxic and smug asshole.
Hey I just realized something... Forces stopped using the bottomless pit sign despite having more bottomless pits. What gives?
Hey I just realized something... Forces stopped using the bottomless pit sign despite having more bottomless pits. What gives?
A lot of little quality-of-life things are missing altogether. Probably because the game came from the Colors/Lost World devs, which had a lot of asshole pits in the latter, instead of Generations which introduced said signs. And i've probably said it before, but you can really feel the physics and controls straining themselves. The Lost World physics still apply, and those were pretty wonky since holding the run button, not holding it and releasing/holding it mid-jump radically changed jump trajectory. Now Forces maintains that same logic, but with analog movement, actual acceleration and no run button, so there's no wonder why people complain about inconsistent physics. It also doesn't help that the moment Modern Sonic and the Avatar hit top speed, there's a really damn noticeable jump in speed and suddenly they become a hell of a lot harder to control beyond straightwards running; almost as if the devs artificially planted the max speed over the running speed from LW and didn't really plan it out or refine it beyond that. And it's probably why Sonic tries to stay in the center of the 'track' on his own to minimize how fucking awkward it is.
Kinda hard to imagine that controls can still be an issue for any notable game in 2017. Well, here we are.
[tweets]
whoda thunk the guy who plagiarizes videos is a shithead
Kinda hard to imagine that controls can still be an issue for any notable game in 2017. Well, here we are.
When your game has around a year of development that gets rushed to release prior to the holidays and to capitalize on a new console, it isn't really a surprise.
I was never really a fan of the bottomless pit signs honestly. They're a nice option but I'd like the ability to disable them.
Frankly I'm already tired of people using "Sonic Forces is objectively bad" as an argument.
Well, I mean....
Well, I mean....
Regardless of how true that might be a dead horse is a dead horse.
Frankly I'm already tired of people using "Sonic Forces is objectively bad" as an argument. What a witch hunt. Same thing happened with ME:Andromeda, really.
A argument for what? Like, the game *is* bad so I'm not sure what situation would apply where it's not true. Mentioned before but it's okay to enjoy a bad game, devote a lot of time to it and really love it- but the objective quality of the game as a whole won't really change. Just a personal preference/bias. I 100% the game, speedran a few levels for fun and got my money for it but like, my tune isn't changing because it's easy to acknowledge the things held together with ducktape with pieces falling off. This ain't a knock against you or anyone else. Just kinda curious as to what you mean as people going "the game is bad" is hardly a witch hunt.
