Bear in mind it has a full aquarium on it for absolutely no reason.

there is valid questions on how all of that can even fit inside of the Egg Carrier in the first place. At least with the Death Egg you had a good idea it was massive.
Still absolutely love this piece by Hideaki Kobayash from Mega Collection:

It has been stuck in my head since I was young and perfectly captures the reminiscence of the series as a whole.
Adventure 1 is the one of the duo that really hasn't aged well imo: characters spaz out on the more fugly level geometry, near lack of sound design, etc. While 2 hasn't escaped from the contention either, you can tell that the developers of that game, once they got their footing from 1, tried to improved the glaring flaws in terms of how characters moved in their environment (strong exception being the Mech stages especially when you compare them to how smooth Gamma felt), the engine, and overall presentation. I still really love Adventure 1 for what it was and still is but man you really can't ignore the problems it has. Easily the first game they should remake if Sonic Team ever get the chance and have gotten 3D Sonic's gameplay completely down pat.
Sonic and Knuckles arguably do handle better in SA2, I prefer the smoother and faster gameplay in SA1 more, jumping in SA2 was way too slow and floaty.
The camera in SA1 can bite my ass
A lot of things in SA1 can bite my ass. But ironically, everything that's not the speed stages in SA2 pisses me off more. Like the treasure hunting stages having a downgraded radar compared to the previous game, or how fucking clunky the mechs can be which can easily lead to cheap hits or falling straight into a pit due to a sluggish turn.
Least favorite part of Adventure 1: Mission 54 for Tails in Mission Mode. That can go eat a dick.
With Sonic Adventure 1 the other playstyles I was like "This isn't as fun as Sonic but this is a decent distraction". Playing the entirety of Sonic Adventure 2 made me physically angry.
I liked the hunting stages, although the sequential radar was ridiculous. Fuck Mad Space tho.
It really feels weird starting Sonic Heroes as my first 3D Sonic game, I enjoyed it a lot but boy the game had some tough rough parts. Although the levels were done pretty well, I loved all stages [sp] SHIT ROCK YEAH[/sp]
Heroes is actually a good introduction, as the classic mechanics make for a smooth transition.
I liked the hunting stages, although the sequential radar was ridiculous. Fuck Mad Space tho.
The sequential radar is the sole reason I can't stand the hunting stages in 2, while I actually really liked them in 1. [sp]Then again I didn't mind the fishing stages either so I must be crazy[/sp]
Simplicity aside (and even then the JP manuals say otherwise with their sense of continuity) the Classic Quintet would like to talk to you. Also, compare how some of the main cast act in their debut appearances to their portrayals in the Adventure titles.
That's not what character development is, characters changing between games is just a retcon to deal with the tonal changes between the games.
It really feels weird starting Sonic Heroes as my first 3D Sonic game, I enjoyed it a lot but boy the game had some tough rough parts. Although the levels were done pretty well, I loved all stages [sp] SHIT ROCK YEAH[/sp]
My first 3D Sonic game was Sonic Adventure 1, and I played it on my cousins' Dreamcast. Ahhh, good old days, but she only had that, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, Crazy Taxi and Power Stone.
The first Sonic game I owned that was a true 3d title was Heroes on the Gamecube Then I got Adventure 2 And then SADX Which unlike SA2 froze on the first of Big the Cat's Fishing stages.
I never played Sonic 1 until the Mega Collection, but I did play the shit out of Sonic 2 and 3 (not S&K/3&K) for most of my childhood. When I got the Gamecube, I had basically four games; Super Smash Bros Melee, Sonic Mega Collection, Sonic Adventure DX, and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. I also got Heroes when that came out. It was a Sonic binge for a couple years almost, inbetween Timesplitters, Melee and schoolwork. I skipped over owning Shadow and '06, although I played plenty enough of a friend's copy of Shadow to know it wasn't a good game (and still get the Last Story). And one rental of '06 was enough to convince me to stay away, although some completionist part of my soul still wants to get a copy given their ceased production. I actually didn't continue the series with Unleashed until 2010, and I still haven't actually beaten that damn game. I get up to Chun and then stop because I missed enough medals to have to go backtrack. Sonic Team pads their fucking games out way too often. And I didn't even play Colors until last year, though I did get Generations at launch. Lost World was another rental to show it wasn't my game - but I still bought it on Steam last year like a fool anyway. For some reason nowadays I can barely tolerate any 3D Sonic game that isn't Generations or Colors, if they don't make a gibbering madman out of me instead, but the 2D Sonic games are still great enough that I can hop on in and spend a good few hours playing through without a care in the world.
My order: first title was Heroes, followed by Mega Collection (1, 2, 3&K) immediately after and Adventure 1 and 2 (the Gamecube ports) later on. Only Sonic games I've never played are a small handful of spin-offs (i.e: SegaSonic, Rivals, Battle, and Pinball Party), the mobile games, 06' and the Boom titles (very latter for obvious reasons).
My first was the first one on the Radica plug n play. Eventually my parents realized their Genesis was in the attic and got that out. We went down to the local record shop (they sold retro games as well) and picked up Sonic 1 and 3+Knuckles. I spent so much time playing that Model 2 Genesis, and I eventually got Heroes and Mega Collection on PS2 as well as SADX on PC. It was how I learned about modding PC games, which blew my mind because I could swap out models for fan ones. I even had a go at making my own textures (which mainly were tweaks to a model that didn't look quite right.) It was around Unleashed when I stopped following the series aside from SADX's PS3 port. It was the first game I got on PS3 after we replaced our 360 with it. I did get Colors but I hadn't heard a thing about it before I saw it at Gamestop. The Genesis/Mega Drive Classics Hub and Mania has got me back into playing Sonic after trying to play SA2 and just not being interested. It probably was just burn-out because I had gone back and played through SADX again right before getting SA2.
My first ever Sonic Game was either Sonic Advance 1 or the original on one of those store bought Sega Genesis' that had 4 games on it.
You all are making me feel old as hell goddammit stop. I started at Sonic 1 on release (had both Sega and Nintendo in my house). Got Sonic 2 on release and Sonic 3 at release. My mom was part of a latchkey group for our elementary school so would stay after with my Sega and we'd all play it. One day one of the kids brought in + Knuckles and holy shit we can combine the games??? Class would hand me the controller to see me play and how far I could get us (it was a group effort and I was designated the best of the group.) Biggest let down of my after school life was getting to the final-final boss. Mom said I had one chance and all the kids were sticking around (and forcing their parents to) because "we're gonna see the ending!" ...and I died and was forced to shut it off. Later would get the Game Gear and Sonic 2 and never beat it, and Sonic Triple Trouble which I beat the hell out of. After that I skipped the dreamcast and only played SA1's Sonic mode at some summer camp thing I went to. Wasn't until Adventure 2 Battle on the gamecube that I got back into the series and loved it. Wound up getting a discount dreamcast and was able to play Sonic Shuffle and Adventure 1 and beat both of them (though understood they were flawed heavily). Got Sonic Heroes after all that and hated it. It was a trash ass bad game and it made me decide to pass on 3D sonic games in the future unless I heard *really* nice things. (Thankfully let me dodge 06) Played advance 1, rush 1 and skipped everything else up to Unleashed (which I heard was good) and been playing releases since then. Didn't get a chance to play CD until it got it's 360 re-release tho. Tier List: Greatest Games: Sonic 2 Sonic 3 + K Sonic Colors Sonic Generations Good Games Sonic Triple Trouble (Might of aged poorly, haven't played it since release and it IS a game gear game lol) Sonic Advance Sonic Rush Sonic Unleashed Bad Games Sonic Adventure Sonic Adventure 2 Sonic 4 Sonic and the Secret Rings (I was once locked in a room for a full week with nothing but this game) Broken Trash Sonic Heroes.
Well my first ever sonic game happened to be 2 The first game I ever played to completion is sonic 3d blast
Funny story: When I was a kid I used to call Tails "FurFur" for some reason and when I was looking up some stuff I found out that the name "FurFur" is the name of a Demon :pudge:.

Question: Which Sonic games do you think had the best soundtracks?
Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity has a criminally underrated soundtrack
I really like Sonic Colors' soundtrack. I don't think Generations should count since most of it is remixed/reused songs from previous games. [editline]2nd August 2016[/editline] Scratch that, I totally fucking loved the classic stage remix of city escape.
