Wait, if Shadow is a villain, why is Silver still on the "resistance" side in the game?
Shadow was always a neutral character. Silver is stup... I mean naive (according to 06) but still on the good side (06, rivals).
Metal Overlord and Perfect Chaos are what i want to see to be honest.
[sp] Imagine if they intentionally do the super long Metal Overlord transformation like in Sonic Heroes[/sp]

I hope we don't get another Perfect Chaos fight.
We've had him in Generations already and there's bound to be more than 1 giant monster here.
His other forms are cool and they could do a lot with him.
Sonic Forces is a mess. At this point they're just throwing a bunch of random stuff at the wall to see what sticks.
Unpopular opinion I guess but I hope Metal Overlord is never seen again. Like they did a fine job making him "modern" (though he just wound up looking like mecha sonic) only to throw it away and turn him into a idiot monster within the same few seconds.
Let the chubby lil classic metal stay like that.
Another unpopular opinion:
I hope the chaos emeralds are not involved. Hard to imagine not using them with the world in such bad shape, but I dislike the fact that they are always the "I win" button against Egghead.
I like how in the custom character's Park Avenue there's one part where he hits a speed booster, goes around a scripted loop, hits a spring and then gets launched in to some orange rings only to get hit in to an automated speed booster. This level design is all over the place, even in Classic Sonic's stages. They've been going with this automated type of level design since Sonic Adventure and I don't know why

Perfect Metal Chaos Overlord, when
I have a question: Why do people dislike/hate Sonic 4 :s:?

the physics engine apparently.
Personally I don't have much of a problem with it.
It was pretty much just a rehash of old levels with janky physics.
IIRC Sega also advertised it as the prequel to Sonic CD when it was first announced, which didn't sit well with people.
I have a question: Why do people dislike/hate Sonic 4 :s:?
The physics are awful, the level design sucks, there are boosters everywhere, the level design is smaller than any of the classics, the level gimmicks are lazier and less abundant than the classics, no Tails or Knuckles, most of the zones and all the enemies in episode 1 are reused from previous games, the homing attack is a completely unnecessary addition that leads to lazy level design, the tag team gimmick in episode 2 breaks the pace of the game whenever you need to use it, Dimps, they're both incredibly bland, no option to play as Tails alone in episode 2, Sonic is too large on the screen, the music sucks, it is a downgrade from the games it claims to be a sequel to in every imaginable way and I am very worried for anyone who has played it and yet still can't see the problem.
edit: also forgot the presentation and graphics in ep 1 are so unprofessional and are completely embarrassing for a game with a supposed budget. It was outclassed by Sonic Fan Remix, a fangame in 2010 for god's sake

I remember 4 also hitting more continuity problems with how either one of the episodes stated that Knuckles' story happened concurrently during the whole course of S3&K, even though it clearly takes place after and wouldn't really make sense otherwise (i.e: having a robot going about destroying your homeland which eerily resembles the man who told you that a certain blue hedgehog was going after your ancestors' artifacts would immediately give away the ruse to Knuckles that he was tricked the whole time, nor does it acknowledge how both endings couldn't of happened at the same time).

It was even worse if you weren't playing on 360 IIRC, which was the only version at the time to have bloom and some slightly better textures.
The iOS version also was released pretty much unchanged from the leaked prototypes, which meant it had worse physics as well.

Oh god I forgot how bad the shading was on Sonic.
Oh god I forgot how bad the shading was on Sonic.
That's because they tried to make a 3d model 'look' like a 2d sprite
the effect was not well done.
at all
Sonic 4's art direction always bugged me. Especially with EP1 on how plastic and pre-rendered everything looked. I find it funny that the Wiiware version was the most appealing visually out of all versions.
For example: why do Motobugs look so malnourished all of the sudden

Yeah, even their concept art doesn't portray them as being so thinly built. Likely has to do with the forced 2.5D perspective people have already noted on this page.

The thing that bugs me is that Sonic 4 used the Sonic Rush engine/code apparently, and I think Iizuka or someone had said that they did so because they didn't want to be exactly like the old games - only to rip off almost every trope and element from the classics anyway, occasional new gimmicks or such aside. It was so damn hypocritical.
Probably late, but Sonic won't redeem itself for me unless a continuation or remake is made of either of the Sonic Adventure games. Can't be beaten.
