Obligitory 'the game is amazing' post incoming. I just beat the game on my first, run, gonna scout out the levels in search of the rest of the emeralds but until I do I gotta ask, [sp]Why do some levels have transitions ala Sonic 3 and Knuckles but some of them fade to black? It was kinda jarring to go from Press Garden to inexplicably falling into Hydrocity. Meanwhile going from Mirage Saloon to Oil Ocean was done so well.[/sp]

whatever happened to the lara-su chronicles? there was all that promo material and the trailer for the live-action thing but did anything ever actually release?
Who the fuck thought that [sp]Oil Ocean[/sp] was a good idea? You had a dozen perfectly good zones to bring back and you pick this boring piece of trash? Then you give it an obnoxious boss so I have to sit through this stupid zone over and over because lives definitely make the game more fun and challenging and not just a tedious drag.
Even the music is dull and repetitive.

A page or two, but Penders is still working on it.
Unfortunately, seeing as he got around the Knuckles copyright problem by calling him K'nux, and Angel Island became Floating Island or something like that with a coat of arms that suspiciously resembled a modified Los Angeles Dodgers logo.
Sega is weirdly anti-dlc for Sonic. Other than Casino Nights pinball there was zero dlc for Generations when that game was practically built for whoring out DLC levels.
DLC is a cancer of gaming so I am glad we won't have them in Mania. Sadly it was confirmed that at least chinese version of Forces will have DLC.
Unless there's more Giant Rings the total amount of Giant Rings you can Obtain in Green Hill Zone is 5 currently, i assume i haven't seen them all but here you go. I can make a guide for any of you guys who are struggling with getting all the Chaos Emeralds.

I want the "DLC is cancer" meme to die
DLC is good as hell when it's actual y'know, DLC. Stuff made after a game goes gold and is out. Who doesn't like getting updates on games they love? I mean look how much it added to Nintendo properties like Mario Kart and Hyrule Warriors.
What's bad is when the "DLC" is just a unlock key or something obviously cut from the game just to be sold back to you in a attempt to steal money (see: Capcom)

DLC is a cancer when a game is cut up and re-sold as DLC. A game like Sonic Generations was worth the full price, felt like a full game, and had a satisfying amount of levels, so it would have been perfectly adequate.

Nintendo does DLC either really well or really bad, regarding prices.
Compare Mario Kart to Smash Bros
Someone posted this without context in LMAO Pics, it's actually really cute:

Haven't seen a lot but there's one that changes Sonic into Metal Sonic:

The tie breaker for Competition is the goddamn [sp]Mean Bean 2P mode[/sp]
Also Sonic Forces pre-order "in the near future, though not like the near-near future, but near future"
How many medals do I need to unlock [sp]Mean Bean[/sp]? I have 12 Gold and 5 Silver.
As far as I can tell, Golds only matter for bragging rights, a free extra shot at the current checkpoint at another bonus stage, and trophies/achievements on systems that have them. You can get all the unlockables with solely Silvers. Eurogamer claims that [sp]Mean Bean, D.A. Garden, and Blue Spheres mode[/sp] are all unlocked at completing all 32 stages.
DarkspinesSonic discovered a bunny-hopping trick in the special stages that allows every emerald to collected incredibly quickly at Mach 1. This will be great for future all-emerald speedruns, and it makes most of the emeralds incredibly easy once you get how to do it.
If any of you guys saw the stream today from the Official Sonic YouTube channel, they said that we might be getting Christian Whitehead's Sonic 1 & 2 remakes on consoles. The reason why we haven't gotten them yet is because they decided to make a original game, hence where Sonic Mania comes into play. I really hope they do come out, and on the Switch too (Sonic CD too plz)

Of course, I torture myself on Stage 4 of the Special Stage, and this guy just does it in seconds.
It finally came in the mail
I just got a hidden ending via dicking around with unlocks. (It's a actual secret ending, and requires you to have finished half the blue sphere levels)
[sp]Step 1: Enable Debug and & Knuckles Mode
Step 2: Go to the debug level select and make sure you're playing as Knuckles
Step 3: Defeat the Super Sonic boss with Knuckles
Enjoy the goofy new ending you get[/sp]
I just tried this too. It's quite cool and you guys should check it out.

Apparently it also happens if you beat the game in [sp]& Knuckles mode[/sp]
which means a No-Save run or the Level Select if you've unlocked it
Apparently it also happens if you beat the game in [sp]& Knuckles mode[/sp]

Yup, most likely why it works in the first place, they expect you to beat it in a No-Save run. Doing a No-Save run is quite challenging, but god help you when you get to Oil Ocean Zone.
Funny enough, the Switch version kind-of makes No-Save run a bit obsolete because you can put the system to sleep.
Oil Ocean isn't even that hard, it was just that the damn boss is surprisingly dickish and will subject you to fast deaths and/or instakills if you try to play too aggressively. Hell, [sp]taking out the Giant Egg Robo turrets strips it down to the original Oil Ocean pattern[/sp] except probably even easier than it was in Sonic 2
Most of the reason why the Oil Ocean boss is hard is because [sp]the platform that comes back up can insta-kill you if your in the oil, even if you think you above it. If you get hit, the rings can fall in the oil and you can't recover it. Rumour says the boss becomes super easy if you go there with a Fire Shield since apparently it can nullify the laser.[/sp] True Final Boss can also kill you quickly if your too aggressive with it.
Oh, and there is a Level Select like the old Sonic games that you can do in the Title Screen. You don't need to unlock anything, and it can be done as soon as you buy and install the game. Just [sp]Hold Y+B on the Title Screen before the "Press any button to start" shows up, then press + while still holding the button down. Presto, easy Level Select AND Sound Test[/sp]

Apparently that only works on the Switch version from the get go.
XB1 and PS4 you need something done first. So it could possibly be a bug in the switch version.
[sp]Shinobi Heavy's[/sp] fight is fucked to hell and back with bugs.
Basically it's very easy to enter into his arena in ice cubes, and I guess with that velocity when you ram into the tree trunk at the far right it straight up disappears.
This can lead you straight into the next area's cutscene and softlock the game without you pressing anything, and I've had it happen three times now.
Best bet if it happens is to kill yourself before it softlocks so you just go back to the checkpoint.

Nah, it's locked out due to achievements. When you do get it in the other consoles then it locks them anyway.
