Makes perfect sense. Switch has no acheivements so there is no need to lock it from the get-go.
[sp]Shinobi Heavy's[/sp] fight is fucked to hell and back with bugs. Basically it's very easy to enter into his arena in ice cubes, and I guess with that velocity when you ram into the tree trunk at the far right it straight up disappears. This can lead you straight into the next area's cutscene and softlock the game without you pressing anything, and I've had it happen three times now. Best bet if it happens is to kill yourself before it softlocks so you just go back to the checkpoint.
I saw a video on that and that ice block can actually make you skip the fight completely. Still, I don't think it was made intentional since what you said is also true can causes soft-locks.
As far as I can tell, Golds only matter for bragging rights, a free extra shot at the current checkpoint at another bonus stage, and trophies/achievements on systems that have them. You can get all the unlockables with solely Silvers. Eurogamer claims that [sp]Mean Bean, D.A. Garden, and Blue Spheres mode[/sp] are all unlocked at completing all 32 stages.
Nope, 3 rows unlocks [sp]Mean Bean and D.A Garden. All silvers just unlock Blue Sphere which has new stages/mechanics.[/sp]
Nah, it's locked out due to achievements. When you do get it in the other consoles then it locks them anyway.
Well thats dumb. It should just lock you out if you do the start screen code until you reset.
And please for the love of god have him do a Sonic 3 & Knuckles remaster
Probably not gonna happen. It gets pitched a lot but the music is keeping it from ever getting remade/re-released. It's why he was denied when he tried to present it to SEGA and why collections just include + Knuckles and nothing else. E: I have learned my lesson on automerge. I'm sorry my friends.
I don't see how the music could be an issue though since stages were put in Mania with remixed music. At least afaik Hydrocity was one of the ones that was very likely composed by MJ. Then again that theory could also provide a pretty solid reasoning as to why Ice Cap wasn't in Mania, even though that would be encroaching on the Jetzons' territory and not MJ's. Either way, shouldn't SEGA retain the rights to their compositions/music? It seems like it'd be ridiculous not to, and I mean, they sell the original game still on Steam, so I don't see how they'd be able to do that if there were copyright issues.
Yeah just to be clear there's no "official" reason why, it's just highly believed that the MJ connection and stuff like Ice Cap is making it impossible. Sega just really doesn't want vanilla 3 to show up really.

Oh huh, wasn't aware it was on Steam. I have no idea why he keeps getting turned down then. Sega's weird I guess?
I just went and play it right now to verify the music and it does have the original soundtrack, so we'll have to wait and see if they'll make Whitehead make a remaster of it.
Fucking finally got myself that damn 4th Chaos Emerald. It took getting Mach 3, hitting multiple bombs in the last stretch and literally having a single ring left before I finally got after, what, thirteen attempts?
I find it funny that the 4th Chaos Emerald is the hardest of them all and the 7th Chaos Emerald was quite easy. Shouldn't have been in reverse? ...oh and when I was messing around with the SEGA Mega Drige & Genesis Classic on Steam (I bought it on Steam Sale for like $8 for ALL 58 games), I remember seeing Sonic 3D Blast. Am I the only one that actually enjoyed it? Sure, hunting down the Flickies wasn't that exciting but it was still solid. The music is fucking amazing though, that;s one thing you can't go wrong with it.
And now the fifth emerald's giving me shit. Also I absolutely suck at Blue Spheres. And 3D Blast was pretty flawed, but it does have the magic touch of SEGA / Sonic soundtracks.
Now that I think about it, it would be a cool idea if Christian Whitehead remakes Sonic 3D Blast as a proper 2D Sonic game.
But it did got re-release on Steam, and it's Sonic 3 & Knuckles. And they've replaced the music before with the PC version, but that might be because they couldn't use the sound samples in the Midi tracks. I've thought about trying it again (I last played it on the Mega Collection years ago) but I'm not sure which version I should get. While the Genesis version on Steam is guaranteed to work on Windows 7 the native PC port has all the Saturn version enhancements.

I was never a fan of the Saturn verison's soundtrack.
cant really enjoy 3D blast as for some reason it triggers motion sickness on me. by the second stage i can't play anymore.
As far as I can tell, Golds only matter for bragging rights, a free extra shot at the current checkpoint at another bonus stage, and trophies/achievements on systems that have them. Also i tried to get that other ending but didn't know how to get into the level select, so I used [sp]Debug mode and just no clipped to each zones boss, this was working well until i got to press garden act 2 and just by walking a few steps regularly caused the game to crash.[/sp] After fumbling around i figured out how to get the level select working :v:
The Genesis version of 3D Blast is technically the main version, but don't expect much out of the special stages. The Saturn version is harder to play for obvious reasons, and while I love Richard Jacque's work, I can understand why some may not like it, but the special stages are pretty good interpretations of the half-pipe. The PC version is the Saturn version in all but the special stages, which got severely bastardized and fucked over.
Cool thing about the Steam version is that it supports mods, so you can play the mod that removed the flickies collecting, and the ability to turn to Super Sonic when you get the emeralds.
I don't think I've even seen past the first level of Sonic 3D blast. But you know what does need a remaster/remake? Sonic R.
Has anyone else run into the blue super sonic bug? Happened to me during one of the act 2 boss fights.
Has anyone else run into the blue super sonic bug? Happened to me during one of the act 2 boss fights.
It's not a bug, it's him going Super Sonic Blue

I just got Super Tails and was ready to use it, but got stuck twice in a row. First time was when I got caught in a piece of scenery and just got softlocked out. The other time was when I was in a room after a special ring (which gave me 50 rings) with a bunch of ice blocks blocking the exit and a fire shield. Since I was super and couldn't use the fire shield I was stuck in there until all my rings ran out, so I ended up resetting. Then the boss was all sorts of bugged too. Seems that act was rushed through in bug testing.
My favorite part about [sp]metal sonic[/sp] was the fact that there were no bullshit random ass spikes in the most crucial part of the track Also who else got hype when they saw the [sp]3D eggman statue that shit was legit[/sp]
It finally came in the mail [t]https://scontent.fphx1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/20799165_10211971140407509_7085211099611251437_n.jpg?oh=d37f95b69d815d296653b0d73e92e757&oe=5A2728FC[/t]
So I've never owned a genesis. Is the genesis on this figure 1:1 scale?
Jesus christ, fuck metal sonic. That part where you have to deflect the decoys back at him is fucking infuriating. I'm screaming.
So I've never owned a genesis. Is the genesis on this figure 1:1 scale?
It's slightly bigger than the actual console. People count the revs but I just kinda mash and it hits every time lol
