I had the monkey bar glitch
I must be a bad sonic player because I can't beat the 3rd chaos emerald level. I must have tried at least 5 times now.
Just got my 100% trophy for Mania, had to reset my console as a couple were glitched. Bah.
Also the game refuses to acknowledge poor tails

Alpha, you're totally going to draw Classic Eggman next right
right
Actually I did but I don't think I post it here when I did.

[sp]sorry for the impromptu art of mine right after Tyson's better Sonics.[/sp]
I'm more then fine with it personally, your art is super expressive and fun :v:
Anyone else get this glitch before in the Switch version of Mania?
When I complete a bonus stage (blue sphere) with a silver medal (only getting the spheres) while on a stage I've picked through the secret stage select you can access at the main menu, the game crashes with a message on the Switch saying "The software has been closed due to and unexpected error" and goes back to the home screen. But if I get a gold medal (getting spheres and rings) it works just fine.
It happens every time I try it so it's definitely not a one off.
The same might happen in the debug mode but I haven't unlocked it so I don't know.
If anyone wants to see if they can recreate it you can get into the secret stage select by holding B and Y down on the title screen then it starts and then press + when "Press any button" comes up. (but keep B and Y held down the whole time)
If they can't then its my game or Switch might have a problem.
Had a glitch where in Garden Press I went out of a special stage and grabbed the fire powerup only to crash the game when I dashed into a huge pile of ice blocks. GG Taxman

So it wasn't just me that happened to then.
Hope they get that patch out soon.
Mania upsets me because it made me realize I'm a Sonic Hipster
I got every single callback the game made instantly and it was just really obvious to me. I looked up videos and see references fly over folks heads and I'm like "No! No that's [x] from [x]! How don't you know!"
Then I see someone in the comments get something wrong while acting like they know what they're talking about and it makes me go even more insane.
I just need... I need to step back a little bit.
That Polygon Jim reference hits me in the feels. He would've been so glad to see Mania, hell, he would've been part of the team.
You wanna know how far gone I am. Peep this, world exclusive as I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.
Take a look at these capsules in Mania

Nothing too impressive right? Wrong it's a reference to Eggmans old logo that only appears like once in Wing Fortress Zone

Somebody help me

Dude, you really are a Sonic Mania.
I would suggest a trivia contest to determine the most Sonic Maniac but then we'd need someone to write the questions...
Seeing all the references to unused sprites really made me nostalgic about lurking Secrets of Sonic Team and other such sites. They're pretty much the reason I regularly check out the Cutting Room Floor wiki.
With the PC version it will probably be easier to look at the files for more stuff.
Would not surprise me if people manage to make mods to the PC version at some point.
If there's one thing I have learned, it's that Sonic modders are pretty motivated and can achieve great things. The fact they managed to mod Sonic Generations so much is an incredible feat.
I know someone is going to mod Sonic 1 & 2, at the very least, to Sonic Mania's engine and sprites.
Somebody help me
The same logo is also seen in concept artwork of Grounder + Eggman and the Egg Mobile from Sonic 2 and Drift respectively.

Imagine if people manage to mod in even more original zones, possibly even around the quality of the current original zones. Man, that would be the dream. :speedfap:
Played some more of Mania today, I'm really mad that half of my deaths are because of getting squished between platforms and floor/ceiling. I lost almost all of my lives because of that in last zone. Will finish the game later.
Got a really cool moment though

And, unlike certain companies who shall remain nameless, they won't cease and desist and actively try to remove fan made content.

This boss was actually really easy you just have to stay under it and look at the arrows on the elevator, and move when it's going down.
It's kind of been a problem with Sonic since Sonic 2. Even with widescreen resolution being hailed as some sort of "bullshit negation" positive for Mania by a bunch of reviewers and critics, the games love flinging you into dangerous situations that then stop you and give you a second to react or die by crushing, among other problems like Titanic Monarch Act 2's fucking shifting mini-elevators and the infamous Chemical Plant water climbing sequence with platforms seemingly arranged to crush you if you try to handle it ASAP rather than drop down a little to reposition and then take your time.
In emulating what old Sonic games did with their level design, Mania recreated a massive bugbear with that problem.
I will admit that 90% of my dead were by being crushed. The one on Green Hill Zone Act 2 that has a moving platform with a Shield Monitor next to a checkpoint was deliberate made to crush you for being greedy. Then there's the infamous Chemical Plant are, and fucking Oil Ocean.
Having recently tried "relaxing" by playing Sonic 2 on my phone today, I feel like while Mania isn't shy about throwing shit in your path with minimal reaction time and crushing you on occassion, it's not nearly as bad as fucking Sonic 2 is about it. Aquatic Ruin and its underwater murder pillars can go fuck themselves, the things are practically designed to crush you if you dare to try to go fast while approaching them. Got a Game Over entirely because of their bullshit.
Meanwhile, after finishing Mania with Sonic I can only recall getting crushed about 5-6 times and it was generally telegraphed.
The Oil Ocean miniboss is particularly baffling. He's pathetically easy to cheese and kill if you just throw yourself at him, as if designed to be murdered in less than ten seconds. But if you don't kill him that way, the fight suddenly starts throwing the arena platforms up towards spikes on the ceiling that were just out of view, and they go high enough to crush you against them. There's a safe spot, but it's a very high chance of immediate death on a blind circumstance if you're cautious enough to try to not blindly jump into him repeatedly or don't want to risk taking a hit.

I really don't know why they brought back that chemical plant bit. Even if you do make it to the top, you can still fall down from the moving platforms and there's no saving yourself
