Consequently, the hidden path to skip that entire section is also still there (not that i've ever found it here or then, though).

For better or worse, they brought it back because it's an iconic segment of an iconic zone. Whether or not you liked playing through it, most people damn sure remember that section.
So it turns out that Fang isn't half wolf, half weasel but half wolf and half jerboa.
who is honestly excited for Forces?
there is little to no enthusiasm when it comes to this game and I'm just anticipating the part where it kills all momentum that came from Mania. I hope players and critics are as unforgiving as possible when it comes to Forces. Sonic Team needs to learn they can't just copy Generations and make more mistakes and just expect it to sell.

So the character based on the game Dynamite Dux is a woodpecker.
Next it'll be revealed that the lead character of Sonic The Hedgehog is actually a porcupine this entire time.

So you're basically hoping the game fails and that people should continue giving mixed signals that further make Sonic Team feel like they're backed in a corner thus inadvertently continue making titles that aren't solid as they should be, which also completely goes against your intentions to begin with?
Don't be dumb. Forces is probably going to be fine. I expect to play it, hopefully enjoy it and leave it at that. I have Mania so I'm happy.
Also the only time I think crushing is a problem in Mania is in Chemical Plant Act 1. The infamous Mega Mac shaft is ultra spotty and just kills you randomly sometimes when it really shouldn't. It's actually shitty.
Oil Ocean's Lumberjack bot will blind kill everyone first try and it's like, his one note gimmick. They really didn't think him through at all and he's one of the only bosses I'd straight up call poorly designed. (I'm glad he's moved to a different job occupation though, that's fun)
Oil Oceans Act 2 boss also has a bug where if your standing on the platform as it gets tugged down you get crushed- heck if you do a low jump it can still crush you on literally nothing. It's super frustrating.
I'm looking forward to people getting whiplash when they transition from Mania to Classic Sonic's awful movement physics in Forces.
I feel like the only person who didn't have a problem with Oil Ocean in Sonic Mania.
EDIT: I didn't mean for this to sound like a humble brag or anything, rather I was expecting to have lot more trouble in Oil Ocean than I actually did. Especially considering act 2 [sp]took notes from Sandopolis of all levels.[/sp]
I feel like the only person who didn't have a problem with Oil Ocean in Sonic Mania.
I didn't have a problem besides one platform-crushed death, up until the boss anyway.
Surprisingly, Oil Ocean is a short level. The hardest thing really is the boss.

I wouldn't call it awful, just different. Like generations was still a fun ass game and I liked playing classic sonic there even if he wasn't 1:1.
My biggest concern is level design honestly. I went back and looked at some of Generations Classic stages (not all of them though) and a lot of them felt more... closed in? Like not really straight lines or anything but nowhere near as branching as Mania, and judging by the footage of Green Hill they released the level design looks even worse/more generic.
I really *really* wanna see more of Forces. It blows my mind how awful the marketing is that we don't have a release date yet and they've only shown like a total of 3 minutes of gameplay for it.
Generations was fun for what it was, but Classic Sonic, they did not recreate accurately at all. Which was alright, since the new levels and design were interesting in their own right. Especially since the only direct comparison for people to really give a hoot about at the time was Sonic 4.
Forces on the other hand is going to be only mere months after Mania, which just further highlights how Sonic Team doesn't really understand or care for how Classic Sonic design works. Granted, it seems like they're only laying on the nostalgia at the game beginning before branching out, but then we've barely seen anything to really judge that as mentioned.
Classic Sonic's physics in Generations felt like a step back to the first game with how it played more like your standard platformer and how there wasn't a huge emphasis on momentum, plus the level design was more spacious.

I wouldn't say it was back to sonic 1
Sonic 1 was baaaad
Generations was just it's own strange thing

what?
I'm pretty much expecting Forces a completely okay game.
Not bad, but not amazing either.
From Gamescom apparently
[t]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DH3AmQoV0AEFk8I.jpg[/t]
No hubs or so forth, just a bunch of stage stuff, customization, and missions that are presumably like extra challenges ala Generations. Seems like unless these demos specifically don't have any sort of hub, they're going to Colors/Lost World style by straight up going from stage to stage via a select screen.
I'm fine with that. Can't wait for my OC to hang out with Big in the tag team stages.
Also looking at Stealth's old stuff is fun.

Sounds fine to me: straight to the point.
Strangely, I've been watching the Sonic Boom cartoon and I like it.

I got mine for PC, too.
Not sure if late but I guess I can confirm the PC collectors edition comes with steam key (was this obvious)?
Got my collectors edition in the post today. Actually imported it from the US because it was cheaper (including all fees) than buying it new from a UK retailer.

Put him at the top of my F4F shelf for now.

Has 17 lives
Gets to Oil ocean boss 2
Guess who doesn't have 17 lives anymore

I'm not sure I'd trust Detolf to hold that much weight.... My limit is 2 figures per cabinet. (3 if one of the figures is on the lowest shelf but it's the most dusty place of the cabinet so I don't think it's a good idea to place anything like that there)
Also I thought Super Sonic is at least as high as Shadow. I had to place Shadow on top of Detolf because there is no way he can fit inside without removing one of the shelves.

Each shelf should hold up to 6kg, but you're right not to put too much trust in them. I plan to replace them with something stronger later down the line, especially since i've got 2 more F4Fs on pre-order.
Also super sonic touches the glass above it, if mine wasn't ever so slightly slanted it probably wouldn't fit in the shelf at all.
One thing that I will say that I'm... not so pleased about is how crush-happy this game is.
So.... there is an actual LED in Mania's statue. It's just not connected anywhere.

I'm really considering buying the collector's edition for PC at some point even tho I already got it on Switch just because
A. The Collector's Edition looks cool
B. This is the first time I've wanted to re-buy a game anyways just to support the creators
