On the upside, they presumably side-lined this to work on Sonic Mania instead. As cool as a Taxman/Stealth mobile remaster of S3&K would've been, I think we got the better deal in the end.
If anything, getting S3K on the current Retro engine with drop dash would be a godsend.
Damn shame nothing came from this. Would have loved to have S3K on my android.
[sp]Blue Sphere's Mania Mode was probably one of the things that came out of this actually[/sp]
If anything, getting S3K on the current Retro engine with drop dash would be a godsend.
I might be in the minority but I actually like the insta-shield more (not that drop dash is bad though)
I might be in the minority but I actually like the insta-shield more (not that drop dash is bad though)
I used insta-shield in S3K more than the drop dash. Mainly because I never used the drop dash.
Finally got around to trying out that Sonic Utopia demo. Goddamn I need some more of that.
I used insta-shield in S3K more than the drop dash. Mainly because I never used the drop dash.
Sucks that it's tied to a No Save / Debug Mode level select run in Mania, though. But yeah, the Drop Dash feels like an evolution of masterful speed and platforming that's great for speedrunning and maintaining flow, yet the Insta-Shield has more enemy / boss fight utility that the average player can get behind.
I never had issue's fighting enemies the old fashioned way. There are also very few enemies to deal with in general
I never really understood how the Insta-Shield even worked.
I never really understood how the Insta-Shield even worked.
The Insta-Shield extended your jump damage radius, making it easier to hit Orbinauts through their spiky shields or hit bosses that hover just outside your jump, and made you invulnerable to various attacks and projectiles for half a second. With proper timing, you turn most enemies and some bosses into a cakewalk. In Japan it was apparently the "W Spin Attack," or Double Spin Attack given that W in that context means double, giving more inclination as to what its purpose really was.
Kinda depressing when you realise what seems to be looking like the one good part of Sonic's 25th anniversary wasn't even made by their own team. The fans have literally done it better than the creators theirselves.
It's 2017 can we please have Super transformations bound to a separate button, thanks. I don't like having to self harm just because I don't want to lose my secondary abilities half way through a level. [editline]28th August 2017[/editline] It's even worse as Knuckles especially in Mirage Saloon 1 where they expect you to use his climb multiple times and you have to activate the Super to do it.

Super should be bound to hitting two buttons at once tbh
Or just bind it to the top button, i.e. X on the Switch. I was doing my first Knuckles run and somehow managed to get all Emeralds before Studiopolis and now every time I try to use my glide I inevitably Super. Unless an option for that is added really the only strat is to get all Emeralds but hold out on getting one until right before Titanic Monarch.
[sp]Blue Sphere's Mania Mode was probably one of the things that came out of this actually[/sp]
It came from Stealth's mock up I posted a few pages ago, not this.
Isn't TheTaxman active on Twitter, or some forum, or anything? Try to engage him on said issue, unless others have already done so.
5 more hous, then I can stop dodging spoilers. Hopefully it's not too broken.
Isn't TheTaxman active on Twitter, or some forum, or anything? Try to engage him on said issue, unless others have already done so.
Taxman's pretty active all over the place. The entire team is really. Just gotta keep in mind unless it's one of their relaxing streams it's probably gonna be hard to reach them on say, twitter given the they've made it big now and everyone seems to pretend they have this longstanding knowledge of him :v:.
It came from Stealth's mock up I posted a few pages ago, not this.
But wasn't the idea for it supposed to go towards the Sonic 3 & Knuckles Remake if i recall correctly?
sonic mania is out on PC and it has denuvo. the game made by sonic ROM hackers is unmoddable. nice. two week delay for this.
sonic mania is out on PC and it has denuvo. the game made by sonic ROM hackers is unmoddable. nice. two week delay for this.
Just as I fucking suspected. Seriously considering a refund. Fuck Sega for stooping to shitty business practices like that.
sonic mania is out on PC and it has denuvo. the game made by sonic ROM hackers is unmoddable. nice. two week delay for this.
What's even the point of still using Denuvo when it gets cracked within days. [editline]29th August 2017[/editline]
this is especially weird because sega have always been pretty lenient on mods and the like. considering it's where the games devs theirselves got their start and the modding scenes of other sonic games (generations, lost world) this is really stupid and it'll only turn people away, at least apparently it can be cracked easily
blaming christian and the team for this is stupid, i imagine they're probably the most upset about this considering their background
a 2 week delay just to add a incredibly shitty DRM thats still gonna get cracked fairly soon...thats one way to spit on PC players
a 2 week delay just to add a incredibly shitty DRM thats still gonna get cracked fairly soon...thats one way to spit on PC players
to be fair, apparently some bugs have been fixed as well. they added a separate button for super transformations as well, both of which are coming to the console versions soon.
People at Sonic Retro were getting critical of anyone jumping to conclusions, but it felt like this was coming from a mile away. Why else would they have a spontaneous announcement with little warning, the day after the game leaked early on Switch because of an idiot with Collector's Edition, only to basically say the PC version had a two week delay for "optimization issues" with no explanation as to what that meant? It's a textbook excuse for emergency kneejerks companies have had when it comes to having to slip in DRM at the last minute, and i'm glad I canceled my PC double-dip pre-order right after I got the game on PS4.
also for some reason my intro plays in black and white? why's that :^( edit: you have to be in online to play the game as well? i have a feeling sega added a lot of bullshit that either christian couldn't do anything about or didn't know about
Aaaaaand the Steam page is getting raided with negative votes. This is why we can't have nice things.
wow.... just wow... 2 week delay just to add denuvo... I have no words... I like the game, I really do (made it to the flying battery zone), but I'm not going to support such shitty business practices.
