More than likely they may just try to remove the always-online requirement, but they'll likely investigate whatever options they can find to keep it in there.
Oof... rocky PC launch I see. Hope SEGA gets the memo and doesn't do the same for Forces.
If I'm honest, outside the Denuvo issue its been a pretty OK launch for me. The port is a little barebones sure (But its not a complex 3D game, so its not a problem) and I wish Dinput was supported so I could use my Sega Megadrive controller but I can sort that via other means. I was fearing they would add a lurid filter by default with no switch off to try and either make it look more retro or "CRT like" but nope you can use a simple linear filter. Not even at the end of the game and I think this will be my GOTY 2017. Its just been too long since we had a truly good Sonic game.

Well... if it's not a fake account then... Sega, go fuck yourself.
From what I understand (and is unconfirmed in some cases)
-CPZ Act 2 Boss can no longer trap you and soft lock you
-Studiopolis has better pathing so you can't get stuck in the level
-OOZ Act 2 Boss has better hitboxes to stop from crushing you
-Crushing in general has been toned down in some places (CPZ Act 1's Mega Mac tunnel)
-TMZ Act 2's glitched speedrun goal has been fixed (I saw one person mention it, dunno how true it is)
Nobody has checked if PGZ's Act 2 Boss has been fixed yet
Haven't heard anything on if the scrolling in GHZ Act 2 was fixed (Camera sometimes lagged so you'd see spikes floating in midair)
Hopefully these fixed, and with the Super Sonic button thing, comes to the console version soon.
The delay was to add Denuvo, there is no doubt of that now.
The fact we got a new build of the game is just a collateral side-effect, it wasn't really intended, is just that the new patch was almost done so they just sent the new patch to say "Hey we added new stuff, pls don't hate us".
Well, i had to play the game on my laptop during class today and that didn't quite work out for obvious reasons :v:
I refunded the game because of that, i will re-buy it if they remove Denuvo, i really need the offline mode, and i dislike Denuvo as a whole.
I've seen people claiming that adding denuvo was an attempt to get people mad at taxman so they ignore mania for forces, which makes sense considering sega... hired him... and let him make a game for them... instead of just... not doing that??
Well, he's still very much an external force.
He was hired for the game but he doesn't really officially have a position at SEGA. He's on and off.
I doubt they'd intentionally try and bog someone down like that but at the same time I do have a feeling they're very worried about Force's sales and reception right now because comparisons will be drawn to Mania.

so what? it's still an official sonic game that they oversaw and gets them money, if they're worried about forces doing poorly then intentionally sabotaging their own product is the last thing they'd want to do
I get that people are upset but the idea that they gimped the PC version to sabotage it for another game the company is making is frankly absurd.
Hey instead of making money from two good products lets make one shitty so that everyone buys the next thing we put out???
To be fair, it's Sega. Sega of Japan is especially and notoriously petty, and the company as a whole are known for absolutely terrible business decisions.
If that Stealth post isn't fake, then they're trying to throw the devs under the bus for the DRM debacle for one thing.
I also searched for that stealth post to check if it was fake and I couldn't find it
if someone else could doublecheck for it that'd be great but until then I don't believe it
Don't know if this has been posted before but I leave it here just in case. Way better than the actual episode if you ask me.

So I got the PC version and basically bricked it by changing the video settings. I tried to fix it by reinstalling but that didn't do anything.
I won't refund the game, but I'm definitely not gonna install it til the whole DRM thing is removed.
I'm really not having any issues with the DRM stuff :U
The game crashed when I beated [sp]Titanic Monarch's[/sp]Act 2 Boss; reminder that this was a No Save playthrough (because Insta-Shield for life) :saddowns:
I heard from a guy I know that the Stealth discord is saying the screencap is fake but Stealth is endorsing it anyway.
Which if that's the case it makes sense, guy probably doesn't want to snap at the people that commissioned him to make the dream game even if it is frustrating.
Bluh I was so excited for Sonic Mania I preordered it. I almost never do that and this is why.
It's a real shame, I was really looking forward to playing this but I'm compelled to vote with my dollar against DRM when I can.
I'm going to refund the game when I get home.
:snip:
Take your grievances to SEGA and not the community behind Mania: refunding the game would be a disservice to the people who worked on it and by this point its pretty pointless to do so.
I mean, i'm getting a refund on steam and am going to buy it again on Switch. I love the game and I want to support the devs, and NOT support denuvo or companies that think its inclusion is a good thing.
Any patch notes for the update ?
I hate all the bad reviews this game is getting just because it has devuno, it's cheap, who cares
also the fact that they literally said they would fix it
[editline]a[/editline]
but yes the best way to fix it is to give it negative reviews so sega will stop making 2d sonic games and go back to the 3d ones!!

If it happened with GTAV and the shit surrounding Take-Two Interactive it's going to happen here with Denuvo: anti-consumer practices won't be taken lightly, especially on the platform that was born from mods and other community created content.
Real talk, aside from the always online blunder nobody has really explained why it's anti-consumer if it literally doesn't effect paying customers at all. Like assume it gets fixed if it hasn't been already I'm... still not quite seeing why people are angry at it?

There's a lot of bad rep and word of mouth about Denuvo that people flip out about the moment they see it on a new title, without much research done into it. It's a lot of kneejerk. However, it does keep a game always-online - you cannot play Mania on a laptop on the go, for example, without internet to get onto. It's also mostly the principle that despite the patch, the two weeks were spent inserting always-online DRM and the most controversial one right now onto the game.

That's gonna be a third time I post it within 2 pages. I know all of it sounds like author got a massive hateboner for denuvo but it represents a valid point of view on why denuvo (and any online drm) is bad.
took me a while to get my controller working with this game for some reason. but god damn this game is super fun!
