but there's an easier way using the bumpers :U
Should i be worried having Sonic Mania installed on Steam then? I can't play a game there without fearing bad stuff happening. What happens if i uninstall? I can't be relaxed with this crap happening since Capcom's garbage rootkit, i'm sorry if i come out as ignorant too

I didn't know that my first time playing it.
This was never the case before steam and console online shops. No one can restrict you from playing super mario world because you physically own the game. Nintendo can't get into your house and take cartridge away. But this is exactly what's happening if game is protected by denuvo or any other drm. They just replaced the house with steam/psn/etc account
Realistically no Nintendo wouldn't bust my door down over my copy of SMW but when you beat the game there's a reason it says "licensed by Nintendo, Super Mario World (the game) is owned by Nintendo"
It's because it's theirs. It's always been like that.

There's nothing wrong with having it downloaded or playing it and Denuvo isn't going to install malware or whatever. It's just a shitty DRM thing that's making people unhappy.

"Licensed by" means that the game has been approved by the platform manufacturer to be published on the platform. Nothing more. "%NAME% owned by %COMPANYNAME%" means that you cannot make derivative works without %COMPANYNAME% permission. None of that has anything to do with the game copy ownership.
You know what, I went to re-look up my argument so I can make sure I wasn't messing up and literally every topic/conversation ended the same way; i.e there was no ending so I think it's probably best to drop it.
I'm just going off what I've been told by indie devs and how other, smarter-than-me people have explained it so I'm just going to keep on believing them.
I think ultimately the saddest part in all this is that I don't know how a thread like this can recover. Soon as DRM got revealed no one really wants to talk about the game itself anymore (and I'll take partial blame for that). Kind of a bummer.
remember when doom had denuvo and then it was removed
good times

Give it a few days or a week. Everyone will calm down and go on with their lives.
Still I'm not sure there will be much discussion until sega removes denuvo.
Is the PC port of Sonic Adventure on Steam any good? Or is it best to just wait and play it on an actual Dreamcast (Which I plan on picking up soon anyways since I like collecting old vidya)?
I'll be the first to admit I'd always kinda avoided the 3D games in totality but I thought I'd give some of the more highly rated ones a shot.

The stock PC port on Steam is pretty shitty.
Use the 2004 PC port or BetterSADX if you want to use the Steam release.
I'm going to be completely honest here. I fucking hate this last level and the final boss.
A Sonic Mania streamer (GrimmyHunter) spent 2 hours today trying to get the PC version to run because his McAfee AV was false detecting the Denuvo packed exe as a trojan via heuristics. Because he wasn't particularly PC savvy, correcting this was an absolute clusterfuck.
The McAfee AV is mostly to blame here, but Denuvo's presence made the game entirely unplayable - and had he not been streaming at the time, he'd still think the software was non-functional. He'd had it gifted so he couldn't even refund it if that had happened.
I'm not one to defend Denuvo, ever, but why the fuck would someone be using McAfee
You know honestly I never even knew that the Dreamcast version of Sonic Adventure looked almost totally different.
All I'd ever seen was stuff from the DX version, because pretty much all bits of gameplay and even shitposts I've seen from the game all used those models and textures.
Personally I think the dreamcast version of the game did better :U
[sp]Nack, Bean AND Bark[/sp] in one boss fight was way too much for me to handle.
I'm really hoping that Sonic Forces won't suffer from Denuvo or any obtrusive DRM on PC, since that will likely kill the modding community and people's interest in the game in one motion.
I still haven't bought Mania yet, due to issues with my debit card, but now I'm on the fence of what version I should buy, provided I buy it at all. If I buy it on PS4 I won't get much of an opportunity to actually play it, since the TV's in this house are shared with everyone, and if I buy it on PC that could cause many minor inconveniences down the road due to how Denuvo functions.
I don't think any DRM could kill the interest in Forces.
Realistically speaking a large, LARGE cut of sales is probably going to come from consoles and in a even larger case not many people who buy PC games are going to give a shit/even be aware of what DRM is in the first place.

[sp]I can understand why some people don't necessarily enjoy Titanic Monarch Zone but I found the use of the bonus stage orbs from Sonic 3 to be a great idea and I'm a little surprised they weren't used in a normal level in Sonic 3. The level is definitely longer than most but considering it's the final level I'm willing to excuse it.[/sp]
Maybe I'm just the oddball out because I also liked Metropolis and Death Egg Zone. So maybe that tells you a thing or two about my taste when it comes to Sonic games.
Source with some knowledge of the process tells TSSZ that DRM had no bearing on Sonic Mania’s PC delay.
The source also suggested no big deal was made within Sega about Denuvo’s inclusion with Mania. It is the latest in a small series of Sega titles to have the technology included. Two other Warhammer branded titles, as well as Football Manager 17, Sega’s major PC property out of Europe, also includes Denuvo. All three mentioned titles have had the encryption technology cracked.
The source did not say whether developers Christian ‘Taxman’ Whitehead, Simon ‘Stealth’ Thomley, or PagodaWest Games had advance knowledge of Sega’s plans with Denuvo.
Spoilers though.
[sp]in order to pull it off for yourself you'll have to stand on a hook and do the Sonic 3 & Knuckles level select code, If you don't know it's ←←←→→→↑↑↑ and you should hear a ring sound.[/sp]

Don't get me wrong, I like the zone's mechanics, I don't. however, like fucking playing 17 minutes of it
So the game is only 40 bucks?
Leaves me thinking it's going to be another generation's length game

Once you figure out how it works it's actually really easy

TM Zone is fine, it's just too damn long for it's own good.
I can't wait till they announce that they had to cut out half the speed stages from the Switch version and replace them with more OC levels.

I didn't say the stage is hard at all.
It's obnoxiously long and boring.

I dunno why I expected anything else. The page they refer to doesn't even try to answer "was it delayed because of the denuvo" question.
