After seing how much trouble people had beating [sp]oil ocean[/sp] boss I was surpised that I was able to beat it with only 2 deaths and without any rings on my last life. But there are a few pretty bullshit moments in it indeed so I can see why people are having problems beating it.

You can [sp]Inject the other 2 into the true final boss using the level select, but otherwise both of their campaigns end at Titanic Monarch act 2. The only thing the emeralds do is give them their respective super forms.[/sp]

The true final boss / ending is Sonic-only just like S3&K. Unlike that game, though, using the Level Select to bring Tails or Knuckles into the final boss fight does have them work fully and properly. [sp]Beating the game in & Knuckles mode normally or beating the true final boss via level select as Knuckles gets you the special & Knuckles ending, but Tails gets nothing special beyond his normal ending.[/sp]

Ground out nearly 11 hours from this game in the first week alone. Classic Sonic showing its habit of taking my freetime ruthlessly. On the Knuckles playthrough now and that [sp]Metal Sonic boss[/sp] is some fucking intense shit.

Only had problems with him the first time since i didn't know all his moves, second playthrough I beat him without being hit at all.
He's really easy once you know how to fight him/avoid his attacks.
The only attack that still gets me is the one where he rolls up into a ball. Seems a bit unpredictable.
Finally got around to playing this and wow [sp]Chemical Plant[/sp] went from being one of my least favorite zones due to the [sp]infamous rising water part which was thankfully short lived in Act 1[/sp] but Act 2 is filled with so many cool additions. Also [sp]FLYING BATTERY ZONE!?[/sp]
The tracks for [sp]Chemical Plant Act 2[/sp] and the [sp]Act 1 boss of Studiopolis[/sp] are really great, too.
I dunno why, but I love that dancing Robotnik in Studiopolis act 1 so much.
I've been seeing a lot of the recolor sonic to be a darker blue mods floating around and while I can admire the effort in modding it in (I dont know how easy it is) it just kinda looks off to me in a lot of cases.
When I see still images I prefer it to the normal Mania look but in motion he just kinda blurs into the background in a lot of stages or doesn't mesh well with the saturated coloring of the brighter stages.
The darker red knuckles things though usually look fine outside of the shine on his head. That kinda looks really strange when he's not already kind of neon red.

I'm not sure if it was ever 100% confirmed to be fixed in the PC version but I know on the consoles he has a few glitches and bugs tied to him that can insta kill you. Combine that with getting hit and losing your rings to the oil I can see it being a pain in the ass for a lot of people.
That and it's just not that interesting of a fight anyway with a lot of boring downtime and whatnot.

Modders are still only just cracking the stuff open and making tools. You can technically go to Sonic Retro and find a tool that lets you directly look at individual frames of each animation and import new things in, but no one has the sprites for that. This isn't even touching all the extra animations and frames people will have to make for the smooth animations of Mania, it's why I only made a tribute and didn't try to make a genuine full sprite sheet kind of thing.
Give it some time, but it may take a bit depending on how dedicated the sprite artists get. Plus i've been seeing a lot of vitriol (albeit on contrarian imageboards) for the S3 sprite nowadays.
So I gave Shinobi III a try on Steam since I wanted to know the sound reference from the Heavy Shinobi fight in Mania, and I have to say that's a really damn good game.

Some people say it's not as good as Revenge of Shinobi, but for me Shinobi 3 was real damn good. And really damn hard, i've still never beaten it legitimately because it demands some real precision platforming and skills.
[sp]And don't forget that holding the attack button lets you block various attacks and projectiles. It can help a lot, and I didn't know it was there until just a few years ago.[/sp]
The only thing I don't like about the controls in Shinobi III is doing the Double Jump it has to be at the peek of your jump, which sucks.

Got my ass handed on Stage 3 by whatever the fuck that thing is supposed to be. Looks like something straight out of Contra. Welp, time to go back to Sonic 3D Blast (I don't know why I keep coming back to that game).
Okay, I've found six giant rings in Green Hill, one of which can only be accessed by Knuckles. Are there any more that I'm missing, or is the soonest I can get all emeralds Chemical Plant?
