What is Sonic Team doing at this point?!?
Honestly, I said it on Sonic Retro in short, but I feel like Sonic Team put a lot of their eggs into Sonic Runners, which only lasted a year before dying due to a lack of solid player retention and some really, really bad business model horseshit. And after that failed, the Lost World team basically pooled together assets and source code from Generations and started hashing together a new game to make money back while making it on the relative cheap compared to previous titles. The Hedgehog Engine 2 just looks like arbitrary current-gen upgrades and Forces still lacks in budget compared to Unleashed and its quality on an older version of the same graphics/lighting engine on older hardware. The returning stages seemingly reuse modified assets from Generations and Lost World (you can't tell me Casino Forest isn't a reworked Silent Forest), at a lesser quality than the expansive backdrops and assets the former had. And the gameplay's barely changed, right down to regressing to Colors in certain areas. While the Chemical Plant shots actually look slightly impressive compared to previous stuff, it's still unremarkable. And odds are, it'll suffer the same problem as Green Hill and Casino Forest so far: the new settings and area around the stage are purely set dressing and don't actually have any influence on the level design or gimmicks thus far.
but but but... I thought they apologized and are going to make it up to us by one-upping themselves!?!? I felt betrayed already. Alright alright, the game's not out yet so I best not be so hasty to judge the final product ...........
Sonic Mania update for Switch is live now.

I wish all these cool findings weren't in the hands of such a view-hungry clickbaity person tbh. That thumbnail alone makes me wanna scream. Also SEGA won't give three fucks if he uploads it. Chances are he will in a few days.

Other than some of the fucky textures that actually looks better than half the Sonic R tracks already/
Sonic Forces is pretty much "what if we take nostalgia...and make it edgy as fuck"
I normally don't give a shit about fan-themes or remix's but just heard this one and wanted to post it because I actually really enjoy it.
I'll be attending the IDW Sonic panel; I can't wait to be disappointed when we find out the new comic is entirely set within the game universe.
I'll be attending the IDW Sonic panel; I can't wait to be disappointed when we find out the new comic is entirely set within the game universe.
Wasn't that the same case as the one that ended? Like it was set during Unleashed despite having almost nothing to do with what actually happened in Unleashed.
I'll be attending the IDW Sonic panel; I can't wait to be disappointed when we find out the new comic is entirely set within the game universe.
I will be utterly disappointed if they will do hard reboot without archie characters. I really hope they atleast will let Flynn write a few issues which will end their story in that case. (all of the characters are owned by sega so I don't really see any problem doing that)
Don't be a grump man, Try to look at this with neutral lens, not biased ones.
I'm not neutral on the subject though, I've found the settings of the myriad Western adaptations (yes, even Sonic Underground's, despite it being an awful show) to be vastly superior for a long, long time.

Giving up is for squares; besides, I've always respected those that stand by their beliefs. Don't hate me for having beliefs--if anything, you should blame SEGA for their disjointed approach toward marketing their character 26 years ago. That sort of thing is destined to create a fractured consumer base.
Just started playing Sonic Generations from that Sonic Bundle and Jesus why does it insist on blasting out my ears every time I start it before reverting to the set volume only after I press start.

The longer that Mania has been out the more I realize that I like it's Stardust Speedway music more as its own compositions and less as Stardust Speedway remixes. I'd actually totally forgotten about it as of late but the fact that every single remix in the game is missing the piano breakdown in the original is outright criminal.

I never see it discussed that much, but what are everybody's thoughts on the Wii/PS2 version of Unleashed?
I never see it discussed that much, but what are everybody's thoughts on the Wii/PS2 version of Unleashed?
I managed to find a way to enjoy and beat it when I was in the phase where I was still bad at video games; I played on the Wii, but didn't use motion controls since I could tell it wouldn't be a fun time. But after watching a LP of it recently, it highlighted some of the issues I had with the game and then some: Too much of the game is night stages, with a point-and-click text adventure tacked onto it. If you're not good at platforming and staying alive, the night stages will be the bane of your existence since you cannot get 1ups by collecting rings, you have to do puzzles in the temples. The temple puzzles were locked behind sun/moon medals, which means you had to go back to stages you'd already beaten and get better at them, grinding down your time and getting higher scores. The puzzles themselves weren't even much fun, since it was all werehog-based platforming, and other than the doors being around the temple, there wasn't much pointing you towards doing them or hinting at them giving you extra lives. Enemies were just sponges to your damage as you progressed, so all that forced grinding to get more lives paid off a little bit, but it wasn't fun since the levels were nothing really special to return to with all of the forced combat sections. Day stages were far and few, but it was kinda fun to go back and beat your record in those ones, even though the challenge modes for them were very redundant, sometimes infuriating (don't break anything but go fast). I have a soft spot for it because one trailer of the game reminded me of Bowling for Soup, and they had since then became one of my favorite bands, and I have had a taste for average and mediocre music/games my whole life. 7.8, good game. + Day stages were fun, I liked the music. ~ Fighting and platforming was kinda fun, but repetitive. - Too much darkness.
No vocals? what is this
Modern Sonic's got the standard synth and guitar stuff so far, Avatar gets the vocal songs, and Classic Sonic is some weird bastardization of Gens/MD FM synth
